'Little Xuey-Bird' has requested to add you as a friend.
Seeing the sudden QQ notification pop up, Lorze hesitated for a mont before accepting her friend request.
It was probably that classmate 'Xue' from the group chat just now, right?
He didn't usually pay much attention to his classmates. In the six months since he transmigrated, he'd been completely absorbed in cramming for the Basic Trainer Certification exam. He didn't have the ti or energy to give a shit about socializing.
He had, however, briefly scoped out a few of the hot girls in his class. This girl nad Xue was exceptionally beautiful—the kind you couldn't help but steal a few extra glances at. So, he had a vague impression of her.
Xue Yi: Lorze, do you have a minute?
Lorze: Just getting ready to cuddle my Ralts and go to sleep.
Xue Yi: Wasn't it a Gamble Fish?
Lorze: ?
Lorze: Are we never letting this die, or what?
Xue Yi: Okay, I just wanted to ask what you ant earlier about Umbreon...?
Lorze: Oh, that. I was trying to type Leafeon but made a typo. My bad, lol.
Xue Yi: ?
Xue Yi: Are you sure it was a typo?
Lorze: 100% positive and absolutely sure.
Xue Yi: I don't buy it. Then tell , why would you recomnd using Leafeon to counter a Psychic-type?
Lorze: I got my type matchups mixed up, didn't I? I thought Grass was super effective against Psychic for a second. The mont I realized my mistake, I dropped it.
Xue Yi: Tsk. 'Mixed up', sure. I'm genuinely curious how the hell you managed to pass the Basic Trainer Certification exam.
Lorze: Because I didn't mix it up during the exam, obviously~
Xue Yi: So you conveniently only misrember things when you need to?
Lorze: Welp~ Who knows? Anyway, I'm heading to bed. (:з」∠)
Xue Yi: ...
Soone just permanently revoked their dating privileges, but she wouldn't say who.
Honestly, even if she said it, it wouldn't matter. Lorze's entire heart and soul were currently occupied by Ralts. Where would he find the extra energy to give a fuck about other won?
Besides, he wasn't even 100% sure about Umbreon's actual evolution conditions in this reality. If it really was as simple as the gas, it absolutely wouldn't have remained undiscovered until now.
So, before he fully figured out the exact chanics, it'd be pretty shitty of him to scam her with faulty info, right?
And even if the conditions turned out to be nearly identical to the gas, he had even less of a fucking reason to tell her.
Sure, Xue Yi was a drop-dead gorgeous girl. Using this chance to get on her good side and flirt wouldn't be a bad move.
But right now, compared to chasing tail, Lorze desperately needed to confront the harsh reality of being completely broke. The discovery of a brand-new Eeveelution could undoubtedly net him a massive payout. Why the hell would he hand over the evolution secrets for free?
If she turned around and publicly leaked the evolution thod, he'd take a massive fucking loss!
It just so happened that the gacorporation behind the Pokédex App was desperately scrambling to collect first-hand data on various Pokémon to perfect their database and crush their competitors.
Lorze could absolutely publish the hidden Abilities and evolutions he knew onto the Pokédex App in exchange for serious cash. Secrets that entire research institutes were racking their brains to figure out were nothing more than casual mories stored in his brain.
The only catch was, if he wanted his published data to be verified and accepted, he'd need concrete experintal data to back it up, ideally accompanied by high-quality video evidence.
That put him in a tough spot. Where the fuck was he supposed to find the relevant Pokémon to research and record?
He could only try to rack his brain and figure out which Pokémon Abilities didn't require heavy empirical data to prove. Nothing ca to mind at the mont, so he'd just take his ti.
...
anwhile, on the other end.
Xue Yi stared blankly at her screen. No matter what she sent, a certain bastard completely ignored her. She fell into dead silence.
She considered herself a pretty attractive woman. Was Lorze really that repulsed by the idea of talking to her?
Was he playing hard to get?
Or did he just refuse to reveal the secrets of Umbreon's evolution?
But if you didn't want to talk about it, why the fuck would you randomly drop it in the group chat in the first place?!
