That was a High Tier Magic spell, [Deathly Decay].
Within the area shrouded by Deathly Decay were a few scattered Skeleton Mages and a considerable number of Skeleton Archers.
Those fragile ranged units were tainted by the thick, black mist. Their bones quickly turned gray and brittle. Not only did their casting and attack speeds plumt, but many of the Low Tier Skeletons fell apart on the spot.
’So brutal...’ Lynch thought, stunned but also incredibly excited.
The signature area-of-effect Magic of these two Undead System Corpse Witches dealt reduced damage to Undead Units, but its powerful debilitating effect was still terrifying. Against enemies of flesh and blood, it would be a strategic-level crowd-control artifact.
Anthony’s defeat was now irreversible.
It was as if Instructor Annabella knew Lynch was "spying" from the shadows and intentionally put on a greater display. She was giving him a live demonstration, letting him get a feel for how High Tier Necromancers from the Summoning System waged war.
So, she once again tapped her Magic Staff lightly.
Another Netherworld Vortex opened.
The next mont, hoofbeats thundered.
A tall Knight mounted on a Skeleton Warhorse stepped out of the spatial vortex.
In its hand, it held a Greatsword burning with Nether Fla.
This was—a Death Knight.
Even in the Netherworld, it was considered nobility among the Undead, a master of the battlefield.
The mont it appeared, without needing any command, the hundred-plus elite Skeleton Cavalry on the battlefield answered an unspoken call. They automatically gathered around it, quickly forming an arrowhead charge formation.
The Death Knight raised its Nether Fla Greatsword high, the tip pointing directly at the rear of Anthony’s forces—at the ranged troops already caught in the shadow of Deathly Decay.
RUMBLE~~
The next instant, the torrent of steel was set in motion!
The Death Knight took the lead, its magnificent Undead Warhorse’s hooves churning and shattering the ground. The hundred-plus Skeleton Cavalry followed close behind, their bone lances leveled, forming an unstoppable death charge in the blink of an eye.
Anthony wanted to stop them, but his Undead Corps was already in disarray. He couldn’t muster any decent resistance and could only watch helplessly as the deadly torrent crashed into his rear ranged formation.
CRACK~ CRACK! CRASH~~!
In an instant, the sound of shattering bones beca a cacophony, like a symphony of death.
Led by the Death Knight, the hundred-plus Skeleton Cavalry charged back and forth like a at grinder, completely crushing Anthony’s ranged units in re monts.
The enormous Plague Zombie arrived late and tried to block them by spitting out a cloud of poison, but the Death Knight locked onto it with a precise charge. Its greatsword, wreathed in black energy and imbued with an aura that could tear space itself, swung down.
SLIIICE~
The Plague Zombie’s pustule-covered body was cleaved in two by that single strike.
Dark green fluids and rotten viscera spilled out like a waterfall, causing the surrounding ground to sizzle and corrode.
The Plague Zombie fell.
This scene completely shattered the last shred of Anthony’s will to resist.
His Undead Legion was crushed by Instructor Annabella in every single aspect—from numbers and quality to unit composition and High Tier combatants. There were no blind spots in her dominance.
From the mont his instructor unfurled her high-tier version of the Death Banner, this battle was destined to be a one-sided slaughter.
Lynch watched, his heart pounding and his blood boiling with excitent.
’One day... I’ll have a Death Legion just like that.’
Lynch was fired up, but Anthony was in complete despair.
He had originally thought he was just teaching a lesson to so arrogant Low Tier Necromancer who dared to cause trouble on his turf. He never expected that the boy was just bait for such a powerful High Tier Necromancer hiding in the wings.
Of course, Anthony had heard of this woman.
Annabella.
The genius Necromancer of the Grimsby Empire who had recently returned from studying abroad in the Realm of the Dead.
He had assud Annabella’s strength was, at best, comparable to his own. He never imagined she would be this terrifying.
’With this level of power, she’d be considered a top-tier genius even among the younger generation in the Realm of the Dead, wouldn’t she?’
’Why did soone like her have to co back? Why couldn’t she just stay and thrive in the Realm of the Dead?’
Anthony was both furious and frustrated.
His body trembled violently beneath his black robes.
’Escape. I have to escape now.’
Fortunately, when he was ordered to travel across the great ocean from the Realm of the Dead to the Grimsby Empire on business, he had been granted a few trump cards to save his life.
The next mont, he reluctantly pulled out a Scroll.
Lynch saw this and grew anxious. It went without saying that this was definitely a Life-saving Scroll.
But what Lynch never expected was that just as Anthony was about to unfurl the Scroll and tear it...
Suddenly, SHLICK! A dagger plunged into Anthony’s lower back.
Almost simultaneously, another dagger appeared from behind his head and slit his throat with lightning speed.
The two daggers seed exceptionally sharp; not even the Skeleton Armor Skill active on Anthony could block their keen edges.
THUD.
Anthony’s body pitched forward and fell to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
He died without ever seeing what had killed him.
But Lynch saw it all with perfect clarity.
An Undead Assassin.
It was a High Tier Undead Shadow Assassin.
He never thought his instructor had an Undead Assassin, and one of such a high level at that. Compared to it, his own treasured Bone Shadow seed like a petty thief playing with a dagger.
