Jason was utterly shocked by the sight before him. The person standing there was none other than the Doctor himself, Doctor Schneider. What struck Jason even more was the fact that Schneider appeared unscathed, unlike the rest of them who had endured hellish circumstances.
"This is impossible! You’re supposed to be dead," Jason exclaid, pointing out the obvious. However, all the doctor did in response was offer a sly smile. It seed that many had assud he had perished, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
[[Malfunction Detected!]] Chronos warned Jason, but he was too overwheld by the shocking sight to pay attention to the system’s ssage.
"I have been reborn, just as you have," the doctor calmly pointed out, his words carrying an imnse aura of danger that seed suffocating to Jason.
"What do you want with ?" Jason, aware that provoking the doctor would only bring harm, decided to play along.
"I have no business with you personally. I desire what lies within you, Jason Abbott," the doctor revealed, leaving Jason astounded by the fact that Schneider knew his full na, sothing that should have been impossible.
"I am well aware of you and the system within you, Chronos. You are the missing piece to my formula," the doctor continued, further unsettling Jason. He realized that the reason his friends had been taken was to ensure that he wouldn’t escape.
How did the doctor know about Chronos? Jason pondered this question, but before he could voice it, Schneider chuckled in response.
"Do you know the difference between our systems?" the doctor asked, confirming not only his knowledge of the existence of the system but also implying that he possessed one himself.
"Let enlighten you about the origins of these parasites."
-
Long ago, a teorite crashed into the Earth, but its true nature remained hidden from humanity. People were unaware that it contained parasites capable of taking over human hosts. However, at that ti, humanity was not yet compatible with these parasites.
They were powerless to resist, but then ca Doctor Schneider. With his brilliance, he managed to unlock the secrets of these parasites. As a result, humanity rapidly advanced far beyond its ti within a short span.
Schneider believed that this teorite held the key to everything, including immortality. He was convinced that his formula couldn’t fail, as he sohow harnessed the power of the parasites. However, it did fail. The formula was incomplete, or so it seed.
In truth, Schneider had unknowingly beco a pawn in the parasites’ plan to find suitable hosts. This led to the creation of zombies, with only the undead being compatible with the parasite fragnt.
Evolved zombies were parasites that had gained full control over the remnants of the human brain. They were not ordinary parasites; they possessed the ability to wipe out humanity, and that was their intention.

Jason listened to the truth, spoken directly from the doctor’s mouth, and everything started making sense. Yet, there were still unanswered questions that he desperately needed answers to.
"If these parasites exist, shouldn’t they be aware of each other’s presence and have a common goal?" Jason asked, considering that Chronos had assigned him to eliminate evolved creatures, essentially killing his own kind.
"Are you familiar with the aning of Chronos? The god of ti..." Schneider paused, giving Jason a mont to absorb the weight of his words.
"Yes, I am," Jason responded.
"Chronos was once whole. Each fragnt belongs to Chronos, including the system within you. Chronos’ mission was never to assist you but to regain the lost fragnts, in order to achieve the perfect human vessel—one that doesn’t decay or rot. That vessel is you," Schneider revealed.
This revelation overwheld Jason. He had always suspected that Chronos had its own agenda, but this was pure evil. World domination was a cliché goal, yet it seed to be the parasite’s ultimate desire.
"Chronos, whatever you are, sothing tells you’re far more dangerous than him," Jason stated, aware of the threat this man posed.
He was aware that Chronos had fragnted, with each fragnt containing lost mories. Jason had always trusted Chronos, but he couldn’t determine which part of Chronos this man possessed. However, it was clear that the parasite had control over the doctor’s brain. If the fragnts were to rge, it would be the worst-case scenario.
"I will kill you and destroy the fragnt inside you!" Jason barked, his anger boiling over. The doctor sighed in response, seemingly unfazed by the threat.
"I knew it wouldn’t be easy, so here’s your choice. Hand over the fragnt within you, or we will kill your friends," Schneider stated bluntly, leaving Jason no room for hesitation. The fate of humanity rested on his shoulders, and he couldn’t afford to be kind or think that there was a way to save everyone.
Jason had learned his lesson and realized that this was the ti sacrifices had to be made.
That wasn’t Schneider speaking, but rather the parasite that had taken control. Jason couldn’t believe it. If the parasite had taken over the doctor, not only did it have access to his knowledge, but it could also amass an army of undead and manipulate them effortlessly. It not only had the brains to use them to their fullest potential but an understanding on how human beings functioned as it had possessed the most brilliant man in the old world.
It all started with a bite, this was the repercussion of humanity trying to play god.
Jason knew that this abomination was responsible for the horrors he had witnessed, but he refused to let it end here. This threat was far larger than he had anticipated, which led him to make the difficult decision to abandon both Glenn and Dimitris. He had to make a break for it, leaving them behind.
"I’m sorry, Glenn. I’m sorry, Dimitris!" Jason uttered, his voice filled with regret as he left his friends behind, determined to face the dangers ahead.
