Rimuru's side
After safely concluding the alliance with Dwargon and returning to his own nation, Rimuru went back to his usual daily life. Even so, there was a corner of his heart that strongly wanted to visit a human country.
It had been about two years since he was reincarnated as a sli, but Rimuru had never once visited a human nation. Aside from going to Dwargon to recruit dwarves and later to formalize the alliance, he had never set foot in human lands.
That was why he wanted to go at least once. It wasn't as if he lacked that desire.
"So, that's why I'm going to visit a human country!"
"What are you saying all of a sudden, Rimuru?"
At Rimuru's sudden declaration over a al that he was going to visit a human city, the companions dining with him all stared at him in shock. Knowing exactly how they would react, Rimuru calmly continued eating as he explained himself.
"We're going to build friendly relations with humans from now on, so I think we need to learn how they live. That's why I'm planning to disguise myself as a human and secretly slip into a human nation."
"I see. But Rimuru, traveling alone is..."
"That's right. If anything happens to you, the Great Alliance of Jura could collapse from its very foundations."
No one openly objected to Rimuru's decision, but most of them were worried about his safety instead. Rimuru was the leader of the Great Alliance of Jura, and if sothing happened to him, there was a high chance the Great Forest of Jura, which had only just been united, would begin to fall apart from within. Rimuru understood that perfectly well himself, so he had already prepared an answer.
"I know. Of course, I won't be going alone. Ranga will co with since he can hide in my shadow, and one of Souei's clones will accompany us for communication. And while I'm away in the human lands, Ver said he'd send his subordinates to help with the country's defense."
The destination was the Kingdom of Ingrasia, where one of Ver's [parallel existence] bodies ran a clinic.
"I understand. But then won't you need a guide?"
To reach Ingrasia, they would have to pass through the Blue Moon Kingdom, so they needed at least one trustworthy human guide. At Rigurd's question, Rimuru nodded.
"Don't worry about that. Gobuta already went to call Kaval and his party."
When they heard that the group with the deepest ties to Rimuru, and who knew his true identity, would be going along, everyone seed relieved.
Of course, there were still a few slightly worrying things about them...
And so, disguised in human form and wearing a mask, Rimuru set out on the road to the Blue Moon Kingdom together with Kaval's party.
The trip wasn't just because he wanted to see a human country. Another goal was to secure a sales route for healing potions, one of Tempest's specialties. The product they intended to sell was a Hyper Potion made by diluting Rimuru's Full Elixir to one-twentieth strength. It could instantly heal even severe injuries, and the bottle had a little drawing of Rimuru's face on it.
The journey with Kaval's group was... not exactly smooth. They got lost on the way, accidentally stirred up a monster nest and got chased for quite a while by enraged monsters, and ran into all sorts of trouble. Still, the trip itself went very well.
Only after a full week had passed did they finally reach the edge of the forest, and the small nation spread out before Rimuru's eyes was their first destination: the Blue Moon Kingdom.
After arriving in the Blue Moon Kingdom, the group shared a simple al at a nearby inn and talked things over. Eren advised Rimuru that if he was planning to go on to Ingrasia, it would be best to get a letter of introduction from Hughes.
Eren had heard that the head of the guild headquarters in Ingrasia was one of Shizu's disciples.
'One of Shizu's students... Maybe I should et him after all...'
Rimuru had previously heard from Ver about Shizu's only two disciples. A man nad Yuuki was the Grand Master of the Free Guild, and a woman nad Hinata was the captain of the Crusaders.
But Ver had barely spoken about either of them. If his reason for not talking much about Hinata was that she led the Crusaders, who were hostile to monsters, then his reason for saying nothing about Yuuki was stranger.
'That guy... you can never tell what's going on inside his head.'
That was the cryptic answer Ver had given. But Rimuru didn't really understand what he ant, so he decided to follow Eren's advice: get a letter of introduction from Hughes, register as an adventurer for identification, and then continue on his way.
After answering the simple questionnaire handed to him by the receptionist, Rimuru imdiately moved on to the practical exam. The contents of the test were very simple. He just had to defeat the monsters the examiner summoned.
And so the test began, and Rimuru cut down a Hound Dog and a Dark Goblin in a single stroke. By nature, he was timid and not especially fond of fighting, but when it mattered, he could gather his courage and fight. And with [Great Sage] supporting him with everything it had, Rimuru's skills were steadily improving day by day.
Seeing that, the examiner, Zegis, summoned a lesser demon as the final opponent for the B-rank test.
