Sam had the upper hand, but he knew things wouldn’t be this easy. After all, this zombie had absorbed the matter of others, making it a formidable opponent. Unlike Jason and Clentine, Sam had little experience dealing with evolved zombies. He hadn’t encountered many himself.
This was a new situation, and Sam was curious to test the limits of this creature. However, sothing unexpected happened, even beyond the anticipation of forr soldiers.
The zombie’s face contorted, and multiple heads sprouted from its body. It recognized Sam as a threat, driven by primal instinct or, more accurately, by assimilating the mories of its victims.
Sam smiled, knowing that things were about to beco a lot more challenging.
The zombie now possessed the battle experience of multiple soldiers simultaneously.
Sanders, observing the scene, thought to himself if Sam would be able to face it. Even Sam couldn’t possibly kill such a formidable foe.
Sanders despised seeing his n in this state, suffering and transford into zombies. He couldn’t bear the thought of leaving them like this without ending their misery. He wouldn’t forgive himself if he did. Sanders patiently awaited an opportunity, knowing that soone had possibly killed the disheveled head that rested on the zombie’s shoulder. He wondered if the sa fate awaited the other heads.
Suddenly, the zombie took the initiative and charged straight at Sam. However, Sam was agile and managed to evade the attack by rolling between its legs. The zombie narrowly missed him, but imdiately fell to the ground. Sanders was puzzled, wondering what had happened. Upon closer inspection, he realized that Sam had swiftly severed the Achilles tendons of the zombie’s ankles. The action had occurred so rapidly that even the trained Sanders couldn’t perceive it.
Sam felt disappointed. He had expected more of a challenge, but this was all the zombie could muster.
"Huh?" Sam thought to himself, feeling a warm liquid dripping down his forehead.
He swiped his hand over his forehead and realized he was bleeding.
The zombie had managed to injure him, but he couldn’t recall when it happened.
"Watch out!" Sanders shouted, alerting Sam to the lurking danger. The zombie stood right in front of him, which shouldn’t have been possible. Sam couldn’t react in ti as the zombie swatted him like a fly, sending him flying and causing him damage.
Sam lay motionless on the ground, with the zombie approaching him.
Sanders knew that Sam would be killed the mont the zombie got close enough.
It started to make sense why Sam had been hiding.
This zombie didn’t seek out random people; it targeted strong individuals who could increase its chances of survival.
Sam wasn’t the one hunting the zombie; it was the other way around.
Sanders made this connection because the zombie was ignoring him.
Sohow, the zombie could discern the weak from the strong, most likely due to the muscle mory or the PTSD imprinted into it by the people it had absorbed and unfortunately for Sam, he had made quite the impression on these people.
The mont the zombie sensed Sam, every part of its decaying body knew it had to eliminate him.
It all began with the doctor whom Sam had tortured. If this was the case, it would explain why the zombie had been relentlessly chasing Sam.
Sanders took action. Sam had told him not to open fire, but he saw no other way to escape the situation.
Sanders readied his gun, steadied himself, but before he could pull the trigger, the zombie stumbled back and crashed to the ground.
Sanders saw that Sam was on his feet, but he wondered what Sam could have done to make such a massive creature fall backward.
Sam stood on his feet, but barely. Sanders could tell he was injured by the way he stood, and Sam had no ans of defense should the zombie decide to attack.
"You really are a monster," Sam muttered, but he knew that alone wouldn’t be enough to defeat the zombie.
If the zombie could see, it ant it no longer relied on its other senses as much as it would have if it was blind.
This was what Sam used to his advantage. He feigned defeat, drawing the zombie closer and catching it off-guard.
Allowing him to take out two of the seven heads, Sam noticed the brief switch.
The head he had eliminated must have been responsible for motor function.
This creature wasn’t invincible, far from it, and Sam had learned what he wanted to learn.
He turned his back on the zombie, then raised his hand to gesture and draw Sanders’ attention.
"Fire," Sam commanded, and Sanders wasted no ti.
He aid for the remaining heads, realizing that Sam had earlier told him not to fire because he wanted to test his own strength against the zombie while simultaneously assessing its capabilities.
It had nothing to do with guns being unable to defeat it. Sam’s perspective on life terrified the soldier, but it was a necessary mindset if they were to have any chance of defeating these creatures.
anwhile, a horde of evolved zombies stood nearby, a nest of them with the fragnt directly embedded in their bodies.
The parasite that had taken over Schneider possessed everything necessary to create perfect evolved zombies.
Schneider walked out, and the dormant nest beca active the mont he raised his hand, like a necromancer resurrecting the dead.
"... And with this, an army of the undead has been born," Schneider said gleefully, or rather, the parasite that had taken over him spoke. This marked the beginning of the end, as humanity stood no chance against this horde. But it wouldn’t stop there.
Schneider planned to turn every living person on Earth into one of his soldiers.
This had been the plan from the start, and now he possessed the power and ability to make it a reality.
People often believe that a serpent was responsible for the original sin of mankind, but what if that wasn’t the case?
