Under the watchful gaze of the crowd, Lin Xuan began his alchemy.
He took out twenty-four types of spirit dicine and tossed them all into the alchemy furnace. He utilized an ancient alchemy technique to summon the Heaven-Burning Fire, using the Nine Heavens Mystic Fire to envelop all twenty-four spirit dicines.
The crowd watched with bated breath, but Lin Xuan remained calm and collected, performing with practiced ease. The flas churned constantly, turning the twenty-four spirit dicines into dicinal liquid one after another, all of which floated within the alchemy furnace.
When the surrounding crowd saw this, they all gasped in astonishnt. It was obvious they could tell that Lin Xuan had successfully completed the extraction. Even the master alchemists were astonished. To successfully extract twenty-four spirit dicines at once... it’s truly incredible. This kid is truly heaven-defying!
It was common knowledge that the difficulty of refining a Tier Three Elixir lay in its complexity. Tier One and Tier Two Elixirs generally required fewer than ten dicinal materials; even the most complex Tier Two Elixir wouldn’t exceed fifteen types of spirit dicine. But Tier Three Elixirs were different. They required over twenty types of spirit dicine, with the most complex ones needing as many as thirty. This drastically increased the difficulty of the alchemy process. The Clear Spirit Pill that Lin Xuan was attempting to refine was particularly challenging, as it required twenty-four different spirit dicines and was no easy task.
"He has succeeded in the extraction phase, now cos the fusion," Mu Shan observed. "He must rge these dicinal liquids perfectly to form an elixir."
This step was equally crucial. The other master alchemists nodded, focusing their attention back on Lin Xuan. The palms of the Qingyun Tower Master were sweating. As for the other alchemy prodigies, they could only stare wide-eyed, holding their breath.
Lin Xuan took a deep breath as his fingers danced. He slowly gathered the twenty-four dicinal liquids inside the alchemy furnace. Once gathered, the liquids began to rge.
GURGLE... GURGLE...
The coalescing liquid grew to about the size of a walnut, bubbling continuously. Lin Xuan carefully controlled the Anomalous Fire, enshrouding the liquid to ensure a perfect fusion. This process took another half an hour. No one spoke during this ti, and the entire scene was eerily quiet.
Suddenly, Mu Shan, seated in the VIP section, raised an eyebrow. "The elixir is about to take form," he said.
Is it because of the Anomalous Fire? Can it refine a Tier Three Elixir this quickly? The other master alchemists were filled with surprise upon hearing Mu Shan’s comnt, and they looked on more intently.
Inside the alchemy furnace, the twenty-four dicinal liquids had already rged, forming the embryonic shape of an elixir. It looked as though it was about to beco a true elixir. But just then, with a sharp POP, the embryonic elixir suddenly cracked apart and disintegrated into ash within the Anomalous Fire.
Everyone was stunned. After a long mont, Mu Shan let out a sigh, and the other master alchemists also shook their heads. A failure. A Tier Three Elixir was not so easily refined. The rest of the crowd burst into an uproar. He failed? Even with an Anomalous Fire, he still failed in the end?
Song Xingyun burst into excited laughter. "Hahaha! Lin Xuan, you’re too arrogant! So what if you have an Anomalous Fire? It’s impossible for you to refine a Tier Three Elixir! In the end, you’re still no match for . You can’t even beat with an Anomalous Fire—you really are useless!"
In the distance, Yu Huatian also grew excited. "Lin Xuan, I will defeat you! I will make sure this event is etched into the annals of history! I want all future Alchemy Masters, whenever they hear of the Anomalous Fire, to be reminded of you, the failure!"
"You two are thinking too much," Lin Xuan replied, exceptionally calm. "Failing in alchemy is perfectly normal, and I still have plenty of ti." He had been allotted half a day, and only an hour had passed, leaving him with many more chances. His own success rate for refining Tier Three Elixirs was only about fifty percent anyway, so a failure was to be expected.
With that thought, Lin Xuan once again took out twenty-four stalks of spirit dicine and began the process anew.
Yu Huatian snorted coldly. "It’s useless. No matter how many tis you try, you won’t succeed."
Song Xingyun asked, "If this kid keeps at it, his fla could affect ours. What if I can’t perform my own alchemy?"
Mu Shan replied, "There is no need to worry. Lin Xuan has half a day for his attempts, and you all have half a day for yours as well. You can perform your alchemy at different tis."
A smile curled onto Song Xingyun’s lips. That’s good. Once Lin Xuan fails for good, I can finally show my true prowess.
The other alchemy prodigies also sighed in relief; as long as they had a chance to perform their alchemy separately, that was all that mattered. They then settled in to watch Lin Xuan’s attempt, most of them curious to see if he could succeed. A few, however, were praying for his failure. Zhao Feiyan and Qin Xingchen, for instance, did not want him to succeed.
Half an hour later, Lin Xuan once again extracted twenty-four drops of dicinal liquid and proceeded to rge them again.
Tension filled the air as everyone’s hearts tightened. The error last ti had occurred during the fusion stage. Would Lin Xuan succeed this ti?
Song Xingyun sneered. "He can’t possibly succeed. He’s too young to be a Tier Three Alchemy Master."
The other master alchemists also shook their heads, not feeling optimistic about Lin Xuan’s chances. Although Lin Xuan possessed an Anomalous Fire, it didn’t guarantee he could refine a Tier Three Elixir. After all, he was only sixteen years old.
Inside the alchemy furnace, the embryonic elixir gradually condensed, and a rich fragrance began to perate the air.
"He’s succeeding!" Mu Shan exclaid.
The other master alchemists were in an uproar. The Qingyun Tower Master shot to his feet, his fists clenched and his face flushed with excitent.
BOOM! The lid of the alchemy furnace flew open, and an elixir shot out, landing in Lin Xuan’s hand.
A smile touched Lin Xuan’s lips. "I’ve done it. An Appraiser can co and verify it now."
Upon hearing this, everyone grew tense. Song Xingyun clenched his fists, and even Yu Huatian was visibly anxious. He might have refined an elixir, but is it really Tier Three? They couldn’t believe it.
"I will appraise it." Mu Shan once again descended from the VIP section, with the other master alchemists following close behind. They all wanted to see what grade of elixir Lin Xuan had actually managed to refine. Is it really Tier Three?
They gathered in front of Lin Xuan. "Young man, please give the elixir," Mu Shan said.
Lin Xuan handed him the elixir. It was a grape-sized elixir, glowing with a cerulean light and covered in faint, intricate patterns. From a distance, it truly resembled a green grape.
After Mu Shan received it, he inspected it closely. Soon, he began to laugh heartily. "Success! It’s a Tier Three Clear Spirit Pill! Young man, you are incredible! I guarantee that in less than twenty years, you will be a new Pill King! You might even have the chance to surpass the rank of Pill King and challenge the legendary Pill Emperor Realm!"
This was extrely high praise from Mu Shan.
Everyone was stunned. He succeeded! Lin Xuan had really refined a Tier Three Elixir! This was unbelievable! Truly heaven-defying!
At this mont, the master alchemists were in shock. The audience went wild! The other alchemy prodigies were left completely dumbfounded. Zhao Feiyan and Qin Xingchen were utterly stupefied. Yu Huatian’s face twisted with jealousy. Song Xingyun felt a wave of dizziness.
"Damn it! Don’t get so arrogant!" Song Xingyun roared. "I can refine a Tier Three Elixir too! This battle isn’t over yet!"
