"Unfortunately, I can’t join you for so fun activities... I have to go."

Blake waved at him, already turning to walk away.

"As if that’s bad news. Just go."

The lunch was indeed awkward. Blake wanted to be careful, not organize anything with Myles in front of Zlatan. To avoid him tagging along, of course.

He was planning on running off with Myles, if that were to happen.

But it wasn’t necessary, fortunately enough.

"Why is he so nosy?"

"I don’t know."

"You two are friends, you should know."

Myles stared down at him.

"Okay, okay... not friends, but still, you’re pretty close, you can’t deny that!"

"He just likes to exist for fun."

Blake gulped, holding a chuckle.

’Damn, that’s ruthless.’

Now, they were wandering through the amusent park, eyes scanning for sothing remotely interesting.

Most of the attractions seed dull, either crowded with screaming kids or flashy enough to feel shallow.

Blake had a hard ti focusing. He was also carrying the giant teddy bear Myles had won earlier, which made maneuvering through the throng awkward at best.

’There’s no way I’m dragging this thing inside every attraction,’ he thought, rolling his eyes.

He nudged Myles. "Anything catch your eye?"

Myles squinted at a spinning ride in the distance. "No."

Blake shrugged. " neither. Everything’s either too loud or too boring. Guess we had too much fun earlier."

They walked a little further, weaving past cotton candy stands and the occasional street perforr.

But then, he finally saw sothing worth his attention: a circus tent, bold stripes of red and yellow, looking almost ridiculous in the late afternoon sun.

He stopped short. "Hey, what about that?" he asked, nodding toward the tent. "Could be fun, right?"

Myles didn’t look too impressed. "I’ve never been there."

Blake grinned, tugging at the strap of the teddy bear. "Never been? Then who knows how fascinating it could be. Could be amazing."

They started walking toward the entrance, a sense of slight excitent building within Bkake.

But just as they were about to step up and buy tickets, his gaze shifted again, sothing else had caught his attention.

A small, garishly decorated tent sat a little off to the side, a sign swinging lazily in the wind: Fortune Teller: Know Your Future Today!

Blake stopped dead in his tracks. "Or... what about that?" He pointed enthusiastically. "This. Definitely this."

Myles turned to look, frowning slightly. "..."

"Yeah! Co on, this is better," Blake insisted, already moving toward the entrance of the tent.

It looked rather shady.

"Yeah. Okay."

Blake chuckled. ’I do wonder if it’s going to be worth it.’

Inside, the tent slled faintly of incense, and the dim lighting made everything look more mysterious than it probably was.

The fortune teller herself was waiting behind a small velvet-draped table, adorned with trinkets that clinked softly as she moved.

Her hair was piled high, heavily powdered, and her eyes glinted with the practiced sparkle of soone who had seen enough gullible people to last a lifeti.

Blake sank into the chair across from her, setting the teddy bear awkwardly on the floor. ’This is ridiculous. Such a stereotypical looking fortune teller.’

"So," he said, trying to sound casual, "am I going to be rich?"

The woman tilted her head, letting her gaze linger for a mont, the kind of pause that could make anyone feel exposed. Finally, she smiled. "Yes."

Blake blinked. ’Okay, thanks... that’s it?’ He had been expecting so dramatic prediction, maybe an ominous warning. Instead, it felt underwhelming. "Cool, and what about my future lover? What are they like?"

The woman chuckled. "Ah... your lover is right next to you."

Blake’s jaw literally dropped. "What? No, no, no, we are not like that yet!" He looked at Myles, who looked unaffected by her words.

Why was he the only one caring?!

"Pay attention," the woman said, waving her hand vaguely, and then Blake, cheeks burning, fumbled to hand over so bills. "Thanks. Uh... that’s it, I guess," he muttered, grabbing the teddy bear. "We’re... leaving now."

Myles didn’t comnt as they exited the tent.

’Well, that was sothing,’ Blake thought, feeling a mix of disbelief and embarrassnt.

***

Ti passed quickly. They moved from the fortune teller to the circus tent after all, eventually wandering through various rides, gas, and stalls.

Blake’s feet were sore, his arms a little tired from holding the bear, but he hadn’t once regretted insisting on this detour.

Myles, on the other hand, did not look tired in the slightest. But, of course, soone with his stamina wouldn’t be.

Finally, the day began to wind down. The sun was dipping low, painting the sky in streaks of pink and gold. The crowd had thinned. Blake and Myles were walking slowly toward the exit, the noise of the park dimming behind them.

Blake stopped abruptly. Myles glanced down, raising an eyebrow.

"You... had fun, right?" Blake asked, a little nervously, a little hopefully.

Myles didn’t answer imdiately. He slowed, walking closer, and stared down at him. There was sothing quiet in his gaze, sothing that made Blake’s stomach flutter.

’Man, I’m getting weirder by the day because of him,’ he thought, tiptoeing slightly.

It was a little scary, probably because of how it went last ti he tried, still, he trusted that Myles wouldn’t get angry.

Before he could overthink it, Blake leaned in and kissed Myles on the cheek. "You gonna rember this day?" he asked, smiling brightly, his hands trembling a little.

He couldn’t see Myles’ face well, but as soon as he got down, his breath stopped.

Honestly.

How was this possible?

His heart was getting out of his chest.

Myles’s lips were slightly curved up. "Yeah, I’ll rember this."

[ Mission completed ]

The lights of the park faded behind them, the last echoes of laughter and rides disappearing into the evening.

Blake adjusted the teddy bear under his arm, feeling a weight, literal and otherwise, that now felt lighter sohow.
