Magnus’s elite personal guard had broken through a weakened section of the eastern flank where Sera’s turncoats had created an opening. Hundreds of silver-trimd northern warriors poured into the royal rear with murderous intent. Their howls carried a single, chilling focus; not the main lines, not Kael, but Seren herself. Magnus had recognized the danger she posed: the human-turned-wolf who had beco a living symbol of unity between species. Eliminating her would shatter the inspiration holding the royal forces together.

Seren felt the shift through the bond the mont the elite guard changed direction.

*They’re coming for ,* she sent urgently.

Kael’s roar of denial shook the battlefield. *Stay with Aeron! I’m coming!*

Aeron’s voice snapped through the link, sharp with command. *Fall back to the command rise. Now!*

Theron’s shadows surged toward her position, but they were too far. Elowen’s forces, still pressing from the eastern ridge, were also too distant to intercept in ti.

Seren tried to retreat, but the chaos of battle worked against her. A wave of northern wolves cut off her path back to the main royal lines. She shifted to wolf form and tried to weave through, but Magnus’s elites were faster and more experienced. They herded her deliberately, driving her away from the heaviest fighting and deeper into a narrow-wooded ravine that branched off the main plains.

The sounds of the larger battle grew muffled as trees closed around her. The elite guard closed in from three sides, their silver-trimd armour glinting through the underbrush. Seren’s heart hamred. She was powerful now, but inexperienced. These were Magnus’s finest. Veterans with decades of border wars behind them.

She skidded to a halt in a small clearing, chest heaving, golden-flecked eyes scanning for escape. The bond pulled painfully, Kael and Aeron desperately trying to reach her while fighting their own battles. Theron’s presence brushed against her mind like cool silk, but even his shadows were delayed by the chaos.

Then Magnus himself appeared.

The massive silver-streaked alpha stepped into the clearing, his wolf form imposing and battle-scarred. He shifted partially as he approached, towering over her in a hybrid state that blended man and beast. His golden eyes burned with cold ambition.

"Seren," he rumbled, voice layered with alpha power. "The changed human. You have caused more trouble than any single creature should. Stand down. Surrender peacefully, and this war ends here."

Seren shifted back to human form, claws extended, blade still gripped tightly in one hand. Blood streaked her arms and the dark fur along her shoulders. "Why would I surrender to the wolf who tried to tear my kingdom apart?"

Magnus’s lips curled into a dangerous smile. "Because I offer you rcy the triplets never will. Co with willingly, and I will end the bloodshed. Thousands of lives; wolf and human, will be spared. My legions will withdraw. The war will end today."

He took a slow step closer, his presence overwhelming. "You would be treated well as my mate. I can give you true power and position. No sharing. No complications of serving three masters who weaken you with their divided claim. A single strong alpha can protect you properly. The bond with three dilutes you, it makes you vulnerable. I have seen it in battle today. You fight bravely, but you are still learning. With , you would stand at the side of one who knows how to rule."

Seren’s golden-flecked eyes flashed with defiance. The bond scread with the triplets’ fury and fear for her, but she stood her ground. "You paint them as selfish, but you are the one who would burn the kingdom to claim a prize. I chose them. I chose the kingdom they are building, one where wolves and humans stand together. I will not be your trophy or your symbol of conquest."

Magnus’s expression hardened. "Foolish girl. You think the triplets care for you beyond what you give them? They share you because it suits their power. I would make you queen in truth."

He lunged without warning.

The attack was devastating. Magnus moved with decades of experience, his strikes precise and overwhelming. Seren barely dodged the first blow, his claws raking the air where her throat had been. She shifted to wolf form instinctively and countered, but he was faster, stronger, and far more seasoned. His shoulder slamd into her side, sending her tumbling across the clearing. Pain flared along her ribs.

She rolled to her feet, snarling, and struck back. Her claws caught his flank, drawing blood, but the wound was shallow. Magnus laughed, a low, mocking sound.

"You fight well for one so young and newly changed. But you are still a pup compared to ."

He pressed the attack relentlessly, forcing her deeper into the ravine and further away from the main battle. Seren fought for her life, using every lesson Kael had taught her; speed, agility, striking and retreating. She landed several hits, but Magnus absorbed them with grim endurance while his own strikes grew more dangerous.

The bond was a storm of desperation. Kael was trying to break free from his own fight. Aeron was redirecting forces toward her location. Theron’s shadows were racing through the trees. But the distance and the chaos made rescue slow.

Seren’s breath ca in ragged gasps. Blood matted her dark fur. Her inexperience showed in small mistakes; overextending, hesitating a fraction too long. Magnus exploited every one of it.

"You could have ended this," he growled between strikes. "Thousands will die because you cling to three selfish alphas."

Seren refused to yield. "I choose them. I choose unity."

Magnus’s eyes glead with cold satisfaction as he cornered her against a rocky outcrop. "Then you will die for that choice."

He lunged again, this ti with brutal finality.

Seren braced herself, claws extended, knowing she could not match his experience or raw power alone.

The bond scread with the triplets’ terror and love as they fought desperately to reach her.

But they were still far.

Magnus’s jaws descended on her with unstoppable force.