Xue Yi absolutely refused to swallow that "I thought Grass countered Psychic" bullshit. She scrolled back up to read Lorze's logs in the group chat. He was explicitly talking about Umbreon from the very beginning; he just inexplicably changed his tune later on.
Did he realize halfway through typing that this was a top-tier secret that shouldn't be publicly leaked?
Well, aren't you a paranoid little genius!
Xue Yi probably wasn't going to get a single wink of sleep tonight, entirely because a certain soone completely ruined her peace of mind.
Based on the brief crumbs of intel Lorze dropped, it wasn't hard to deduce that Umbreon had to be a Dark-type. This was exactly the kind of Pokémon she desperately needed right now.
The only puzzling thing was: why did she believe so strongly that Lorze genuinely knew about Umbreon?
The reason was quite simple. You've heard of the Snowhide Corporation, right?
Snowhide Corp was a massive, rapidly rising gacorporation that had exploded in recent years. Their business tentacles reached into everything, holding major market shares in everything from Pokémon Food to Battle Dojos. But their most universally recognized achievent was...
The Pokédex App, jointly launched by Snowhide Corp and nurous elite research institutes.
You could probably guess from her na alone: Xue Yi was the youngest daughter of the current reigning head of Snowhide Corp. Consequently, she had visited top-secret Pokémon labs frequently and was privy to highly classified insider knowledge that normal people could never access.
For example, the burning question of exactly how many hidden evolutions Eevee still possessed. Many institutes were aggressively researching this, and naturally, theirs was no exception.
Eevee possessed an incredibly unstable genetic structure that was hyper-sensitive to external environntal energy. Even the lowest-grade Evolution Stone could trigger a violent, radical shift in their biological form.
This was precisely why Eevee had so many different evolutionary branches.
But the bizarre part was, there were far more than just Water, Fire, Thunder, Ice, and Leaf Evolution Stones out there that contained imnse energy. So why did Eevee only react so violently to these five specific stones?
When exposed to any other type of Evolution Stone, Eevee's cells acted like an inert noble gas—completely unresponsive and dead to the world.
However, among these "Inert Evolution Stones," the Shiny Stone and Moon Stone were a strange anomaly. These two stones genuinely managed to trigger a microscopic reaction within Eevee, but the reaction was far too weak, absolutely insufficient to force a biological mutation.
Currently, the scientists could only hypothesize that Eevee undoubtedly possessed at least two more hidden evolutions intimately linked to the Shiny Stone and the Moon Stone. Her family's research institute had even gone ahead and temporarily designated these two hidden forms as "Light Eevee" and "Umbreon."
All they needed was to figure out the exact thod to force an evolution using these two stones.
So, right at this critical bottleneck, a random kid nad Lorze suddenly popped out and casually dropped the na "Umbreon," sounding absolutely 100% certain of its existence. How the hell could she not care?!
She cared so much it was driving her fucking crazy!
She strongly suspected that the Umbreon Lorze ntioned was precisely a Dark-type Eeveelution triggered by the Moon Stone. If that was true, then her previous plan of giving her Eevee an Ice Stone had to be imdiately postponed.
Right now, she needed a Dark-type Eevee infinitely more than she needed a Glaceon.
Because only by walking down this specific path did she stand a glimr of hope at defeating her older sister...
Her sister was the absolute defining icon of the current younger generation. You could constantly see her dominating the news headlines.
That's right. Her sister was Xue Tong, the sa prodigy the internet had already universally crowned as the future Psychic Elite.
Not only was her sister a literal human psychic, but she was also a chosen prodigy, having been voluntarily picked by a Shiny Ralts back in junior high. Her entire rise to power was steeped in legendary flair.
From her debut until now, her sister had never tasted defeat. Hell, hardly anyone had even managed to force her into utilizing her human psychic powers.
Xue Yi deeply admired her overwhelmingly powerful sister.
But at the sa ti, she hated that her mother's eyes only ever saw her sister.
If she wanted to conquer the insurmountable mountain that was her sister, she had absolutely no other choice but to walk the path of the Dark-type.
Sigh. It looked like once the sester started, she was going to have to hunt down Lorze and have a very, very serious talk...
