After breakfast, Su Yaoyao and Mingye joyfully left the palace hand in hand.
Before they left, Su Yaoyao made a point of entrusting Lucia to the care of an attentive servant. She crouched down, gently stroking Lucia’s furry head, her eyes filled with concern as she stressed, "Be sure to take good care of the Nine-tailed Fox. Feed him his Nutrition Potions on ti, and keep an eye on his recovery."
Lucia gently nuzzled her palm and let out a low whimper, looking utterly heartbroken that she was leaving.
Seeing this, Mingye’s eyes narrowed slightly. "It’s not good to be so clingy with another’s wife," he said sourly.
Hearing this, Lucia imdiately looked up, his big, watery eyes gazing wretchedly at Su Yaoyao. "Yaoyao, he was an to ," he whined, his voice full of grievance. His piteous expression was enough to stir anyone’s sympathy.
Su Yaoyao gave a helpless smile, her eyes full of affection. She reached out and gently rubbed Lucia’s ears. "Be good now," she said. "I’ll be back to keep you company soon. You need to listen to the servants, recover properly, and wait for , okay?" With that, she gave Lucia’s head another gentle pat, then slowly rose and linked her arm with Mingye’s, ready to depart.
The pair took a hover car to the Imperial City’s marriage registration office.
Stepping into the registration office, they found the interior spacious and bright. A holographic projection of the galaxy flowed across the walls, and various exotic interstellar plants glowed with a dreamlike fluorescence, adding a touch of romance to the atmosphere.
The staff at the registration desk were focused on their duties when they happened to look up and see Su Yaoyao and Mingye. A flash of unconcealable surprise appeared in their eyes.
After all, the Holy Female’s status was incredibly prestigious. Here in the Imperial City, her every move was under scrutiny.
The staff mbers scrambled respectfully to their feet and said in unison, "Greetings, Holy Female!"
Su Yaoyao smiled and waved her hand. "There’s no need for formalities. My Beast Husband and I are here to register our marriage." Her voice was gentle and clear, carrying a natural affinity.
A surprised smile imdiately blood on the staff mbers’ faces as they said enthusiastically, "Congratulations to the Holy Female on gaining a new love!"
Hearing this, Mingye raised an eyebrow, the corners of his mouth turning up slightly.
A hint of pride shone in his eyes, as if he were announcing his intimate relationship with this woman to the entire world.
Su Yaoyao, however, blushed and lowered her head in embarrassnt. She unconsciously fiddled with the hem of her clothes, her shyness as captivating as a flower budding in spring.
The staff mber quickly returned to their professional duties. Looking at Mingye, they asked, "And your na, sir? I need to retrieve your information from the Star Network to bind you to your wife."
"Mingye," he replied simply, his voice deep and magnetic.
The staff mber typed "Mingye" into the Star Network’s search interface and began to search. A mont later, however, they frowned in confusion. "That’s strange. Why isn’t there any information about this Beast Husband on the Star Network?"
Mingye raised an eyebrow, watching the standard citizen search with amusent. He then suggested casually, "Perhaps I’m on the wanted list." His tone was teasing, as if he were discussing so trivial matter.
The staff mber’s heart skipped a beat. Dubiously, they navigated to the wanted list and searched for Mingye.
As the search results appeared, the staff mber’s eyes flew wide. "Y-You’re the Lord of Snake Scale City!" they blurted out, their voice filled with terror and disbelief.
Mingye’s brow furrowed. ’Did Augustine spread propaganda about being so ruthless killer?’ he wondered. ’Why are they so afraid of ?’ Still, he was already used to this sort of reaction.
In years past, his role as the Lord of Snake Scale City and his complex entanglents with the Empire had made him synonymous with danger in the eyes of many.
Seeing this, Su Yaoyao quickly reassured the staff mber in a soft voice, patiently explaining, "A peace treaty has been signed. Mingye is a citizen of the Empire now, he’s no longer a rebel. Besides, he only beca a rebel to protect males who were being treated unfairly..." Her voice was gentle yet firm, her eyes revealing her complete trust and understanding of him.
Mingye watched quietly as Su Yaoyao explained on his behalf, the corners of his mouth turning up unconsciously as a warmth spread through his chest. To have soone in this world who understood his past and supported his choices was, without a doubt, the most precious gift of all.
After hearing Su Yaoyao’s explanation, the staff mber looked at Mingye with newfound admiration. "It’s thanks to you that the Empire is changing its laws," they said sincerely. "The Male Protection Act was born because of you."
Mingye felt a little awkward at being thanked like this. He rarely received such sincere gratitude from anyone.
As far as he was concerned, everything he had done was simply for the sake of justice and fairness.
But now, hearing the staff mber’s words, he couldn’t help but feel pleased, and a barely perceptible blush crept up his cheeks.
"The Emperor hasn’t officially announced the Male Protection Act. You’re thanking too soon. Besides, you should really be thanking the Holy Female. If she hadn’t persuaded His Majesty, I’m afraid..." Mingye trailed off. He knew that without Su Yaoyao’s diation, a clash between Snake Scale City and the Empire would have resulted in catastrophic bloodshed—a consequence he could never have borne.
Mingye turned to look at Su Yaoyao, who was already gazing at him affectionately. Their eyes t, and in that shared glance was a warmth and thankfulness for having found one another.
In the vastness of the interstellar sea, their eting felt like an arrangent of fate. They had beco each other’s first support.
The rest of the registration process went smoothly.
The staff mber smiled and handed them two marriage certification Crystal Cards that pulsed with a soft glow. "Congratulations, you two. From this mont on, you are legal partners. This Crystal Card will record all of your information in the interstellar marriage system and is protected by the laws of the Interstellar Alliance."
The Crystal Cards resembled two brilliant stars, shimring with a captivating luster in the light, as if symbolizing their bright and beautiful future.
Su Yaoyao accepted the Crystal Cards carefully. On the translucent surface, virtual images of her and Mingye shimred side-by-side, and her heart overflowed with joy.
Mingye gently pulled her into an embrace, his movents both tender and firm.
He placed a loving kiss on her forehead, his voice trembling slightly as he said, "Yaoyao, I love you. I will use all my strength to protect you for the rest of my life." His voice seed to emanate from the softest part of his heart, filled with boundless love and a solemn promise.
Su Yaoyao nestled in his embrace and replied softly, "I love you too, Mingye. No matter how many unknown challenges the stars hold, I want to face them all by your side."
