"Who said it’d be a hassle!" Jayce lifted his chin. "My old man has his status. What’s wrong with him helping his daughter-in-law keep an apartnt? You’ve got connections and you’re not using them. Are you stupid?"
"You’re the stupid one!"
Sierra Sullivan’s cheeks grew warm, and she shot him a glare.
’Daughter-in-law?’
’Since when was I his wife?’
"The base was just established, so everything is still chaotic. We can’t give anyone leverage over us for sothing like this. Besides, you know nothing about the supplies I have! Today, you’re going to see for yourself!"
As she spoke, Sierra took Jayce’s hand.
’I might as well see if I can bring Jayce into the space.’
In the next instant, they both appeared inside the space.
Seeing Jayce standing beside her, Sierra finally breathed a sigh of relief.
’Good, Jayce can get in!’
’From now on, I can leave the farming to Jayce!’
Jayce, completely unaware of what Sierra was thinking, curiously looked at his surroundings.
"I’ve read novels, too," Jayce said. "The spaces in them are always huge. Yours is..."
Before Jayce could finish, Sierra punched him in the arm. "You should be glad I have one at all, and you’re being picky?"
"I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare!"
Jayce rubbed his arm.
"How would I dare be picky? I just made one little comnt and you’re already resorting to dostic violence. I’m going to report you to the Won’s Federation!"
The corners of Sierra’s mouth twitched uncontrollably. "Go on, then!"
"Forget it!" Jayce huffed. "I’m tough-skinned and not afraid of a little pain. You just be careful with your hand. I don’t mind you hitting , but don’t go and hurt yourself!"
Sierra, "..."
’That mouth of his!’
’I can never win an argunt with him!’
’I used to just think Jayce talked too much and that his words were grating.’
’But now it seems there are so perks to him being a chatterbox!’
’Sotis, what he says is actually quite nice to hear!’
Sierra didn’t continue the topic. Instead, she showed Jayce the supplies she had prepared and gave him a tour of the space.
Once Jayce saw that Sierra truly wasn’t lacking for supplies, he agreed to her plan of using them to hold onto the apartnt.
They discussed it for a mont, then took so supplies out and piled them in an empty room.
They had just finished when there was a loud BANG on the door.
The sound of knocking imdiately put Sierra on edge.
The video doorbell was broken, so she had no way of seeing who was outside.
Jayce, however, didn’t hesitate. He walked right up to the door. "Who is it?"
"Jayce?"
A man’s voice ca from outside the door.
Judging by the voice, he didn’t sound very old—probably around Jayce’s age.
Sierra looked at Jayce. "You know him?"
Jayce nodded. "Yeah, that’s Hugo Cheney. He’s one of those princelings. His dad and my dad don’t really see eye to eye, so we don’t get along either. What’s he doing here?"
"He followed you?" Sierra guessed.
"I doubt it." Jayce shook his head. "I ca straight here after entering the complex. Even if he saw go into this building, there’s no way he could have found your specific apartnt so precisely."
They weren’t speaking loudly, and the door was well soundproofed, so Hugo Cheney couldn’t have heard them from outside.
Getting no response for a while, Hugo Cheney was clearly growing impatient.
"Jayce? Cat got your tongue? Can’t believe we’d run into each other here! Must be fate, huh? Open up! I’m here for Sierra Sullivan!"
"Here for ?"
Now Sierra was genuinely surprised.
She didn’t even know a Hugo Cheney.
’But he’s not only found my apartnt, he’s asking for by na. Why?’
