The river plains erupted into full-scale war as the sun climbed toward its zenith.

Alpha Magnus launched his assault with ruthless precision, committing three allied packs in a coordinated multi-pronged attack designed to split the royal forces. The main northern host slamd into the central ford under Magnus’s personal banner, thousands of battle-hardened wolves howling as they charged through the blood-red water. At the sa ti, a strong eastern column, reinforced by opportunistic border packs that had secretly pledged to him; pushed hard against Lady Sera’s flank, while a smaller but vicious western force struck Elowen’s lines, aiming to create chaos and force the defenders to spread thin.

The scale was staggering. Howls rolled across the plains like thunder. The ground shook under the weight of charging wolves. Steel flashed alongside claws and fangs as both sides abandoned all restraint.

Seren fought in the thick of it beside her mates, shifting fluidly between human and wolf form as Kael had trained her. Her smaller dark wolf darted through the chaos, using speed and the bond to strike at vulnerabilities before retreating behind heavier lines. In human shape, her enhanced strength let her wield a short blade with lethal accuracy.

The bond pulsed constantly between the four of them; Kael’s raw protective fury, Aeron’s razor-sharp calculations, Theron’s cool shadows, and Seren’s own growing wolf resolve anchoring them together.

Kael led from the front, a towering black wolf of pure destruction. He roared commands that carried over the din, his massive form smashing through northern elites and rallying the royal guard with sheer presence. "Hold the centre! Push them back into the water!"

Aeron remained slightly behind the main line on a low rise, directing the overall strategy with cold efficiency. ssengers and signal horns relayed his orders instantly. He anticipated Magnus’s feints, shifting reserves to reinforce weak points before they collapsed. His voice cut through the bond like a blade: *Eastern flank is buckling. Send two companies to support Sera. Western line...Theron, disrupt their coordination.*

Theron moved like a living night. His shadow teams slipped behind enemy lines, cutting communication runners, sabotaging supply wagons, and sowing confusion with targeted strikes. Northern wolves found their orders contradictory or missing entirely. Allied packs that had joined Magnus began arguing among themselves as ssages failed to reach them.

The battle spread rapidly beyond the river plains. Magnus’s forces pushed hard enough to break through in several places, carrying the fighting into the kingdom proper: small villages and border woods becoming secondary battlegrounds. Smoke rose from burning farmsteads as northern raiders tried to draw defenders away from the main clash.

Seren felt the weight of it all through her heightened senses. She slled the fear and bloodlust on the wind, heard the desperate howls of dying wolves on both sides, and tasted the shifting loyalties of wavering allied houses. Lady Sera’s eastern warriors held for now, but Seren caught the sour note of hesitation in so of their scents. Elowen’s lines were holding, yet the princess’s forces fought with calculated detachnt, clearly preserving strength for whatever ca after.

Kael slamd into a cluster of Magnus’s elite guard, tearing through them with savage sweeps of claw and fang. Blood sprayed across his dark fur. *Seren, stay close to Aeron. Don’t push too far forward.*

*We need every blade,* she sent back through the bond, shifting to wolf form and hamstringing an enemy that had broken through the line. *I’m not fragile anymore.*

Aeron’s voice cut in, calm but urgent. *Flank left...Magnus is trying to envelop us. Theron, hit their command chain now.*

Theron’s response was a shadow slipping through the chaos. His teams struck a northern command post, killing ssengers and scattering officers. For a precious few minutes, Magnus’s coordinated assault faltered.

Yet the northern alpha adapted quickly. He committed fresh reserves, pushing harder against Sera’s eastern position where personal offers of power had already sown doubt. Howls of betrayal rose as one minor eastern house wavered and began to pull back.

Seren shifted back to human form, blade flashing as she fought beside a group of royal guards. Her new strength let her parry blows that would have shattered a normal human’s arm. She slled the lie on the wind when a captured northern scout claid Magnus was retreating; bitter and tallic.

The battle raged across miles. Villages behind the plains beca makeshift strongholds or burning ruins. The triplets’ combined abilities shone even in the madness: Kael’s direct command kept the centre from collapsing, Aeron’s strategy prevented total encirclent, and Theron’s intelligence disruptions slowed Magnus’s ability to exploit breakthroughs.

Marina and Lysa worked frantically in the healing tents far behind the lines. Wounded poured in faster than they could treat them. Marina’s steady hands and ancient redies kept many alive. Lysa organized the human volunteers with quiet determination, proving her loyalty went far beyond words.

As the sun began its slow descent, Magnus launched a final, brutal push at the central ford. His personal guard: massive, silver-trimd wolves, charged straight at Kael’s position, aiming to break the triumvirate’s heart.

Kael t them head-on, roaring a challenge that shook the plains. Seren felt the bond strain as he took heavy wounds but refused to yield.

Aeron’s orders ca fast and precise. *Theron, disrupt their rear now. Seren, support Kael. We cannot lose the centre.*

Seren shifted and charged forward; her wolf forms a dark blur. The bond burned bright with shared purpose and love.

But as she reached Kael’s side and the two of them tore into Magnus’s elite, a new howl rose from the eastern flank, sharp and triumphant.

Lady Sera’s lines were breaking. Several of her captains had accepted Magnus’s offers and were turning their blades inward, attacking the royal forces from behind.

The fragile alliances were fracturing under the weight of the assault.

Magnus’s laughter carried across the river on the wind; cold and victorious.

The battle that would decide the kingdom had only just reached its true fury.

Apparently, the triumvirate’s lines threatened to collapse completely with traitors now striking from within.
