Now reading: Chapter 2 2: Abilities and Exploration from [Tensura] I Was a Doctor, But Reincarnated as a Dragon?, a Action novel by UltraMagnus2.

It did not take long for him to accept reality. He quickly ca to terms with his situation and decided to gather as much information as possible to survive in this other world.

"What kind of place is this world, exactly?"

"Answer. In a word, it is a fantasy world. Various demi-humans and monsters, such as dwarves and elves, live here. Reincarnators like yourself, as well as otherworlders, are occasionally summoned to this world by a rare chance."

So it really is a world like a fantasy novel, he thought. "What about skills?"

"Answer. Skills are occasionally acquired when the world recognizes a certain form of growth. Their ranks are categorized as: (Common) Skill < Extra Skill < Unique Skill < Ultimate Skill. Skills can be described as the unique 'special phenona' of this world."

"Please explain each rank in more detail."

"Answer. Common skills are often categorized as resistances. Extra Skills are, literally, skills possessing special powers, and their abilities vary widely. Unique Skills are possessed only by extrely rare individuals; all reincarnators are granted a skill of this rank. A Unique Skill is powerful enough to overturn a gap in ability that would otherwise be impossible to bridge. Ultimate Skills are the highest rank; those who possess one ignore the effects of all skills below that rank, including Unique Skills. Additionally, there is a separate concept called arts. Arts are abilities acquired after birth through long effort and rigorous training. Unlike monsters, humans lack a natural magicule foundation, so they often hone arts to gain great power. Consequently, it is considered a field in which humans particularly excel."

After hearing the Observer's explanations and advice, he felt as though this world functioned like a ga.

Once one reached a certain level or qualification, the Voice of the World granted stronger powers, while Extra Skills and arts seed to function like a set of character stats.

"Hmm... aside from those details, living here doesn't seem all that different from living back there."

Using his reflection on the water's surface as a mirror, he began practicing how to transform into a human form.

He had been told that most of the draconic lineage could shift into human shape, but it was not as easy as he had imagined.

He encountered various issues—the transformation wouldn't fully take hold, or parts of his body remained unchanged—but compared to the struggle of mastering dical terminology and surgical thods in his past life, this was far easier.

Finally, after a full week of practice, he succeeded in a perfect transformation.

He had sharp eyes, green irises, and white hair the color of his skin with streaks of red. Above all, his current appearance closely resembled his younger self.

"So the human form is based on how I looked when I was alive."

"Recomndation. It is recomnded that you control the magicules radiating from your body."

"Magicules?"

Magicules were an energy substance capable of interfering with the laws of this world, and for monsters, they served as the very source of life.

In the process of suppressing these magicules, he acquired the skill [Notice]. When he observed himself, he could see a chaotic aura—a mixture of dark red and pale white—spilling from his body. It seed that monsters instinctively sensed this presence and fled in terror.

After stabilizing his magicules, he calmly studied his reflection in the sea and began his journey across the ocean.

He walked atop the vast, endless expanse of the sea, much like the Pacific, studying the knowledge of this world provided by the Observer as he traveled.

In this world, Demon Lords and Heroes existed. However, he learned that one must not carelessly claim the title of 'Hero,' as doing so could twist the laws of causality.

He wasn't entirely sure why the title was so special, but he understood that he must not claim it for himself.

Next, he learned about monsters. If one excluded dwarves and elves—who looked similar to humans and coexisted with them—as well as spirits and fairies, whose existence was fundantally different, everything else was classified as a monster. The criteria for being a monster seed to depend on whether the creature was bipedal or physically similar to a human. Intelligent monsters were referred to as "demons."

According to the Observer, when a monster died, its body would eventually return to magicules and vanish.

The most significant trait of monsters was [Naming]. For a monster to receive a na ant that it beca a 'nad monster'—an existence of a higher grade than its original species. Depending on the rank of the being who bestowed the na, the monster might simply beco slightly stronger, or it could break through the limits of its species and evolve entirely.

However, naming was a dangerous act. Bestowing a na consud a massive amount of magicules; the stronger the target, the more the required amount increased exponentially. A mistake could lead to the nar's death or leave them drastically weakened. Furthermore, there was a possibility that the magicules spent in the process could never be recovered.

Put simply, it was like evolving a common mob into a nad boss monster.

Then there were the demon people.

This was a collective term for those born from magicules, mutant monsters, or those who had evolved from animals or magical beasts. They were characterized by their intelligence and reproductive capabilities. Among them were mutant beings of the upper demon class, making them the most diverse and chaotic group of all.

Finally, there were races such as the giants and vampires. These were high-ranking demons with imnse lifespans and reproductive abilities, though they rarely produced offspring. Because they possessed overwhelming magicules and indestructible bodies, they felt no need to leave descendants—unless their numbers had been decimated by war or so other catastrophic event.

Lastly, he examined his own abilities.

He possessed a natural resistance to electricity and could manipulate it at will. He could shroud his limbs in lightning to enhance his physical strength or summon a bolt from the sky to strike his enemies. Since he could freely adjust the intensity of the electricity, he could use a blinding flash to obscure an opponent's vision or deploy high-voltage bolts to paralyze them.

Even if an opponent managed to close the distance, his own lightning resistance ant he could simply let the electricity surge through both of them without fear.

"Since I control lightning... maybe 'Thunder Dragon' fits?"

Once, as a test, he summoned a bolt of lightning into the middle of the ocean. A massive thunderclap shook the world, and with a colossal spray of water, monsters and fish within a radius of several thousand ters were blasted to the surface.

Startled by his own raw power, he hurriedly left the area.

A week had passed since he began crossing the sea, and he had yet to see a single soul. During this ti, his Extra Skill [Thunderbolt Manipulation] evolved into the Unique Skill [Twin Thunder Heaven], and he acquired a new Extra Skill, [Black Heaven].

"Answer. The effects of the Unique Skill [Twin Thunder Heaven] are as follows..."

Thunder Heaven Fla: Generates red lightning that incinerates all things.

Thunder Heaven Ice: Generates pale lightning that freezes everything it touches.

Additionally, he could shape black lightning into any form he desired. Anything touched by this black lightning was rendered immobile by excruciating pain and shock. It was an ideal tool for ambushes, allowing him to blind enemies or strike them from their blind spots.

Deciding that walking across the ocean was becoming a waste of ti, he activated a wide-range terrain detection.

Imdiately, the continent appeared before him like a map viewed from a satellite. After spotting a location that looked like a castle, he converted his body into lightning and surged toward it.

He arrived inside the walls of a dilapidated castle. It looked ancient and weathered by ti.

"Where is this?"

"Notice. This is a castle that was destroyed long ago during a war."
