Unexpectedly, Yun Qiqi wasn’t fooled, indicating that she only does work-related things during working hours and has no desire to accompany him on business trips.
She just wants to play with Song Shijia on weekends, or spend a day at the food street near the school gate, being a happy laid-back fish.
Indeed, she was a laid-back fish all day on Saturday, ate her fill, and only returned to the dormitory.
Then, she received a phone call.
It was a strange phone call, the kind whose number doesn’t even show a location.
Such calls, Yun Qiqi had only received recently on the plane to Country F, and as she looked at it, her gaze darkened.
Feeling the change in her aura, Song Shijia instinctively glanced at her.
"Luo Luo, what’s wrong? Whose call is it?"
Yun Qiqi said lightly, "Soone I know. I’ll take it."
She avoided her and walked to the restroom.
She did not want Song Shijia to know too much about the laboratory. If the lab was really as insane as Tong Xi ntioned... involving Shijia wouldn’t be beneficial to her.
Song Shijia, however, was taken aback and stayed unfocused for quite a while.
After she went in, she touched her nose and muttered, "I didn’t expect Luo Luo’s cold-faced look to be quite intimidating."
Once Yun Qiqi connected the call, the voice on the other end was indeed the Doctor’s.
His tone was gentle, like an elder chatting with a junior:
"Qi Qi, have you returned to the country? If you have ti, you need to co back for a follow-up check."
Yun Qiqi didn’t make a sound, gripping her phone tightly.
She now felt a surge of repulsion upon hearing the Doctor’s voice.
Previously she felt the sa, but perhaps now subconsciously seeing him as the bad guy, she was even more resistant.
The Doctor noticed her silence, perhaps recalling sothing, and after a mont, he spoke again: "I told you last ti, anything you’re curious about, when you return, I’ll tell you everything."
Yun Qiqi frowned, "What do you know?"
Doctor: "About your mory, and the matters between you and Yan Yan."
Yun Qiqi was taken aback, not expecting him to ntion these proactively.
If it indeed was as Tong Xi and Chen Yuchen speculated, shouldn’t the Doctor be doing his utmost to bury these truths?
Shouldn’t he not want her to recover her mory, not even letting her know that she used to know Yan Yan?
She couldn’t quite grasp what the Doctor wanted to do.
After hesitating, she spoke, "Alright, I’ll return tomorrow."
The Doctor perhaps sensed her caution, sighed, and then continued:
"Qi Qi, I know you have many doubts in your heart. Ever since you started interacting with Yan Yan, I’ve considered what he might tell you, but please believe , no one in this world can be more sincere to you than I am."
"You are the rare treasure of this world and the culmination of my life’s work. I won’t hurt you."
Yun Qiqi’s eyes carried a hint of complexity, and after several seconds of silence, she responded with a simple "Okay."
She hung up the phone.
Leaning against the wall, she gently furrowed her brows, her fair little face showing rare confusion.
This matter seems to be getting more and more complicated.
Her instincts leaned toward trusting Yan Yan; that man would never harm her.
But the Doctor’s words suggest there might be so hidden truth here.
If only she could find a way to recover her mory.
Once she regained her erased mories, all truths would co to light, and everything buried would surface.
Thinking of this, Yun Qiqi beca even more resolute about returning to the laboratory.
