Once the story was over, the surroundings fell completely silent.
The children had probably fallen asleep.
But the adults definitely hadn’t.
And yet, not a single person spoke.
Listening to the uneven breathing of the people around her, Sierra Sullivan’s heart gradually grew heavy.
She didn’t know when she’d fallen asleep.
But it felt like she hadn’t been asleep for long before she woke up.
In the darkness, there was a faint rustling sound.
The sound instantly made Sierra Sullivan’s hair stand on end.
The thing she feared most was reptiles.
Especially snakes.
Hearing the sound, she couldn’t help but think of snakes.
"Jayce!"
Sierra Sullivan sat up straight and nudged Jayce. "Did you hear..."
"I heard it!"
Jayce’s voice was also strained.
As the two of them spoke, Dominic Crawford and the others were startled awake.
Silvia Blackwood was still groggy, her voice hoarse and thick with sleep. "What’s wrong? Who’s crawling around on the floor in the middle of the night?"
The atmosphere had been tense.
But hearing Silvia Blackwood’s words, Sierra Sullivan almost laughed out loud.
"Are you an idiot? Who would be crawling around on the floor at a ti like this?"
Silvia Blackwood didn’t get angry at the retort; after all, she wasn’t fully awake.
She just followed that train of thought. "If it’s not a person crawling around, then what is..."
Very few won aren’t afraid of snakes.
Her fear made her even more vigilant.
Before she could finish her sentence, Silvia Blackwood had already guessed what was crawling on the ground.
"Snakes... it couldn’t be snakes, could it?"
Silvia Blackwood’s voice was trembling and on the verge of tears.
Although she was a Superpower User, she was just a Space Ability User with little to no combat ability.
The re thought of snakes crawling around outside made her panic.
No one answered Silvia Blackwood’s question.
Even Sierra Sullivan was only guessing.
The truth was, if they just turned on a flashlight and shone it outside, they would know what was happening.
But, to be cautious, no one turned on a light.
However, just then, through the glass doors and windows, Sierra Sullivan saw soone in another shop not far away turn on a flashlight.
A beam of light illuminated the corridor outside.
Instantly, everyone could clearly see the situation in the corridor.
The corridor was now swarming with a dense mass of snakes.
The scales on these snakes were an earthy yellow.
They could blend in almost perfectly with sand, making them impossible to spot.
The thought of walking on sand only to have a swarm of snakes suddenly erge and surround her sent goosebumps breaking out all over Sierra Sullivan’s body.
’No!’
’I can’t!’
’I can’t think like that!’
Sierra Sullivan shook her head, forcing the chaotic thoughts from her mind.
These snakes seed to have a powerful Perception Power for light; it held an almost fatal attraction for them.
The instant the beam of light appeared, all the snakes twisted and slithered toward that shop.
The snakes varied in size.
The smaller ones were about a ter long, their bodies as thick as a mop handle.
But the large ones were as thick as a person’s thigh and a good several ters long.
Just looking at them made Sierra Sullivan feel like she was suffocating.
Silvia Blackwood was completely frozen in terror.
Her face was deathly pale, her eyes wide with shock.
"Snakes... snakes!"
Silvia Blackwood’s voice was soft, almost a gasp.
Overco with shock and fear, Silvia Blackwood had clearly lost her voice.
Dominic Crawford patted Silvia Blackwood’s shoulder. "Stay inside and don’t co out!"
Terrified as she was, there was no way Silvia Blackwood could join the fight.
Besides, snakes weren’t easy to deal with.
Because of their anatomy, they were too flexible, making them difficult to target with a gun.
To say nothing of the sheer number of snakes.
A single gun was completely useless against them.
Silvia Blackwood nodded repeatedly at his words, but she wasn’t completely reassured.
"I won’t go out, but what if they get in?"
Dominic Crawford didn’t answer this ti.
’What else could we do?’
If these snakes really did break in, there was truly nothing else to be done.
As they spoke, the snakes had already reached the shop where the light had been.
Although the people inside had already turned off the flashlight.
But the snakes that had been drawn over showed no sign of leaving.
They weren’t just crawling around the entrance; they would also rear up and flick their tongues toward the inside.

Once the glass doors and windows were broken, the casualties would be imnse.
"Captain Crawford, Captain Everett, Captain Sullivan, can you think of sothing? Can you save them?" Bruce Rhodes asked, his voice trembling.
Although Bruce Rhodes was older than them, at this mont, he subconsciously saw them as the leaders.
It was probably because they were from the base, so he subconsciously felt they were more capable.
Of course, Sierra Sullivan didn’t want to stand by and watch them die.
The taste of the orange candy from that evening still lingered.
How could she just sit by and do nothing?
"Who are the Superpower Users on your side?" Jayce asked.
"Just !" Bruce Rhodes said.
"Is there any alcohol here?" Jayce asked again.
"Yes, yes, yes!"
"In a mont, I’ll use my Water Ability to break the alcohol bottles. You throw a fireball over there. Can you do it?" Jayce asked in a low, serious voice.
Right now, the snakes were all clustered together.
The best plan was to set them all on fire!
But they would only get one chance.
Once they were startled, they would definitely scatter, and trying to burn them all to death then would be much harder.
Bruce Rhodes wasn’t an idiot; he quickly understood Jayce’s plan. He swallowed hard. "Got it! I understand! I’ll do my best!"
"Don’t be so nervous. We have three Fire Ability Users, too. In a mont, the four of you will throw fireballs together!"
Hearing that he wouldn’t be alone, Bruce Rhodes instantly breathed a sigh of relief.
It wasn’t that he was afraid.
He was afraid he would miss. If sothing went wrong because of him, it would be too late for regrets.
