As the rumblings of confusion lessened, laughter comnced to flow through the pavilion. The mory of those wild 'marriage negotiations' — which had ended in a spirited tug-of-war and a brief flurry of mock sparring moves — lted away. So of the younger ones still half-sparred as they slid from their seats, restless after the earlier contest.

The air glimred with fresh liveliness. Yet the younger ones seed filled with a wild energy that would not be tad.

Chin Chin was the first to spring up. Her enthusiasm bubbled over, fresh and lively as a mountain spring.

"Brother Huang! Brother Zhu! Let's go explore!"

Her voice stiffened with impatience. Her small hands grabbed the dragon brothers' sleeves and yanked, determined to drag them into adventure.

Kim Kim followed, her steps composed but quickening. The gleam in her eyes betrayed her excitent.

"Yes," she said with scholarly enthusiasm. She clasped her hands behind her back as though she were a young professor beginning a field expedition. "I would like to observe the mystical beasts of Mystic Mountain."

Xiao Chi clapped her hands; her scarlet hair flickered at her back like a strear of living fla.

"Yes! Yes! I will show you everything!"

The little phoenix spun, wings fluttering, a red whirlwind of feathers and cheer. She grabbed the twins' sleeves with a quick, playful tug.

"Co! Co!"

Shi Min let out a quiet sigh, gaze calm amid the chaos.

He already knew.

This would not be a peaceful afternoon.

Mushu stepped up with subtle confidence, movents asured and steady.

"I will accompany them."

The Azure Dragon observed with arms loosely folded, lips curled in quiet amusent, before beckoning with a subtle wave.

"Huang. Zhu. Go with them."

Both brothers straightened and answered at once, dipping their heads in sync.

"As you wish, Father."

And so, with temperants buoyant and curiosity blazing, their small expedition proceeded into the heart of Mystic Mountain. Yet as they crossed beneath the arching boughs, a silent truth lingered. Everyone knew that Mystic Mountain did not reveal its wonders to visitors without first testing the strength of their hearts. Even in tis of laughter, the elders said that only the brave would return unchanged.

The Living Mountain

The path that unfurled from the dining pavilion curved gently through the living heart of Mystic Mountain.

On either side, ancient jade bamboo groves swayed. Their slender leaves told secrets to the mountain breeze. Spirit flowers lined the stone trail, petals aglow with a soft, inner radiance.

The air flickered with spiritual energy. It was so thick that sunlight split into ribbons of golden mist.

The children dashed ahead, giggles trailing behind them. The others followed at a gentler pace, enjoying the mountain's wonders.

Their first encounter took place in an open space where soft white clouds drifted slowly along the ground, veiling the earth in a dreamlike haze.

A Cloud Qilin.

Its form echoed that of a deer, yet every movent held the regal grace of a dragon — an entity born of mist and moonlight. Silvery-white fur bubbled like drifting vapor, and the antlers arched skyward, pale and delicate as carved jade, humming delicately with otherworldly power.

At every step, ripples spread through the luminous clouds at its feet, glowing with curling patterns as if responding to its passage. It was as if it walked upon a living, conscious sea of mist.

Kim Kim stopped instantly — her body still, alert. Curiosity lit her face.

"A Cloud Qilin," she uttered. Her eyes shone with admiration.

"They are said to appear only in lands blessed by heavenly harmony."

But Chin Chin did not share her sister's academic restraint. She sprang forward, arms pumping, head high, eager.

"Hello!"

The Qilin turned. Its shining eyes settled on the little girl with a gaze as deep as moonlit water.

To everyone's surprise—

It did not retreat.

Instead, it dipped its head in a gesture both kind and regal.

Chin Chin gasped. "It likes !" She reached forward, trying to pat its neck.

The Qilin exhaled, and its breath itself curled into tiny clouds that drifted in the morning air.

Zhu chuckled. "Well, that's new."

Xiao Chi pointed excitedly in another direction.

"Look! Look there!"

Across the clearing, a cluster of Jade Antler Deer stood watchful among the wildflowers.

Their slender bodies shimred with fur the color of new leaves. Their antlers branched like living jade, faintly aglow with spiritual light which hinted at their connection to the forest's spirit realm.

Wherever their hooves touched the grass, spiritual energy gathered, causing tiny mystical blossoms and herbs to spring up in their wake, boosting the mountain's vitality.

