Now reading: Chapter 126: The third wheeler is interesting! from System Mission: Seduce the Final Boss [BL], a Yaoi novel by Ninishe.

’Well, to be fair, I don’t think that dude would refuse eting .’

Those were his thoughts, at least, though whether he could actually act on them was another matter entirely.

Either way, he didn’t have much ti ahead of him. Three days. That was all.

No ti to waste.

’Besides, we’re talking about a hundred coins here. I have to check the favorability! It’s been way too long.’

Blake was hoping for a number above twenty.

Which already felt a little arrogant to expect, admittedly.

For this morning, though, he needed to stick with Myles. Not only because he couldn’t exactly avoid it, but also because of the rapidly approaching wave of guilt and infinite cringiosity that would inevitably hit him in a day or two.

What could he even do about it?

It wasn’t his fault the system had the emotional intelligence of a brick.

Still, he couldn’t just keep pulling the Zlatan if the entire point was making Myles jealous.

There was one more person he still had to absolutely et, and he’ll use this opportunity as much as possible.

"Tomorrow I’m going with Anthony to that science museum."

"Okay."

"And, uh... maybe you could show the way? So I won’t get lost tomorrow."

Myles looked up from the sofa before getting to his feet with a small nod.

"Alright."

Blake internally let out a relieved phew.

Another peaceful pass, or at least for now.

The two of them headed toward the bedroom.

Now that Blake thought of it though, there was a slight problem.

Actually, a pretty big problem.

’Jeez, I’ve got no spare shirts!’

He stared at his backpack, then stared at it a little longer... then opened it again, just in case a clean shirt had magically appeared inside during the last five seconds.

It hadn’t.

"..."

Right, this was definitely an issue.

Not really because he disliked Myles’ style or anything.

Actually, so of his clothes looked pretty nice.

The problem was that they would’ve looked ridiculous on him.

And very huge.

Myles wasn’t built like soone who naturally occupied more space than the average human being.

But Blake was well... he was Blake.

Any shirt borrowed from Myles would probably make him look like a child who had gotten lost inside his father’s wardrobe.

Still, it wasn’t like he could walk around half naked, that wasn’t exactly a realistic solution.

So he was about to ask.

Then he paused.

’Hold on... wouldn’t this beco an obstacle for the mission?’

Blake froze where he stood.

The mission was simple.

Or at least it had sounded simple in his head.

First, inject the seed of jealousy, then act completely clueless about it!

After that, following this delusional logic, he had to continue until Myles eventually got jealous.

And finally... profit.

A perfect strategy, probably.

Maybe...

Hopefully...

The problem was that if he wore Myles’ shirt...

’Wouldn’t that suggest we are like, super close?’

Like those terrible teenage novels where one borrowed hoodie imdiately carried the emotional significance of a marriage proposal.

If people already thought they were close enough to share clothes, then wouldn’t the whole Anthony or Zlatan operation lose so effectiveness in Myles’ eyes?

Blake scratched the back of his head.

It didn’t make much sense, yet sohow it did.

Relationships were weird, humans were weird, everything involving emotions was weird, and he was the living proof of it.

At this point, he had to give it his best, truly.

After searching through his backpack again, he eventually managed to find the least terrible shirt he still owned.

It was wrinkled slightly.

’Okay, uh, this is very wrinkled. But it is technically wearable?’

A while later, after getting on and off the bus, they were outside, walking toward the museum district.

Blake decided to begin Phase One.

The Anthony Phase.

Which sounded considerably more threatening than it actually was.

"So Anthony said that if the exhibit is boring, he’ll pretend to be part of it, to enlighten the others with his knowledge."

"Hm."

Blake nodded.

Honestly, that did sound like sothing Anthony would say.

"He has a weird sense of humor."

"Hm."

"But I swear he’s so funny."

"Hm."

Blake glanced sideways.

To be honest, he was kind of achieving nothing.

There was no reaction, no annoyance, no discomfort...

Not even a suspicious look.

The guy could probably listen to soone describe their future wedding plans and still respond with a calm "Hm."

’This is difficult...’

Still, Blake continued.

Mostly because the things he was saying were actually true.

Anthony was easy to talk to.

He was a funny geek.

And unlike many people, he wasn’t particularly interested in pretending to be sothing he wasn’t.

That made conversations simple, comfortable and predictable!

Blake found himself speaking naturally, even if exaggerating the praise.

After several minutes of also narrating true situations, he realized he had completely forgotten the jealousy operation and was simply talking about Anthony.

anwhile Myles remained exactly the sa.

