Norimar's deep voice echoed through the vast chamber as he turned to three figures in the group—Rhedel, Elspeth, and Sagona.

Without a word, they stepped forward, their expressions grim and focused. The chamber they entered was unlike anything they could have imagined, vast and ancient, its high vaulted ceilings stretching far above them. The walls were lined with intricate carvings, glowing faintly in a purple hue, the language and symbols an enigma even to the most learned scholars.

Around the edges of the chamber were pit-like recesses carved into the walls, evenly spaced at regular intervals, each glowing faintly with latent energy.

At the very centre of the chamber was a tall rectangular pit, its depth impossible to discern, and from within it pulsed an eerie purple light that seed to breathe with a life of its own.

This was the Archaic Citadel, the place Daratrine talked about. Unknown to them, serpents have already found it.

Unconscious bodies lay scattered in the middle of the chamber—young man and won, their faces serene but unnervingly pale, as though so force had drawn the very life from their veins.

They were Alaryc, the holy kingdom's princess Anashyssa, and Elowen, the elf girl. Their motionless forms seed fragile, almost like marionettes waiting for their strings to be pulled.

Norimar raised his hands, his form imposing as he gestured toward the chamber's centre. The intricate carvings on the walls glowed brighter in response, bathing the chamber in a pulsating purple light.

A low rumble began to reverberate through the room as the ancient chanisms of the citadel awakened, the floor trembling beneath their feet. The chamber itself began to shift, the walls sliding and rearranging as if the room were alive, adjusting to their presence.

Elsbeth stepped forward next, her midnight-black robes billowing as though caught in an unseen wind. Her pale hands gripped her staff tightly, the sapphire atop it glowing with a cold, otherworldly light. She extended her free hand toward the bodies on the ground, her icy blue eyes narrowing in concentration.

Slowly, the unconscious young man and won began to rise into the air, their bodies limp as though suspended by invisible strings. They floated toward the centre of the chamber, hovering above the tall rectangular pit.

The atmosphere grew thick with tension as a sudden surge of purple light shot upward from the pit, latching onto the floating bodies like tendrils of energy. The chamber shuddered violently, and the purple glow intensified, casting an eerie, otherworldly hue over everything. The young man and the won, now caught in the grip of the light, began to stir faintly, their expressions twisting in pain as if so unseen force was tearing through them.

Norimar's voice bood over the chaos. "It has begun. The energy within them—the chaos—is being drawn out. Keep your focus. We cannot afford a mistake."

Elsbeth nodded, her gaze unwavering as she manipulated the floating figures. The tendrils of purple light seed to respond to her will, wrapping around the young bodies and pulling them closer to the pit. As they hovered above the void, the energy within them began to flow outward, a vibrant purple stream that seed to pulse with raw, untad power.

Sagona, standing near one of the wall pits, raised her hands, her fiery red hair glowing faintly as she channelled her energy. The chaos energy flowing from the young man and the won began to split, streams of it diverging toward the smaller pits along the walls. The air grew heavy with magic, the sheer force of the ritual pressing down on everyone present.

Rhedel, his gaunt figure shrouded in shadows, stood near the central pit, his bony fingers weaving intricate patterns in the air. Dark runes ford around him, glowing briefly before fading into the ether. He seed to be stabilizing the ritual, ensuring the energy flowed properly into the shards that were forming around the floating figures. The shards themselves were crystalline, their surfaces shimring with a deep, unnatural purple light. They pulsed rhythmically, like beating hearts, as they absorbed the chaos energy.

The chamber shook violently as the flow of energy intensified, the very walls groaning under the strain. Norimar's sharp eyes darted to Elsbeth. "Control it! We cannot let the energy overwhelm the chamber!"

Alaryc and others were drawn to the pits, and a purple shard ford around them, and the power flowed into the shard.

The chamber pulsed with an ominous rhythm as the ritual continued, the purple energy streaming from the young vessels into the crystalline shards.

Norimar, Elsbeth, Sagona, and Rhedel maintained their focus, their hands weaving patterns of control as they channelled and stabilized the chaotic flow. The air vibrated with raw power, the ancient chanisms of the Archaic Citadel responding to the energy with groans and shudders.

The shards, forming with precision under the guidance of the ritualists, glowed brighter with each passing mont. They humd with a nacing energy, a testant to the power being sealed within. Norimar's sharp commands echoed in the chamber as he directed the flow, ensuring the process remained stable. Every mber of the group understood the stakes—if even a fraction of the chaos energy escaped uncontrolled, it could devastate the forest and beyond.