"They grow spirit herbs wherever they walk," Kim Kim observed with fascination. "Spirit herbs are highly prized for martial cultivation and healing," she added, her eyes luminous. "Many martial artists seek these herbs to strengthen their bodies and advance their training."

Chin Chin tiptoed toward a deer, arms outstretched, intent plain in every step.

"I want to ride it!"

The deer scattered instantly.

"Ah!" Chin Chin stomped her foot.

"They run too fast!"

Zhu laughed loudly. "You tried to ride a Jade Antler Deer?"

"Why not?"

"It's not a horse."

"Everything can be a horse."

"...."

Farther along the path, they ca upon a sprawling fig tree, its branches alive with dozens of Spirit Monkeys leaping and chattering within the leaves.

Small, bright-eyed creatures with golden fur and long, expressive tails leaped and played. They sped through the canopy like streaks of sunlight.

One monkey jumped down and stole a peach from Zhu's sleeve.

"Hey!" Zhu blinked.

"How did you—"

The monkey stuck out its tongue. Then it scampered away.

Chin Chin burst out laughing, body shaking with amusent at Zhu's plight.

Kim Kim bent down to the forest floor, extending a fruit in one open palm toward another monkey.

"Please return the peach."

The monkey considered. Then stole the fruit as well.

Kim Kim "...."

Below the pavilion, near the waterfall's basin, another mystical creature made its ho.

The Crystal Tortoise.

It rested half-subrged in the crystal pool, where the waterfall's song echoed over its ancient shell.

Its shell rose from the water like a do of translucent crystal. The etched patterns upon the shell lit softly, each rune radiating with the suggestion of an old language and stories lost to ti.

Water slid over its back in smooth sheets, as if repelled by a hidden aura. The surface reflected like liquid glass beneath the sun, shimring with a mystical light.

Chin Chin leaned dangerously close to the water. "Can I ride this one?"

Shi Min spoke imdiately. "No."

"Why?"

"It weighs more than ten mountains."

Chin Chin stomped her boot and let out a dramatic sigh. "Everything here is impossible to ride." She glared at the slope, as if the mountain itself had betrayed her.

Huang chuckled, shaking his head as he watched her exaggerated pout.

The Beasts React

The primary sign ca from the Cloud Qilin.

The majestic creature halted mid-step, every muscle tensed as if listening to a faint call.

Its ears twitched.

Then—

It turned.

Not toward the twins.

Not toward Xiao Chi.

Not toward the dragons.

It looked directly at Shi Min.

A quiet fell over the clearing. It seed as though the mountain itself caught its breath.

The Qilin slowly stepped forward.

Huang noticed imdiately.

"That is unusual."

The creature approached Shi Min.

Then—

To everyone's surprise—

It lowered its front legs.

And knelt.

Chin Chin blinked.

"Why is it bowing?"

Kim Kim whispered softly.

"Qilin bow only before kings… or beings they recognize as superior."

For a mont, even the air around Shi Min seed to quiver with sothing unfathomable — a quiet force neither light nor shadow, but woven deep into the bones of the mountain itself. No one knew where Shi Min had co from. Sotis, when the mountain beasts looked at him, it was as if they saw sothing ancient stirring under his calm surface.

The Wind Foxes stopped playing.

The Spirit Monkeys went silent.

Birds that had been singing monts before suddenly took flight.

A weird stillness passed through the forest, spreading over every leaf and stone.

Zhu's expression changed.

"…Did you do sothing?"

Shi Min frowned slightly.

"No."

Directly beneath his feet, sothing trembled — silent and unseen.

Not visibly.

Not clearly.

The shadow on the ground stretched, lengthening in defiance of the sun.

For half a second—

For an instant, the outline of sothing colossal sparkled beneath him. It was ancient and unfathomable.

Huang saw it.

His amber eyes narrowed.

That was not spiritual pressure.

That was… sothing deeper.

Sothing structural.

Shi Min stepped forward calmly.

In an instant, the shadow vanished, leaving only sunlight and the calm of the mountain.

The animals slowly relaxed again.

Chin Chin blinked.

"Big Brother, did you scare them?"

"No."

But Huang was no longer convinced.

A subtle determination flickered in his gaze. Perhaps, he thought, the ti would co when he would seek answers from Shi Min himself — and test just how deep his secrets truly ran.
