Sunan recalled Avegni, who had fused with the Blood Soul Insects’ bloodline.

He was tricked and killed by that very bloodline.

Although the Funeral Striker bloodline Ugo fused into had relatively mild drawbacks, it also offered only a marginal increase in lifespan.

Generally speaking, the more a bloodline extends lifespan, the more severe its drawbacks.

Of course, there are exceptions.

But such bloodlines are exceedingly rare.

Sunan had no interest in fusing with the Funeral Striker bloodline and skimd through that section swiftly.

If he were to fuse with a bloodline, he would wait until he beca an Official Wizard and found a suitable bloodline.

Before that, randomly fusing bloodlines would only narrow his future path.

After finishing the experint notes, Sunan let out a long sigh of relief.

The Golem Legion had suffered significant losses in this war; a high-level Stone Golem and an Elite Dual-bladed Spider were completely destroyed, amounting to nearly a third of the legion lost.

In the end, the estimated loss was nearly 180,000 Gold Coins.

The profits from the ore veins this year practically went down the drain.

Fortunately, the harvest was also not small; having just one Funeral Striker was enough to offset the losses.

With the Funeral Striker, the research on the bloodline mark could be prioritized.

Besides, there was a possibility of extracting Divine Power from the Funeral Striker’s bloodline.

If successful, he would have a stable source of Divine Power, and his Spiritual Power growth rate would surge significantly.

As long as the growth of Spiritual Power could be accelerated, it would be worth spending as much Gold Coins as necessary!

Putting away the experint notes, Sunan glanced at the Funeral Beetles’ eggs in the corner, thought for a mont, and then used flas to dispose of them all.

Ugo could control the Funeral Beetles because he had fused with the Funeral Striker’s bloodline.

But since Sunan hadn’t, keeping the eggs was pointless, so he just burned them away.

Anyway, all the information about the Funeral Beetles was already in the experint notebook.

If needed, he could always remodel them using the Funeral Striker’s bloodline.

By the ti he walked out of the laboratory, the battle in Kashamri had already ended.

The remaining insects had been completely cleared by the Dual-bladed Spiders.

Leaving over a dozen Dual-bladed Spiders to guard Kasham, to prevent any creatures with poor judgnt from intruding, Sunan then returned to Ghost Lake City.

Since the war took place outside the city, Ghost Lake City suffered almost no damage.

The city remained peaceful.

Upon returning to Base No. 2, Sunan imdiately headed to the Puppet Factory.

During this war, the golems were more or less damaged and needed to be repaired.

Originally, they could have been automatically repaired at the geolith node, but Sunan was in a hurry to deal with Matu and Auson, so he decided to do it himself.

But the developnt of events caught him off guard.

On the third day after Kasham was destroyed, Carolina knocked on the door of the Puppet Factory, and with Sunan’s permission, walked in with a peculiar expression.

"Master, the Red Widow seeks an audience with you outside the city."

"She also brought the head of Duke Black."

Sunan was slightly taken aback, then revealed an amused expression.

"Let her to the drawing room."

Carolina responded and left.

When Sunan entered the drawing room, the Red Widow was already waiting inside.

Upon seeing Sunan enter, she imdiately stood up, a flattering smile on her alluring face.

"My lord, congratulations on defeating Kasham."

Sunan glanced at her, leisurely sat down across, and said, " defeating Kasham isn’t necessarily good news for you."

"My lord jests. The plague of insects from Kasham has been a huge headache for us. Your complete resolution of the infestation spares us from the threat, and Matu is profoundly grateful."

The Red Widow said with a smile, but seeing Sunan with a half-smile, her expression froze, and she sighed inwardly, realizing that Sunan had already guessed the whole story, so she stopped her pretense and directly opened the wooden box she held, revealing Duke Black’s head inside.

However, the corona-like black flas above the head and the soul fire in the eye sockets had already dissipated.

Despite this, based on the aura, there was no doubt it was Duke Black.

"My lord, after Kasham’s downfall, Duke Black still intended to harm Ghost Lake City. I took the opportunity to kill him, and I have already taken over Auson. I am willing to offer Matu and Auson to you in exchange for a chance to serve under your command."

Just as expected.

Sunan raised an eyebrow, not surprised at all.

When he heard the Red Widow had co with Duke Black’s head, he already guessed she intended to surrender.

Whether Duke Black truly planned to continue opposing Ghost Lake City and hence was ambushed by the Red Widow, remains unknown.

No matter the truth, it was clear that the Red Widow was highly capable in her actions.

She was a ruthless, decisive, and cold-hearted woman!

Sunan glanced at the skull, with no intention of taking it, and calmly asked, "What can you offer ?"

"My lord is always incredibly busy, but with only Carolina under your command, it’s difficult for her to manage three city-states simultaneously. Though I am not particularly talented, I do have so experience in managing city-states and believe I can lessen your burdens."

Sunan squinted his eyes.

He picked up the underlying implication in the Red Widow’s words.

Having only Carolina under his command couldn’t guarantee that she wouldn’t have her own hidden agendas, but if there were another follower, they could mutually oversee each other, benefiting him greatly.

The Red Widow’s words hit precisely on his mind.

Mutual supervision was one aspect; crucially, to expand his territory in the underground world, he unavoidably needed more local hands to help manage the city-states and resource points.

After all, he couldn’t be everywhere at once, nor could he let various trifles take up too much of his ti.

And the Red Widow happened to be a suitable candidate.

Regarding loyalty, a Soul Contract would suffice.

"You’ve convinced ."

Having made a decision, Sunan didn’t hesitate and directly stated his demands.

"I will allow you to beco my follower, but as a condition, you and all Legendary Level vampires under Matu must sign a Soul Contract."

"I will obey your command, my lord."

The Red Widow agreed without hesitation.

Signing a Soul Contract was expected; she was ntally prepared and had already persuaded her kin.

Although having one’s life tied to soone else’s whims was hard to endure, it was more acceptable than death.

Moreover, the wizard before her was extraordinarily powerful.

He was the strongest being she had encountered in her long life.

Being such a strong entity’s follower wasn’t sothing difficult to accept.

Sunan then took out a Gemstone and signed the Soul Contract with the Red Widow on the spot.

"I’ll give you three days to tidy things up, after which I will take people to take over Matu and Auson and sign Soul Contracts with the rest."

Sunan waved his hand as he spoke, suddenly rembering sothing.

"Do you have a Silver Ore Vein in your possession?"

"Yes, my lord." The Red Widow dared not hide anything.

Sunan imdiately decided, "I will send golems to take over the Silver Ore Vein, have your people cooperate."

Aboriginals are too slow at developing ore veins; better to have the Clay Golem do it.

The sooner they expedite the developnt of the Silver Ore Vein, the sooner they could gather enough Mithril to refine the Secret Puppet.

The Red Widow naturally had no objections and nodded in agreent.

Sunan gestured for her to leave.

As she walked out of the drawing room, she caught sight of Carolina standing not far away, looking back at her with a blank expression.

The Red Widow gave her a charming smile.

Carolina snorted coldly and turned to leave.

Seeing the Red Widow co out of the drawing room unscathed, she knew the master had accepted her surrender.

This was not good news for her.

From now on, she had one more competitor.

And a particularly cunning competitor at that.

"Flirtatious wench!" Carolina cursed silently.

anwhile, as she watched Carolina’s departing figure, a disdainful look montarily flashed across the Red Widow’s face as her smile gradually faded.

"Pretentious bitch!"
