Now reading: Chapter 88: THE HEARTBEAT BEYOND EXISTENCE from THE KING OF STARS, a Action novel by Babyface90.

BOOM.

The heartbeat echoed again.

This ti, the effect was imdiate.

Entire regions of the Outside collapsed inward.

Ancient entities fled in terror.

The First Wave creatures that had once threatened creation scattered like frightened insects before a forest fire. Vast horrors capable of consuming universes tore themselves apart in desperate attempts to escape.

None of them cared about heaven anymore.

None of them cared about creation.

Sothing worse had awakened.

Far worse.

Yun felt the convergence around him erupt violently.

Silver roots spread through existence.

Black fractures stretched across dinsions.

For the first ti since its formation, the balance itself appeared unstable.

Not because it was failing.

Because it was afraid.

---

The heartbeat sounded again.

BOOM.

Reality cracked.

A massive fracture appeared beyond the Outside.

Then another.

Then thousands.

The darkness that had always seed infinite suddenly looked small.

Tiny.

Contained.

Like a lake realizing an ocean existed beyond its shores.

Yun stared into the distance.

And finally understood why the being beyond the Outside had called creation incomplete.

Because existence itself was incomplete.

Everything they knew—

Creation.

The Outside.

Heaven.

The Root.

The Devourer.

All of it existed inside sothing larger.

Sothing imasurably larger.

---

The being beyond the Outside slowly lowered its enormous hand.

For the first ti since arriving, it looked genuinely concerned.

The Architect noticed imdiately.

His expression darkened.

"How long?"

The giant eye remained fixed upon the fractures spreading beyond existence.

"Longer than expected."

The Architect cursed.

The Devourer rose higher.

Its wounds had partially regenerated, but black cracks still covered its imnse body.

The primordial giant's voice thundered across reality.

IS IT THE SA ONE?

The being beyond the Outside answered.

"No."

Silence followed.

Then:

"Worse."

The universe froze.

Even the Devourer beca still.

The Root convulsed violently.

The surviving Thrones looked utterly horrified.

Because everyone present understood what that answer ant.

If sothing worse existed than the entity before them—

Then their understanding of danger had been hopelessly inadequate from the beginning.

---

Yun suddenly noticed sothing strange.

The heartbeat wasn't rely a sound.

It was getting closer.

Each pulse felt stronger than the last.

As though whatever had awakened was moving toward them.

Crossing impossible distances.

Approaching.

The realization made his blood run cold.

---

BOOM.

The heartbeat struck again.

This ti an entire section of the Outside disappeared.

Not destroyed.

Removed.

As though a piece of reality had been erased from a painting.

Millions of fleeing entities vanished instantly.

No struggle.

No resistance.

No traces.

Gone.

The Architect watched silently.

Then spoke words that chilled creation.

"It's feeding."

Yun looked toward him.

"What is?"

The Architect did not answer imdiately.

His eyes remained fixed on the fractures spreading through the darkness.

Finally he said:

"The thing that existed before possibility."

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Even the being beyond the Outside did not interrupt.

---

The Architect slowly raised one hand.

Ancient symbols erged around him.

Not heavenly scripts.

Not Root runes.

Not Devourer markings.

These symbols belonged to sothing older.

Sothing forgotten.

Sothing predating history itself.

"The Light and the Dark weren't the first."

The words hit Yun like a physical blow.

His mind rebelled instantly.

Everything they had learned.

Everything they had discovered.

The First Division.

The origin of creation.

The beginning itself.

All of it suddenly felt incomplete.

The Architect continued.

"There was another state before existence."

His voice had beco unusually quiet.

"Before possibility."

Yun felt a growing sense of dread.

The Architect looked toward him.

"You saw fragnts of the beginning."

Yun nodded.

The Architect shook his head.

"No."

The word felt heavy.

"You saw the second beginning."

---

The universe seed to stop.

Even the heartbeat paused.

The convergence around Yun pulsed erratically.

Silver and black threads spread outward as though searching for answers hidden within reality itself.

The Architect continued.

"Before the Light."

His gaze shifted toward the being beyond the Outside.

"Before the Dark."

Then toward the fractures.

"There was only potential."

A pause.

"Not possibility."

Another pause.

"Potential."

The distinction terrified Yun.

Because the Architect sounded afraid of the difference.

---

Then the fractures widened.

A colossal crack opened beyond the Outside.

The darkness split apart.

And sothing erged.

Not fully.

Not completely.

Only a fraction.

Yet that fraction was enough.

Yun's mind nearly shattered.

The thing had no form.

Every ti he attempted to perceive it, his understanding changed.

At one mont it resembled a shadow.

The next a storm.

Then a void.

Then a living equation.

Then sothing that could not be described at all.

Reality refused to define it.

Existence rejected its presence.

The convergence scread.

Actually scread.

For the first ti since gaining awareness, Yun heard the silver and black forces cry out in terror.

---

The being beyond the Outside imdiately stepped forward.

Its enormous hand expanded.

Universes rotated around its fingers.

Entire realities gathered beneath its authority.

The ancient entity that had terrified heaven finally prepared for battle.

And the sight alone horrified Yun.

Because it ant the threat was real.

---

The giant eye narrowed.

"Return."

Its command echoed beyond existence.

The thing erging from the fracture ignored it.

The heartbeat sounded again.

BOOM.

The being beyond the Outside staggered.

Staggered.

The entity that dwarfed creation itself had been pushed backward by a heartbeat.

The Architect's face beca pale.

The Devourer roared.

The Root unleashed countless branches.

The Shepherd summoned every remaining fragnt of heavenly authority.

For the first ti since the war began—

Every major power stood together.

Not because they trusted one another.

Not because old conflicts were resolved.

Because survival demanded it.

---

Then the thing beyond the fracture focused on creation.

Not the Outside.

Not the primordial beings.

Creation.

Yun felt its attention settle upon him.

Upon the convergence.

Upon the balance.

And suddenly—

A mory appeared inside his mind.

Not his mory.

Not the Root's.

Not the Devourer's.

Sothing older.

A forgotten truth buried beneath existence itself.

A voice whispered from sowhere beyond ti.

"The wound was never the separation."

Yun's eyes widened.

The voice continued.

"The wound was what escaped."

Then the mory vanished.

Yun's breathing stopped.

Because he finally understood why every ancient force was terrified.

The Light had not left a wound when it separated from the Dark.

The wound ca afterward.

When sothing else slipped through.

Sothing that should never have existed.

Sothing that did not belong to creation.

Did not belong to the Outside.

Did not belong to reality at all.

And now—

After sleeping longer than universes had existed—

It was awake.