It was Rimuru's first ti seeing a demon, and he stared at it with equal parts surprise and admiration. The mont [Great Sage] analyzed Zegis's magic, it imdiately acquired demon summoning.
And so the battle began. Most adventurers believed they could never defeat demons, since physical attacks did not work on those spiritual life-forms. But contrary to everyone's expectations, Rimuru cleanly cut the demon down in full view of the crowd. Of course, [Great Sage] had activated Auto Battle Mode, but a win was still a win.
"So does that an I passed B-rank?"
When Rimuru asked the examiner, the adventurers who had watched the fight erupted into cheers.
"Wooooah!"
"Amazing!"
"Please join our party!"
"No, ours!"
As the adventurers crowded around Rimuru, [Great Sage] felt so strange, indescribable emotion, while Rimuru himself had no idea what to do. Fortunately, Hughes showed up at just the right mont, and the situation was hurriedly brought under control.
When Hughes shouted, Rimuru jumped in surprise, and the adventurers looked at him as if they had just seen sothing unexpected.
In the process, the king of Blumund unintentionally ended up proposing a top-secret eting. Thinking it was a good opportunity, Rimuru accepted. Three days later, he agreed to continue building ties with Blumund together with a baron nad Belyad, a friend of Hughes. That process was far from smooth as well, but in return he managed to demonstrate a little of the performance of Tempest's Full Elixir and, at the sa ti, firmly secure a trade deal for Hyper Potions.
As for Full Elixir itself, it was an item capable of regenerating even lost body parts, so it was the kind of thing that could command any price.
After finishing everything he needed to do in Blumund, he finally set out for the great nation at the center of the Western Nations: Ingrasia.

"...What? Rimuru is on the way here right now?"
[Yeah. So take good care of things, Number Two.]
"...Hey... Original. Hey, you bastard!"
Ver Number Two fud at the coldness of his original self, who said only what he needed to say and imdiately cut the connection. Still, he barely managed to calm himself and turned back to his patients.
"...What seems to be the problem?"
"I threw out my back..."
At the old man's words, Ver laid him down on a bed and examined his back. Then he pressed his palms together and used magic to heal the strained lower back.
It might have seed excessive to use magic for sothing like this, but there were too many people waiting for him to waste ti worrying about that.
"What brings you here?"
"I was attacked by a monster..."
"My child has a terrible fever!"
"I got hurt fighting with a friend..."
'More importantly... why is he suddenly coming to Ingrasia? Is this just sightseeing?'
Even while wondering that, Ver continued treating patient after patient.
The Council of the West was a council ford by the human nations scattered around the Great Forest of Jura. At first, it had been established as a mutual aid organization to oppose monsters, but now it had grown into an absolute authority that even handled disputes between nations. By Earth's standards, it was sothing like the UN.
And the nation at the center of it all was Ingrasia.
"Ingrasia also borders the sphere of influence of the Western Holy Church. I just hope his identity doesn't get exposed by accident..."
Worried, Ver spent the day treating patients as usual.
*
"Whoa! So that's the Kingdom of Ingrasia?"
As befitted the central nation of an organization with enough power to diate disputes between countries, its scale and level of developnt were impressive even from a distance. Even Rimuru, who had once grown up in a modern city, couldn't help exclaiming in admiration.
After passing through the checkpoint with his adventurer ID without any trouble, Rimuru found the city even more developed than he had expected. He was so busy looking this way and that, he seed like a child visiting an amusent park for the first ti.
"The buildings are tall! And is that glass?! This feels just like Lord of the Rings!"
Seeing Rimuru act as excited as a little kid despite his outward appearance, the three of them watched him with warm smiles.
By then, eting the Grand Master had already been pushed to the back of Rimuru's mind, and he ran all over the country with Kaval's party instead.
"The public order looks good, and security seems solid too... though, how should I put it? The guards' uniforms are all standardized."
"Oh, those are soldiers affiliated with the Western Holy Church," Eren explained.
"The Western Holy Church?"
"It's the organization of the Luminism faith, which worships the one true god, Luminas."
"Huh..."
Co to think of it, Ver had said it was best not to get involved with the people from the Western Holy Church. Why was that?
Just as Rimuru was wondering that, Kaval seed to rember sothing and gave him a warning.
"You should be careful around the church. The Western Holy Church's doctrine is the extermination of monsters, so if your true identity is exposed, you might beco a target for subjugation. Well, soone like you wouldn't go down easily, but they're specialists in hunting monsters."
So that was the reason.
In any case, after spending the whole day looking around the country, the group stayed one night at an inn. They decided to visit Ver in Ingrasia, along with the Free Guild, the next day.
