When the storm of energy dissipated, the scene on the arena was revealed. The crowd quickly widened their eyes and stared, only to be frozen in a collective daze.
There on the arena stood Ye Qingwu, longsword in hand, her posture as poised as a Sword God. Opposite her, Leng Rushuang was kneeling on the ground, a deep sword gash marring her body, nearly splitting her in two. Blood dripped from the wound, staining the arena floor red.
"Oh my god, she’s injured!"
"Leng Rushuang is actually injured!"
Exclamations of shock erupted from the crowd. This was completely different from what they had predicted. In their minds, Leng Rushuang should have been the clear victor. After all, she was at the peak of the nine-star realm, while Ye Qingwu was only a mid-nine-star Martial General. Yet, the result was the complete opposite. Everyone was utterly stunned.
"How is this possible? This is impossible!"
"This has to be fake!" the mbers of the Star Pavilion roared, unable to accept the reality before them.
Shangguan Hao’s eyes were practically bulging out of their sockets, and Chu Yue’s brow was furrowed in a tight knot.
What is going on? Why is the aura emanating from Ye Qingwu so sharp? And why does it feel so familiar? What in the world has she been cultivating? How did her strength beco so formidable?
The elders of the Star Pavilion were equally stunned. How could this have happened? Leng Rushuang had actually lost! They were on the verge of a breakdown, and their Pavilion Master’s face had turned black with rage. It was one thing for Wangyue Pavilion to have produced a monster like Lin Xuan, but to have Ye Qingwu as well... Was Wangyue Pavilion trying to defy the heavens? The Star Pavilion Master was consud by jealousy, depression, and madness.
anwhile, the mbers of Wangyue Pavilion were also flabbergasted.
"She won! Ye Qingwu actually won?"
The elders felt as if they were dreaming. It was simply unbelievable. Even the Wangyue Pavilion Master was a bit dazed. She hadn’t been optimistic about Ye Qingwu’s chances either, as the gap in their cultivation was substantial. But against all odds, Ye Qingwu had turned the tables and erged victorious. The shock was imnse. When did Ye Qingwu beco so powerful?
On the arena, Ye Qingwu herself was in a state of mild shock. I actually defeated her! A mont ago, I was only thinking of delivering a desperate, final strike. I’d already given up hope of winning. But I actually managed to injure her... It’s incredible. It seems the Dragon Claw Stone Slab’s enhancent was far greater than I imagined.
"Admit defeat," Ye Qingwu said quickly, her gaze fixed on Leng Rushuang. "You are not my opponent."
Admit defeat? What a joke! Leng Rushuang couldn’t accept it. She raised her head, her beautiful face contorted into a ferocious snarl. To be injured by her? Unacceptable! I will not admit defeat! I cannot lose!
She forced herself to her feet, her hands rapidly forming a series of intricate seals. She was prepared to counterattack, no matter the cost.
"Ye Qingwu, I don’t know how you beca so strong, but defeating won’t be that easy," she seethed. "I have so trump cards that I was saving to challenge the first-tier geniuses. I never expected I’d have to use one on you. However, you can be proud to fall to this technique."
As she spoke, the wound on her body was instantly sealed by a layer of frost, staunching the flow of blood. A terrifyingly cold aura erupted from her, coalescing behind her into a pair of magnificent ice wings. She seed to transform into an Ice Queen, regal and aloof. With her at its epicenter, a wave of frost swept outwards, encasing the entire arena in ice. The spectators in the surrounding stands scrambled back in fear.
"What a terrifying aura!"
"It’s unbelievable! Leng Rushuang still has the strength to counterattack!"
The crowd exclaid again and again. The mbers of the Star Pavilion, who had been in despair, were now stunned into a different kind of silence.
"Is she going to use Ice Rain?" one of the elders exclaid.
"That’s too reckless! With her current strength, she can’t possibly use Ice Rain!" another argued.
"Unless she’s willing to go all out and burn her Spiritual Power. But if she does that, even if she wins, the cost will be imnse. She’ll be left incredibly weak and could even drop in cultivation level."
