At that mont, Cora fell into a heavy silence that stretched out for several long seconds as she sat there staring at the phone in her hands, her mind working furiously to weigh her options and truly consider whether she could just blindly go along with whatever Oliver was planning.

The rational part of her brain was still screaming caution, still listing all the ways this could go terribly wrong, still reminding her of exactly how dangerous and unpredictable Lovi could be when cornered.

But then again, as she sat there in the quiet comfort of Oliver’s car, feeling the warmth of his presence beside her and thinking clearly through everything she knew about him, Cora ca to the undeniable realization that she genuinely had no other viable option available to her right now.

She had turned the situation over in her mind from every possible angle, and the conclusion was always the sa.

If anybody in this world was going to be able to save her from this nightmare, if anybody had the resources, the intelligence, and the sheer force of will to rescue her from this deeply compromising condition that Lovi had just dropped her into, it had to be Oliver. He was the only person she truly trusted with sothing this sensitive and this devastating. He was the only person she loved deeply enough to allow into the most vulnerable and embarrassing corners of her life without fear of judgnt.

And perhaps what struck her most profoundly in that quiet mont was the way Oliver had reacted to everything. He hadn’t turned the situation around to make it about himself.

He hadn’t looked at her with disappointnt or disgust. He hadn’t asked her with cold anger why such a video existed in the first place or why she hadn’t told him about it sooner.

He wasn’t even remotely angry about any of it. Instead, without a mont of hesitation, he had simply looked at the situation clearly and imdiately focused on how to fix it for her. That kind of response said more about a person’s character than a thousand carefully chosen words ever could.

So finally, after one last deep breath that seed to release so of the crushing tension she had been carrying in her shoulders, Cora nodded her head with quiet but firm resolve.

"No problem then," she said softly, her voice steadier now than it had been since she first opened that email.

"Since you say you can help through this, I’m going to trust you completely on this one."

Imdiately, with hands that were still trembling slightly but moving with purpose, Cora opened Lovi’s email and began composing her reply.

She typed out the ssage carefully, keeping it brief and agreeable exactly as Oliver had instructed, letting Lovi believe that his trap had worked perfectly and that she was coming to him exactly as he had demanded. Her finger hovered over the send button for just a fraction of a second before she pressed it with finality.

The mont the ssage disappeared from her outbox, she looked up and turned to face Oliver directly.

"I’ve sent him the ssage," she said, watching his face carefully for his reaction.

Oliver nodded slowly, that sa calm and unshakeable confidence settling across his features like a man who had just received exactly the news he was expecting.

"No problem at all," he said simply. "You have done well, Cora. You made the right decision." He shifted slightly in his seat to look at her more fully, his voice taking on that quiet authority that she was beginning to recognize as simply being who he was at his core.

"Now just leave everything entirely to from this point forward. I will carry you along every step of the way so you’re never in the dark about what’s happening, and when the ti cos for us to go and et him, you don’t have to say a single word more than necessary. You don’t have to doubt for even one second, and you don’t have to be afraid of anything."

His eyes held hers steadily as he continued.

"Just leave your situation completely in my hands. I will handle it amicably, I will handle it thoroughly, and when it’s all over, Lovi will never be in a position to threaten you or anyone else with sothing like this ever again. I promise you that."

At that mont, Cora nodded her head again, feeling sothing that she hadn’t felt since she first opened that email - sothing that felt remarkably close to genuine relief beginning to seep through the cracks of her anxiety.

"No problem then," she said quietly, and then she paused, biting her lower lip as sothing else pressed urgently against her chest, sothing she needed to say regardless of how uncomfortable it made her feel.

"And Oliver - I’m sorry. I’m truly, deeply sorry if any of this has offended you or changed how you see . I’m very, very sorry for all of it."

Her voice was sincere and raw with vulnerability as she continued.

"But please know that this doesn’t an I don’t love you. It doesn’t change anything about how I feel about you. That video - that was from a completely different Chapter of my life, a ti when I was with soone who turned out to be nothing more than a fool who didn’t deserve a single mont of my ti."

She held his gaze, searching his face for any trace of the disappointnt or judgnt she had been dreading, but finding none.

Imdiately, Oliver’s expression softened into a warm and genuine smile that reached all the way to his eyes, and he reached over to gently cover her hand with his in a gesture that was simple but said everything.

"I understand completely," he said warmly, without a single trace of resentnt or reproach in his voice. "And I’m genuinely glad that fool has already been dealt with and put firmly in his place by life itself long before tonight." He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze before adding with a lightness that deliberately shifted the entire atmosphere inside the car.

"So you have absolutely nothing to explain to and nothing to apologize for. Now - can we please continue enjoying the rest of our evening?"
