It didn’t take long for gunfire to echo throughout the community but the threat wasn’t like anything that they had seen before.
The zombies were targeting their source of light, it was almost like they could see otherwise they shouldn’t be able to perceive their environnt except for the location of their food.
In darkness, there was no way for them to know where the zombies were or what they were doing so they fired randomly.
Allison was nowhere to be found so she couldn’t lead them and this was affecting how they coped with this situation.
The wall was ant to hold for at least a couple of minutes but it was breached way too easily.
The zombies scaled over it and slaughtered everyone on the wall.
The problem with fighting the undead was that the more they killed, the stronger their army beca.
Jason caught on and he was able to give the heads up to give them a fighting chance.
Rachel went straight to Lillian, Lillian was her utmost priority.
The commotion threw everyone in disarray, they needed a leader who could restore order to them and that ca in the form of Dimitris.
Dimitris took control of the situation, the zombies that managed to scale the walls didn’t make it to the ground as he opened fire.
They could put out the lights but they couldn’t put out fire and this was what prompted him to set a couple of small abandoned buildings ablaze to give them that illumination.
"This isn’t looking good," Jason thought to himself, the zombies were endless.
And he knew that this army of zombies wasn’t composed only of evolved but this thing had sohow managed to gather others with its march towards the community.
[[Survival probability: 0.01%!]]
Chronos inford him and Jason already knew that the community was lost but there had to be sothing he could do.
He didn’t know what was going on beyond the wall but he understood that he had to protect the people he cared about in case those zombies did manage to scale the wall.
But he had to trust Rachel to keep her safe, these zombies might be strong but they still had limited intelligence.
There was no way that Schneider could use them all efficiently like he did the last ti, there had to be a limit to his range.
"Jason! We need to go fight!" A voice called out behind him.
Jason looked back and saw that it was Carl but what could Carl do?
He was just a kid that nearly shit himself,l when faced with a life-or-death situation.
It could be argued he was the reason why Glenn was in that state. If he wasn’t there, Glenn would have gotten away unhard.
Jason grabbed his sword, monitoring his radar he could tell that they were moving past the walls.
This ant that the people there were either retreating or they had been killed.
The latter is the worst-case scenario.
The citizens were ard with weapons to defend themselves, Shantel had been pulling her weight ever since coming here.
And this was one of the responsibilities she adopted, she made sure everyone was well-equipped.
Adults and children alike as the fighters might not be able to defend them.
Gunshots echoed in the distance like a symphony but there was no one in sight to protect them.
Shantel equipped a gun and took all the children below a shelter that they had in the community, which was originally made as a storage room.
Rachel reached ho but Lillian was nowhere to be found, neither was the boy ant to be watching over her.
Rachel hadn’t told Jason that this child was living with them but neither had Lillian but that was because her big sister had told her not to.
She didn’t like keeping things from Jason but she hadn’t had a proper conversation with Jason since he returned.
Rachel was livid, she scread at the top of her lungs but there was no response, hoping that Lillian had run away but there was no reason for her to leave.
The house was the safest place and this was where she had told her multiple tis to wait for her in case of an ergency but upon further inspection, she realized that the windows had been broken.
"Huh?" Rachel thought to herself as there was no reason for the windows to be broken, they were intact the last ti she was here so there was a high chance that the zombies had encroached further into the community or soone had her sister.
Rachel’s heart dropped, she knew she wouldn’t be able to live without Lillian.
The anxiety that overca her triggered a panic attack, Rachel dropped to her knees, grabbing her chest as she struggled to breathe.
She felt her eyes blurring but soone kicked in the door and his voice, was distant.
She could make out the person standing over her.
"J-Jason?" Rachel muttered before Jason helped anchor her back to reality.
She felt a lot calr the mont his hand touched her and Jason knew what happened without her having to say anything.
In the end, Jason couldn’t fight or defend the community without confirming if what he was fighting for was safe.
If they weren’t, the community could burn for all he cared and Carl ca in shortly after.
"There is no trace of anyone else," Carl blurted out, he had a vested interest in this in the form of Lillian.
It was no secret that Carl cared about her and Jason didn’t look surprised by this outco.
There was a reason he was drawn here in the first place.
"The zombies have gotten in..." Jason thought to himself, not daring to let this thought outside of his head or it would make Rachel only worry.
Rachel didn’t know who Jason was becoming but there was comfort in his arms.
"I promise you, I will not let anything happen to Lillian, even if I have to die to get her back," Jason swore and the intensity in his voice gave everyone that heard him goosebumps.
This might sound like Jason trying to reassure them but in truth, Jason ant every word coming out of his mind as he knew what this parasite wanted.
