Now reading: Chapter 220 26 - The Bloodsucking Cat—Luna from Thanks for the invitation! I am in Honkai, still connected, a Adventure novel by Aleph0.

From the mont she was born, her life was devoid of aning.

She was a puppet, nothing more, created for the sole purpose of sustaining her sister's life.

She was forbidden from eting anyone, never permitted to venture outside. Her only companions were her grandfather and her sleeping sister, the sole beings she could occasionally speak to.

Everything was for her grandfather's wish. Everything was for a false, fleeting dream.

The girl, whom her revived "sister" called Theresa, stood in a narrow alley in Canghai City, steadying herself against a wall as she struggled onward.

So thirsty.

So incredibly thirsty...

Truly, I am so thirsty...

Her throat burned as if scorched by fire. Her vision swam, growing dim and hazy.

With her sister's help, she had escaped the cage that had imprisoned her since birth. But she and her sister had been far too naive...

An anomaly like her... she did not possess the ability to survive in the world of humans.

She was only fit to live within the cage her grandfather had constructed for her.

Ignorant of the world outside, perhaps not even aware that she had left her ho world bubble and erged in another, the girl staggered through the alleys of Canghai City.

She moved forward, driven by pure instinct.

It was the middle of the workday. The streets ahead teed with crowds, with people of every blood type, each emanating a sweet fragrance that was, for a vampire, an unbearable temptation.

I just want... to take one bite.

Due to a genetic flaw, Luna would grow perilously weak if she did not drink blood.

And now... she was on the very brink of collapse.

If she didn't drink blood soon, she would lose her sanity and transform into a ravenous, bloodthirsty beast.

Fully aware of this, the young vampire's sharp canines slid past her thin lips. They were her tools for the hunt, mutated for this single purpose.

All she had to do was grab any human, sink these predatory fangs into them, and her suffering would be eased.

But she had made a promise to her sister.

A promise not to harm humans.

I... I can still hold on.

Desperately craving blood, the girl forced her head to turn, stumbling back toward the deep, deserted alley. She couldn't stay out here any longer. Any longer, and her reason would shatter.

And then—

A faint, cloying, tallic sweetness drifted through the air.

Her instincts took over, and saliva flooded her mouth.

That was... the scent of human blood.

The scent of food.

It wasn't fresh, but it was more than enough to obliterate the sanity of a vampire already at her breaking point.

Like a string pulled taut to its limit, the thread of reason in the young vampire's mind snapped. Her last vestiges of control evaporated into nothing.

A terrifying strength erupted from within her petite fra.

And then—

Like a streak of white light tearing through the night.

The lithe girl launched herself forward, using the ground, the walls, the ledges of buildings to move with blinding speed. Lured by the promise of food, the utterly weakened girl dredged up a new well of power from the depths of her body.

Her velocity was so extre that it generated imnse wind pressure, causing the hem of her dress to ripple like flowing water, as if she were a dancer in a wild spin.

If so lecherous Captain were standing behind or below her, he would likely howl in delight. Under the force of the wind, her long black-and-red dress could not defy the laws of physics. It billowed upward, and anyone with sharp enough eyes could easily glimpse the intimate wear that matched the color of her black over-the-knee socks.

Unfortunately, with no one present, this beautiful sight was witnessed by no one.

The vampire girl, moving at a truly exceptional speed, followed the trail of the scent. She effortlessly vaulted over walls, fences, and other obstacles, arriving at the source of the blood's aroma.

It was a white van.

More accurately, it was a dical transport vehicle, devoid of doctors, nurses, or even a driver. The scent of blood, not entirely fresh, was wafting from within.

Her reason almost completely consud by instinctual hunger, the vampire girl had no ti for lessons like "vandalizing public property is wrong."

Her slender, pale fingers wrapped around the van's door handle.

Then, she pulled.

Like the wrapper of a cheap snack, the vehicle's door—which should have been able to withstand gunfire—was ripped clean off and tossed aside.

As a parallel-world counterpart to Theresa Apocalypse, Luna Kindred's strength was clearly on another level. Yes, on par with an Emperor-class Honkai Beast.

Having effortlessly removed the door, the vampire girl slipped through the gaping hole she'd created and into the vehicle's interior.

And then—

A rack filled with a row of already-opened blood bags ca into view.

It slls so good~~

Like Ali Baba stumbling upon the thieves' treasure, the girl stared at the rows of blood bags, her face lit up with an adorable expression, like a squirrel discovering a hidden cache of nuts.

Is this a gift from God?

Looking at the scene before her, the young vampire inexplicably thought of the divine. The visual impact was so overwhelming that she failed to even notice the blatantly obvious, completely unconcealed cara.

Her sister had told her that God gave the faithful holy bread. So, giving her blood bags must also be understandable, right? The vampire girl recalled the stories her sister had told.

After all, both were ant to sate one's hunger, weren't they?

With this slight misunderstanding of Christ's actions before the Passion, the young vampire hesitated no longer. She swiftly snatched a bag of blood and brought it to her lips.

The viscous, crimson liquid flowed into her mouth. To human senses, the blood would be tallic and foul, but to a vampire, it was a delicacy beyond compare.

Like a starving little animal, the girl rapidly drained the first bag completely.

Then the second, and the third...

With each intake of blood, a deeply satisfied smile blossod on the cute face of the girl who, monts ago, had felt her body spiraling out of control.

"ow~~"

Finally able to eat her fill, the sated girl reluctantly put down the empty blood bag in her hand and let out a sound of pure contentnt.

And then—

The chaotic sound of footsteps—more than one person—approached from outside the van, instantly putting Miss Luna on high alert.

Could it be n sent by Grandfather to capture ?

At the thought, she hurriedly grabbed several more blood bags, preparing to bolt.

But then, a man's voice drifted in, causing Miss Luna to freeze in place.

"I told you, didn't I? Finding my adorable kin wouldn't be so hard."