Is Ye Qingwu truly that powerful? Does Leng Rushuang have no chance of winning without resorting to Ice Rain? The people of the Star Pavilion were dumbfounded.
On the stage, Leng Rushuang roared, "Ice Rain!"
As she scread, the wings on her back beat furiously. The air churned as winds surged, and a torrent of icy rain began to fall from the sky, blanketing the entire arena.
CRACKLE! CRACKLE!
The temperature of the arena plumted, and everything began to freeze solid, as if the stage itself was transforming into a world of ice and snow.
Freeze! Beco an ice sculpture in my Ice Rain! Leng Rushuang’s voice was tinged with madness. Her face was deathly pale; it was obvious that unleashing this move was taking a massive toll on her. But in her desperate bid for victory, she had thrown all caution to the wind.
"Not good!" The faces of the Wangyue Pavilion mbers turned pale.
"Be careful!" their Pavilion Master cried out.
The technique was horrifying. It covered the entire arena, leaving no room to dodge; it could only be faced head-on. But once frozen, a cultivator’s Spirit Vein would be damaged. In the worst-case scenario, it could be shattered, turning them into a cripple. They couldn’t help but feel a surge of worry for Ye Qingwu.
What should we do? Should we make Ye Qingwu admit defeat? The elders were beside themselves with anxiety. The Wangyue Pavilion Master’s expression was grave as she hesitated. The price of this defeat was far too high—Ye Qingwu could be crippled for life.
"Pavilion Master, make a decision, quickly!" the elders urged, their voices strained with panic.
The Wangyue Pavilion Master took a deep breath and stood up, preparing to have Ye Qingwu forfeit. She couldn’t let her take such a risk.
Just then, Lin Xuan spoke up. "Pavilion Master, don’t worry. Senior Sister Ye will definitely not lose."
"Lin Xuan, this is no ti for boasting! There’s no way Ye Qingwu can block this move!" the elders snapped, frantic with worry that Lin Xuan was still spouting nonsense at a ti like this.
BOOM!
A world-shaking sword cry suddenly erupted from the arena. The elders whipped their heads back toward the stage and stood there, utterly dumbfounded. The Wangyue Pavilion Master was also frozen in astonishnt.
And they weren’t the only ones. Everyone from the Tianyang Pavilion and the Purple Mist Pavilion was stunned. The mbers of the other families and sects were equally aghast. The people from the Star Pavilion were completely baffled.
"How can this be?"
"How can she possess this kind of power?"
"This woman is terrifying!"
"Is she really just at the mid-nine-star level?"
"This Sword Qi... even in our Celestial Sword Sect, it would be considered top-tier, wouldn’t it?" the swordsn of the Celestial Sword Sect exclaid among themselves.
Jian Wushuang’s brow furrowed, his expression turning solemn. The other first-tier geniuses also wore looks of shock. They could feel a tangible threat from that single sword intent. It was inconceivable.
Chu Yue’s expression changed dramatically, her eyes locked on the figure on the arena.
But that’s impossible. The Dragon Claw Stone Slab is incredibly precious; she was just incredibly lucky to have gotten one piece. The royal family itself doesn’t possess a Dragon Claw Stone Slab, so how could Ye Qingwu have one? But then what is this familiar aura? Damn it! What is the secret behind Ye Qingwu’s sword?
At this mont, Ye Qingwu had not surrendered, nor had she tried to dodge. She gripped her longsword tightly, pointing it forward as a terrifyingly sharp aura, one that felt like it could slice through anything, radiated from her body, shocking all who felt it.
On the stage, Leng Rushuang’s body began to tremble. Her opponent’s sword intent felt as if it could cleave her very soul. A flash of fear appeared in her eyes, but it was quickly consud by sha-fueled rage. She had already pushed herself to her absolute limit. She could not, would not, lose.
"Freeze!" she shrieked, and the icy rain cascaded down from the sky, threatening to entomb everything.
At the exact sa instant, the sword in Ye Qingwu’s hand moved.
"One Sword Stirs Wind and Thunder!"
