Lin Xuan finally entered Xuankong Mountain. Upon entering, he found it was very quiet, without any of the dangers he had imagined, like Demon Beasts. There were buildings on the mountain—pavilions, towers, cascading springs, and waterfalls, like a Human Immortal Realm.
Lin Xuan was surprised. Could this really be the mansion left behind by so powerful expert?
"It should be," the big black dog said. "Judging by the layout, this must be soone’s cave abode. Kid, focus on Alchemy first. After you’re done, you’ll have ti to see if there are any Treasures around here."
Lin Xuan nodded and walked forward. Yu Shiqie had already told them about the layout inside Xuankong Mountain; the place where they were to practice Alchemy was a palace at the very peak.
Lin Xuan climbed all the way up the mountain path. Finally, he reached the summit and saw the grand hall. It was exceedingly mysterious, looking as if it might fly away at any mont.
At that mont, Yu Huatian also arrived at the peak. He was incredibly excited when he saw the grand hall and rushed inside without hesitation. But as soon as he entered, he let out a scream and quickly retreated, his face turning ugly.
The sudden cry startled Lin Xuan. What happened? Is there so kind of danger? He was instantly on high alert, as if facing a great enemy.
At that mont, the big black dog’s voice echoed in Lin Xuan’s ear, taunting disdainfully, "What an idiot. One glance is enough to tell that the grand hall possesses imnse Fla Power. That kid was too careless; he must have gotten injured rushing in like that."
So that’s what it was. Hearing this, Lin Xuan beca highly alert and cautiously walked forward, entering the grand hall.
The mont he stepped inside, a scorching aura swept toward him from all directions, threatening to devour him whole. Lin Xuan was taken aback. How can the Fla Power be this terrifying right at the entrance?
Not daring to be the least bit careless, he imdiately circulated his Dragon Power to defend himself. His Physique emitted a faint glow, and a faint Dragon Shadow enveloped him, resisting the surrounding Fla Power. Lin Xuan then sat down cross-legged, took out his Alchemy Furnace, and prepared to begin Alchemy, because he could not advance any further.
Just then, Yu Huatian also walked in. His Cloud Brocade Robe was glowing, and layers of mist swirled around him, forming a defense that blocked the surrounding flas. The robe was clearly an extraordinary Treasure.
He took five steps into the hall before stopping, then glanced proudly at Lin Xuan, who had only managed three. With a cold snort, Yu Huatian also took out an Alchemy Furnace and prepared to begin. Lin Xuan ignored him, deciding to focus on his own Alchemy.
He took out the box, cast the Fire Control Technique, and guided the surrounding flas into his Alchemy Furnace. Soon, a cluster of blue flas appeared, flickering with a brilliant light and radiating a scorching, destructive aura.
Feeling this power, Lin Xuan couldn’t help but draw a sharp breath. He heard Yu Huatian exclaim from ahead, "Nine Heavens Spirit Fire!"
Lin Xuan looked up and saw a similar blue fla in the other man’s Alchemy Furnace. Is this the Spiritual Fire? And it’s a Celestial Fire? No wonder its power was so tyrannical.
Lin Xuan didn’t know how difficult the Celestial Fire was to control, so he didn’t start with the dicinal Materials Yu Shiqie had given him. Instead, he took out a few of his own Spirit dicines from his Storage Ring, tossed them into the Alchemy Furnace, and began to practice extracting the dicinal fluid.
His first attempt failed. His second and third attempts failed as well. It wasn’t until his sixth try that Lin Xuan finally succeeded. After that, he succeeded several tis in a row.
This should be enough. Lin Xuan had now adapted to the power of the Nine Heavens Spirit Fire. Next, he began to extract the real dicinal Materials.
He opened the box Yu Shiqie had given him, revealing three dicinal Materials inside. These three were extrely peculiar, shimring with a tallic luster. Lin Xuan took one out and tapped it, producing a clanging sound as if he were striking tal.
What is this? Lin Xuan was stunned.
"Golden Spirit Wood, Iron Tree Flower, and Bronze Fruit. They’re all tal-attribute Spirit dicines!" the big black dog exclaid repeatedly. "These are all incredibly rare. I wonder what kind of strange Elixir the Yu Family is trying to refine."
Lin Xuan was also surprised. tal-attribute Spirit dicines... No wonder they made a clanging sound.
The big black dog reminded him, "Kid, refine them one by one this ti. tal-attribute Spirit dicines are very difficult to refine—ten tis harder than ordinary ones.
"Plus, this Nine Heavens Spirit Fire is difficult to control, so the difficulty for you will be more than ten tis greater than it would be outside."
"Understood." Lin Xuan nodded. He first threw the Golden Spirit Wood into the Alchemy Furnace and began to refine it with the Nine Heavens Spirit Fire.
On the other side, Yu Huatian also began. Both of them were now practicing Alchemy.
The entire grand hall fell silent, the only sounds being the rolling of flas and the crackling of the Spirit dicines.
Ti passed slowly. In the blink of an eye, half a day was gone. Lin Xuan’s face had grown pale, and beads of sweat covered Yu Huatian’s forehead. Clearly, concentrating for so long while maintaining precise control over the flas was consuming a great deal of their energy.
However, their progress was smooth. Yu Huatian successfully extracted the dicinal fluid from the Golden Spirit Wood. A walnut-sized drop of golden liquid floated in the air, emitting a faint golden glow.
"Success!" Yu Huatian laughed heartily. He then began to rest and recover his energy before proceeding to the second Spirit dicine.
Not long after Yu Huatian began to rest, Lin Xuan also let out a sigh of relief. He too had successfully extracted the dicinal fluid from the Golden Spirit Wood. He took out a White Jade Bottle, placed the golden fluid inside, and then closed his eyes to rest. Once he had recovered, he continued the process.
Another day passed in the blink of an eye. Both Yu Huatian and Lin Xuan had now successfully extracted two of the Spirit dicines.
However, when they began to extract the third Spirit dicine, the Bronze Fruit, the situation changed. This ti, it was Lin Xuan who finished first. Not only was Yu Huatian slower, but his extraction failed entirely.
The Bronze Fruit instantly turned to ash and vanished within the flas. Yu Huatian’s expression changed drastically. Damn it, how could this happen?
He never expected to fail. It was infuriating. He growled in anger. He beca even more frantic when he saw that Lin Xuan had succeeded. He had never taken Lin Xuan seriously, so to see him succeed now felt like a vicious slap across the face.
Yu Huatian gritted his teeth and put away his Alchemy Furnace. Failure is failure. It’s just a bit of humiliation, nothing more.
However, it was ti to do what he had really co for. His true goal here was to subdue the Nine Heavens Spirit Fire. He stared at the flas he had been using, and in the next mont, his hands ford a seal as he reached out to grab the Nine Heavens Spirit Fire.
To subdue a Spiritual Fire, one must first devour it.
"Hey, that guy is trying to devour the Spiritual Fire!" the big black dog exclaid.
Lin Xuan looked up at this and frowned. He also wanted to subdue the Nine Heavens Spirit Fire; he hadn’t expected the other man to have the sa plan. I’ll watch and see if he can succeed first.
