Nathan Thorne, standing opposite the woman, was the closest person to her.
At such a close distance, Nathan Thorne didn’t just get a clear view of the scene.
The splattering crimson blood even sprayed onto his face.
Feeling the warm liquid run down his face, Nathan Thorne was completely stunned.
It all happened so fast he couldn’t even react.
Sierra Sullivan’s reflexes were much faster. Without a second thought, she rushed forward and kicked the man who was biting the woman away.
Although the man was kicked away, his mouth was still clamped tightly onto the woman’s neck, and he managed to rip off a chunk of flesh.
The woman clutched her neck, her body went completely limp, and she collapsed to the floor.
Sierra Sullivan walked over, knelt to check on her, and sighed internally.
’She’s a lost cause.’
’Her arteries are severed.’
Blood was gushing out nonstop, and it was clear she was breathing her last.
The woman clutched her neck with one hand, while her other hand trembled as it rose, reaching out toward Sierra Sullivan.
Sierra Sullivan understood what she wanted. She was asking for help.
But there was nothing she could do.
The woman’s hand had only reached halfway when her eyes suddenly widened, then instantly lost their light. The outstretched hand fell limply to the ground.
She was no longer breathing, but her eyes remained wide open, filled with disbelief and a desperate desire to live.
Even though life in the apocalypse was hard and full of suffering, who would willingly choose to die if they could live?
This woman might not have survived forever, but without this, she might have lived a little longer.
It was just a pity...
Now it was too late for anything.
While Sierra Sullivan was checking the woman’s condition, Jayce had already co over. He stood in front of Sierra, watching the situation in the room vigilantly.
The man Sierra had kicked away was now slowly getting up from the floor.
His movents seed sowhat clumsy.
It was as if he were a person who had just taken possession of a body and wasn’t yet familiar with it.
Several tis he was about to get up, only to fall hard back onto the floor.
But after repeated attempts, he finally managed to climb to his feet.
But his posture was incredibly awkward, not at all like a normal person’s.
’He looks... kind of like a zombie from a movie.’
The thought startled Sierra Sullivan.
The endless yellow sands and countless Aberrant Beasts had already drastically reduced humanity’s living space.
’If zombies were added to the mix...’
Sierra Sullivan didn’t dare to imagine the scene.
"ROAR!"
The man let out a hoarse roar, his eyes bloodshot.
His mouth was covered in blood, and there were even shreds of flesh stuck between his teeth.
The sight was both terrifying and disgusting.
Following his roar, people began to shuffle out from the several bedrooms.
Their behavior and movents were similar to the man’s.
Bodies contorted, expressions bizarre.
All of their eyes were blood-red.
When they looked over, their eyes held nothing but a craving for flesh and blood.
Nathan Thorne watched this scene, his eyes wide with horror. "Zombies! They’ve all turned into zombies!"
Their group had already attracted a lot of attention when they ca upstairs.
The corridor outside was already packed with survivors.
When the woman was suddenly bitten, not many people saw it because Nathan Thorne was blocking the view.
They only knew that sothing might have happened, but they weren’t clear on the specifics.
It wasn’t until they heard Nathan Thorne’s shout that they finally understood what was going on.
Anyone who had lived in modern society was familiar with the word "zombie."
Even if they hadn’t seen movies on the subject, they had heard of the infamous zombies.
Now, hearing there were zombies, everyone turned pale with fright. They scrambled to their feet and rushed frantically for the stairs.
The staircase was already crowded with survivors, requiring one to walk with extre care.
With so many people suddenly rushing downstairs, the staircase instantly descended into chaos.
Many people still didn’t know what was happening, but human instinct is to flee from danger.
Just seeing so many people running downstairs in a panic was enough to know that sothing terrible had occurred.
Not daring to delay, they also hurried to follow the crowd downstairs.
Even without seeing the scene firsthand, just from the sounds, you could tell it was a total ss.
With such a large mass of people going downstairs, a stampede could easily happen!
But there was nothing to be done, and no ti to stop them.
’It’s better that these people ran off.’
’Saves them from getting accidentally scratched or bitten later, which would just cause more trouble.’
"Sierra, be careful," Jayce whispered as a warning.
Sierra Sullivan nodded. "I know. You be careful too! Try to leave one alive... but if you can’t, then forget it."
If they left one alive, they could at least study it to see if they had truly turned into zombies.
But in the current situation, their own safety was, of course, more important.
They couldn’t risk their own lives just to capture a live specin.
As the two spoke, the zombies were already charging toward them.
They seed to be driven by a primal hunger for flesh and blood. Their fingernails had grown long, and their tolerance for pain was much higher.
At first, Sierra Sullivan and Jayce didn’t use their Superpowers on them, but they soon discovered that after being knocked down, the zombies would quickly get back up, faster each ti.
Even though their bodies were covered in wounds, it didn’t affect their movents.
In fact, after being injured repeatedly, their wounds actually began to heal at an unusually fast rate.
This was a self-healing ability they had never seen before.
Sierra Sullivan and Jayce had used up a considerable amount of stamina and knew they couldn’t go on like this.
In the end, they had no choice but to use their Superpowers and kill all the zombies.
Only when their heads were gone did they finally fall quiet, lying on the ground without getting up again.
Looking at the eight or nine headless, mangled corpses filling the room, Sierra Sullivan instinctively wanted to gag.
This wasn’t the first ti Sierra Sullivan had seen blood, nor was it her first battle.
When fighting Aberrant Beasts, scenes far bloodier than this were common.
But those were Aberrant Beasts!
Different creatures!
But the things before her now had been living people just monts ago.
And now, she had used her abilities to utterly destroy them.
The psychological impact was still significant.
Sierra Sullivan took a deep breath and turned her head away.
As she turned, she saw Jayce walking toward one of the heads.
He was staring at it without blinking.
Almost instantly, Sierra Sullivan understood Jayce’s intention.
"You’re not thinking of checking to see if they have Crystal Cores in their heads, are you?"
Jayce nodded seriously. "Yeah! That’s exactly what I want to see!"
