A day had passed since Thirteen and Camazotz t with the Immortal Fiend, Forneus.
They had already left Dead Man’s Isle, and were currently resting on an inhabited island.
The duo had gone inside the Mobile Fortress, where they discussed their plans for the future.
"You really got in the first half, Zion," Camazotz said with a smile. "To think you know one of Forneus’ acquaintances. His na is Eldest, right? How did you et him? If you hadn’t known him, both of us might have died back then."
Thirteen smiled faintly. "I don’t really know who the Eldest is."
Camazotz blinked. "Huh?! You an to say you were just bluffing yesterday?!"
"Yeah," Thirteen replied. "Good thing it worked out."
The corner of the Death Bat’s lips twitched. In the first place, he had already guessed that Thirteen was just spouting nonsense.
Since it worked, he changed his mind, only for the young man to confirm that he had indeed bullsh*t his way out of that dire predicant made. Camazotz couldn’t help but wonder if the teenage boy was courting death.
Seated beside the Death Bat, Giga patted his comrade’s shoulder as if telling him that he should have already expected sothing like this would happen.
"What are the two of you talking about?" Stella asked with curiosity. "Who is Forneus?"
Thinking he had found soone who would empathize with him, Camazotz told the young lady the full story.
Thirteen simply listened at the side, letting the Death Bat talk and talk until he had vented out all of his frustrations.
When his tale was done, Stella glanced at Zion with a complicated gaze.
"Although you don’t look like it, you remind of my Grandfather, Jas," Stella said. "While I don’t want to admit it, he is a very good con-artist. Even now, so people fondly call him as the Bandit of Lont."
The image of the old man whom Thirteen had t in the past surfaced inside his mind.
When Jas picked up Maple and Cinnamon, Thirteen felt a sense of familiarity from the other party.
He was like an old friend whom he was finally eting again after a very... very... very long ti.
"Your Grandfather..." Thirteen paused before shaking his head. "Never mind."
There was no use prying into the private life of others. Thirteen had never been that kind of person, so he decided to drop the subject.
Camazotz heaved a deep sigh, still reeling from the fact that he made a narrow escape with his life.
"Zion, when we return to the main continent, I’ll be going back to Pangea," Camazotz said. "There are still so matters I have to take care of."
Of course, this was just an excuse. If Thirteen kept bringing him around, his gut told him that it was only a matter of ti before he was dragged to et yet another Fiend or Celestial.
Before parting ways, Forneus told them to wait for him to settle a few things, after which he would et up with them near the main continent of Solterra.
After so consideration, the Immortal Fiend stated that he would look for Thirteen after a month, then he bid them goodbye.
"I see." Thirteen nodded in understanding. "Thank you, Camazotz. You really helped a lot this ti around. Also, since you’re going back to Pangea, can you pass a letter to my family?"
"Of course!" Camazotz patted his chest with confidence. "I’ll make sure the letter will reach them no matter what."
The Death Bat had already given Zion his newest slave—err, subordinate, the Majin Prince, Sahard, who was a Thunder Bird.
Although he wasn’t as fast as Camazotz, he was still a decent flying mount and could take the teenage boy to places.
Little did the Death Bat know that tatron had shown the projection of their eting with Forneus to the kidnapped Jinns who were currently inside Thirteen’s domain.
After they saw that their new Master had beco "good friends" with one of the Seven Fiends of Solterra, they all changed their minds and thought that this was a great opportunity to form a connection with Forneus!
Even Sahard felt very eager to show his worth to Thirteen and wanted to beco his right-hand Jinn.
He understood that Camazotz and his new Master were allies, which ant that he could form a closer tie with Thirteen if he proved his usefulness.
If only Camazotz knew that tatron had already brainwashed the captured Jinns, he would definitely offer them a silent prayer in his heart.
"So, what’s your next plan?" Stella asked. "Are you going to look for the other keys?"
"I’ve thought about it," Thirteen replied. "If ti permits, I want to take one more key. However, I need to go to Death Valley first. I’ll know once I’m done with my business there."
Camazotz felt a chill run down the back of his spine after hearing the words "Death Valley."
Although that territory was countless miles away from his territory on the North of the Continent of Solterra, he had heard tales about the Fallen Angel who resided in that location.
The Death bat then glanced at Tiona, who was coiled around Thirteen’s neck.
She was a Domini Mortis, and her Patron was none other than Apollyon, the Fallen Angel of Death.
So stories say that he chose to live in isolation, for his presence alone could kill the living things within a certain range.
Regardless of the veracity of these stories, the fact that he was one of the strongest... if not the strongest Fiend in the world remained.
’Good thing I decided to return to Pangea,’ Camazotz thought while wiping the sweat that had ford on his forehead. ’This kid will be the death of .’
He had no intention of accompanying the teenage boy to the Death Valley, and et another Fiend, who could pinch him to death.
"Are you sure you plan to bring her along?" Camazotz pointed at Stella. "That place might be too dangerous for her."
Thirteen pondered a bit before glancing at Stella. "Do you not want to go there?"
"I’ll go," Stella replied firmly. "I told you that I’m going with you."
Seeing her determination, the Death Bat couldn’t help but give her a thumbs up in his heart.
He also rembered talking to Shana once, and the Saintess ntioned about the Zion Virus that was exceptionally infectious to won.
Of course, he didn’t believe such a thing. However, he still felt impressed at the young lady’s intention to go with Thirteen despite being aware of the danger.
Five days later, they finally arrived at the Southern region of the Central Continent of Pangea, and this was also the place where Camazotz bid his goodbye.
The mont his ally left, Thirteen didn’t hesitate to summon his new slave—errr, subordinate, Sahard.
"You called for , Master?" Sahard said in a calm, and polite tone. "How may I help you today?"
Thirteen blinked, not expecting the Majin Prince to be so courteous to him.
"We are going to the Death Valley," Thirteen replied.
Sahard’s eyes widened in shock. After hearing the teenage boy’s words, the Jinn inferred that his new Master was planning to et another Fiend.
Instead of fear, the Majin Prince grew excited. This was his first mission under Thirteen’s command, yet it was already sothing major.
"I don’t know the direction of the Death Valley, Master," Sahard stated. "But if you can point in the right direction, I will take you there without fail."
The Majin Prince’s determined gaze made Thirteen realize that he was being serious.
’What kind of mushroom did tatron feed them inside the domain?’ Thirteen thought.
Still, he was very impressed that Sahard seed to be treating this mission seriously.
After telling the Majin Prince the general direction of where they needed to go, Sahard turned to his real form, which was a Thunder Bird, and allowed Thirteen to mount on his back.
He made sure not to create any lightning as he soared through their destination, hoping that his action would make his Master understand that he planned to beco his loyal subordinate.