He was simply listening and walking... occasionally humming, not looking too interested.

Eventually the museum ca into view.

Blake imdiately looked up.

"Whoa."

The building was enormous.

Glass walls reflected the morning sunlight.

Large banners hung near the entrance.

People moved in and out continuously.

It looked important, the sort of place where every object probably had a five-page explanation attached to it.

"What do you know about it?"

Myles looked at the building.

"It was founded twenty-three years ago."

Blake instantly regretted asking, g*ogle had been activated!

"It was established through a collaboration between several scientific institutions. The permanent exhibits focus primarily on technological developnt throughout human history."

Blake sighed internally, because there was more, he could tell.

"There are sections dedicated to engineering, early industrial machinery, astronomy, computational sciences and experintal physics."

There it was.

"The first floor contains historical machinery. The second contains modern technological applications. The western wing hosts temporary exhibitions."

"..."

"The central hall contains reconstructions of early chanical systems."

"..."

"There is also a gift shop."

Blake stared.

Myles stared back.

Neither said anything for a few seconds.

"Did you morize all of that?"

"No."

Honestly, he couldn’t deny it was funny when Myles just spoke like a role model citizen.

Looking back at the museum, Blake thought that, maybe, this place could actually be interesting.

At least it sounded interesting.

Then again, Myles also made sandwiches sound like academic research papers when necessary.

So maybe that wasn’t a reliable tric.

"Have you been inside?"

"Yes."

"Oh."

Blake looked at the entrance.

"Was it as fascinating as it sounds?"

"No."

Blake wasn’t entirely sure whether to believe him.

Still, it wasn’t often Myles voluntarily described sothing as boring.

It could even an he genuinely doesn’t like it, who knows.

That only made Blake a little more curious.

Unfortunately curiosity wasn’t exactly his highest priority right now, since he had too many things on his plate.

The mission.

The favorability.

The reward.

The countdown...

And the incoming wave of embarrassnt waiting for future Blake, a truly horrifying prospect.

The two eventually sat on a nearby bench.

People passed by, so entered the museum, others left carrying bags from the gift shop.

For a mont, everything was quiet.

Now, part two of his plan had to be activated.

Information gathering, with excitent!

He turned toward Myles.

"What does Zlatan like?"

Myles looked at him.

The look lasted long enough for Blake to realize sothing terrible.

A question was coming.

"Why?"

There it was, Blake internally cursed. It was actually favourable, still, he wanted the question a little later, fueled by jealousy or sothing...

Thankfully he had prepared for this early possibility.

Sort of.

"I’m interested."

Myles continued staring, and Blake really had no choice but to maintain eye contact.

An intense battle of absolutely nothing.

Eventually Myles looked away.

"Shrimps."

Blake blinked... that wasn’t what he expected.

"Shrimps?"

"Yes."

It was oddly specific but... he could take that.

Blake ntally stored the information.

"And flowers."

That surprised him even more.

"Flowers?"

Wasn’t that too delicate sounding for a prick like that?

"Yes."

Blake nodded.

Okay.

Shrimps and flowers.

It was still a surprisingly peaceful combination.

"What doesn’t he like?"

"Dogs."

Blake almost laughed.

"Dogs?"

"Yes."

That felt statistically impossible.

But who was he to judge?

"And the sea."

"The sea?"

"Yes."

’The sea is just there, existing and being large... there’s nothing to particularly like about it either, I guess.’

Either way, if Myles said so, it was probably true.

Blake continued.

"What color does he like?"

Myles answered.

"What food does he order most often?"

Myles answered.

"What does he usually do when he’s bored?"

Myles answered.

"What kind of movies does he watch?"

Myles answered.

The answers kept coming, like consulting an encyclopedia.

After a while Blake started feeling slightly uncomfortable.

Not because of the information itself.

But because Myles sohow knew all of it, an alarming amount of it...

Every question received an imdiate response, as if the information had already been perfectly categorized sowhere inside his head.

Blake wasn’t sure whether to be impressed or concerned.

Possibly both.

The list continued growing.

Likes.

Dislikes.

Preferences.

Habits.

Favorite foods.

Favorite flowers.

Favorite drinks.

Small details.

Random details.

Completely unnecessary details, yet Blake kept asking.

Partly because he was curious, at this point, and partly because he needed information.

The process continued far longer than originally intended.

And Blake remained completely unaware that this decision would eventually co back to haunt him.

In many ways.
