When Mingye heard the three words "No Hair Party," the corner of his eye twitched. ’What kind of ridiculous na is that,’ he grumbled to himself.
When Noah saw that he wasn’t agreeing, his sobs grew even louder. The high-pitched wails coming through the Light Computer gave Mingye a splitting headache.
He rubbed his temples. Unable to take the noise any longer, he said with resignation, "I get it. I’ll figure sothing out. Besides, my business in Snake Scale City is wrapped up, so it’s ti for to et up with Yaoyao."
The mont Noah heard that, his lips curved upward. His tears could be turned on and off like a switch, and with a cheerful grin, he said, "You’re a true friend. That’s more like it. I’ll be waiting for your good news."
「Back to the present」
Mingye looked at Lucia with disdain, his gaze ice-cold.
’Noah is making a mountain out of a molehill. What kind of trouble could this guy possibly stir up? He can’t even maintain his human form.’
However, when his gaze fell upon the myriad wounds covering Lucia’s body, and his nine limply hanging tails, he was startled.
’He’s the S-Class Furious Nine-tailed Red Fox that appeared in the Imperial City a few days ago?’
He clearly rembered his intelligence network reporting that the furious fox had been slain by His Majesty the Emperor with a single sword strike. He’d never expected him to still be alive.
Su Yaoyao nodded gently. "He’s severely injured right now," she said. "He needs to recuperate by my side. It’s the only way he might be able to regain his S-Class strength."
Seeing Su Yaoyao’s eyes filled with concern, Mingye instantly understood why Augustine hadn’t killed Lucia, and he slowly relaxed his clenched fist.
Su Yaoyao rushed to cradle Lucia in her arms, asking anxiously, "Lucia, are you okay?" At the sa ti, she transferred so of her spiritual power to soothe him.
"I’m okay, Yaoyao," ca Lucia’s voice. Su Yaoyao realized in astonishnt, "You can speak!"
Only then did Lucia realize that he had shouted "Don’t hurt Yaoyao!" earlier. "It must be from being by your side," he said. "Absorbing your spiritual power is helping recover quickly."
Mingye’s mood soured as he watched his wife and another man in such an intimate display.
Without another word, he reached out with a hand like an iron clamp and steadily lifted Lucia from Su Yaoyao’s arms.
Lucia’s body, already weak from his wounds, squird helplessly in the air. He let out a low whimper, as if protesting the sudden, rough treatnt.
Startled, Su Yaoyao instinctively reached out to stop him. "Mingye, be gentle!" she cried out. "Lucia hasn’t healed yet!" But Mingye paid her no mind, unceremoniously depositing Lucia on the floor by the bed.
Luckily, the floor was covered by a fluffy carpet, so Lucia wasn’t hurt.
"Since you’re not hurt, don’t disturb my reunion with Yaoyao." Mingye’s voice was unyieldingly domineering.
Lying on the floor beside the bed, Lucia lifted his watery eyes to gaze pitifully at Su Yaoyao. A few faint whimpers escaped his throat, as if he were protesting his innocence and unjust treatnt.
Su Yaoyao’s heart filled with worry and pity. Her gaze was locked on Lucia, who was lying by the bed. But before she could react, she felt an arm wrap tightly around her waist, and her entire body was pulled by a powerful and familiar force.
The next mont, she was pulled tightly into Mingye’s embrace, falling down onto the bed with him.
Mingye buried his head deep in the crook of her neck, as if he had found his personal sanctuary.
He gently inhaled her familiar, reassuring scent. His warm breath ghosted across her neck, carrying a trace of exhaustion and deep affection.
He whispered, "I rushed all the way here. I’m so tired... and I missed you so much." His voice, seeming to emanate from the softest corner of his heart, was filled with endless longing.
Sensing Mingye’s rare display of vulnerability and reliance on her, Su Yaoyao felt a sweet warmth spread through her heart. Her lips curved into a teasing smile as she asked softly, "Are you trying to be cute?" Her voice was as gentle as a spring breeze, softly caressing Mingye’s heart.
Mingye, a man who was usually so cold and stoic in public, now looked like a child who had been found out. A blush quickly crept up his cheeks.
He tilted his head slightly, bringing his lips close to Su Yaoyao’s ear. His voice, as soft as a mosquito’s hum yet perfectly clear, said, "I’m your husband. I need your attention too." His tone carried a hint of an almost imperceptible pout.
At his words, Su Yaoyao’s smile deepened, her eyes brimming with love.
She shifted her position slightly, raising her arms to hold Mingye in a firm yet gentle embrace. She slowly stroked his broad back, her movents soft and soothing.
"Is everything in Snake Scale City taken care of now?" Su Yaoyao asked softly, her gaze full of concern.
A faint smile touched Mingye’s lips. "Yes," he replied softly. "I’ve decided to stop selling weapons to other planets. It’s just that breaking the existing contracts cost a fortune. But it’s fine. I’ll just make it back from His Majesty later."
His smile seed relaxed, but he kept the hardships and obstacles he’d faced quietly locked away in his heart, not revealing a single thing to Su Yaoyao.
In reality, Mingye had faced nurous obstacles after making his decision.
His so-called "allies," accustod to reaping enormous profits from the arms trade, naturally refused to accept Mingye’s peaceful resolution.
Faced with their staunch opposition, Mingye had no choice but to use force.
These intense confrontations had consud a great deal of his ti and energy, and it was only with great difficulty that he was finally able to settle matters.
But for the sake of a stable future for the people of Snake Scale City, and more importantly, to be able to build a life with Su Yaoyao, he felt every sacrifice had been worth it.
Mingye gazed at Su Yaoyao with deep affection, slowly raising his hand to gently touch her face as if to confirm that she was real.
The woman he had longed for day and night was finally, truly here before his very eyes.
Su Yaoyao suddenly recalled how startled she had been just monts before. "Why did you sneak into the Imperial Palace in the middle of the night?" she chided. "I almost thought you were an intruder. You scared half to death." Her voice still held a trace of her earlier fright, mixed with concern for him.
A gentle smile touched Mingye’s lips. "I arrived at the Imperial City after nightfall. If I’d gone through the proper procedures to enter the palace, I would’ve had to wait until morning, go through all the tedious formalities, and get His Majesty’s permission. I simply couldn’t wait. Every second I waited, my longing for you beca another second of tornt."
In the quiet of the night, his low, magnetic voice sounded like the most heartfelt of confessions.
As he spoke, he gazed into Su Yaoyao’s eyes, his own filled with a love and adoration that seed to contain his entire world.
He murmured again, his voice brimming with infinite tenderness, "Yaoyao, I’ve missed you so much."
