Gu Kai Zhi took out his identification, and the hotel receptionist quickly checked him in.
He was on the third floor again. Taking the key from the front desk, he opened the door to his room.
The mont he stepped inside and closed the door, Gu Kai Zhi dropped his luggage on the floor and pulled Daya into his arms.
He held her tightly. After a slight, montary pause, Daya wrapped her arms around him in return.
Gu Kai Zhi buried his face in the crook of Daya’s neck and nuzzled against her.
Daya shifted. "That tickles."
Gu Kai Zhi released her and stood up straight, his gaze fixed intently on Daya.
"An Xin, I missed you so much. So, so much. I’ve never felt this way before. I was so desperate to see you. I was restless on the train, wishing it could just fly so I could get to you sooner."
"An Xin, did you cast a spell on ? Why can’t I control my own heart?"
Daya’s pupils trembled. Hearing Gu Kai Zhi’s sweet nothings about how much he missed her, she felt a mix of panic and delight.
"An Xin, did you miss ?"
Daya bit her lip, lowering her head shyly.
Gu Kai Zhi placed a hand on Daya’s cheek, caressing it gently. "Tell , did you miss ?"
Blushing, Daya let out a soft "Mm-hmm."
That single sound was like a sudden drink of water to a man dying of thirst.
The joy in Gu Kai Zhi’s eyes was about to overflow.
He slowly lowered his head and kissed the person he had been thinking of day and night.
As their lips t, his longing flooded out uncontrollably.
It wasn’t until Daya’s tongue felt numb and her lips were about to lose all feeling that she finally pushed Gu Kai Zhi away.
Their gazes locked. Gu Kai Zhi’s eyes were filled with desire, while Daya covered her own lips.
"It hurts a little..."
"Does it? Let see."
Daya shook her head, covering her mouth tightly, afraid he would kiss her again.
There was nothing Gu Kai Zhi could do about it. He bent down to pick up his luggage, then pulled Daya further into the room.
He put the luggage on the table and pulled Daya down to sit on the edge of the bed.
"I’m leaving tomorrow. Can you stay a little later tonight? Spend so more ti with ."
Daya asked in surprise, "Your schedule is so tight, why did you still co?"
Gu Kai Zhi looked at her with deep affection. "I missed you. Even if it ant sitting on a train for days, it was worth it just to see you once."
Daya’s heart ached for him.
"You must not have eaten yet. You rest for a bit. I’ll go out and get you so food."
Daya stood up, but Gu Kai Zhi grabbed her hand.
"Wait a little longer. I’ll go with you. That way we can spend more ti together."
Gu Kai Zhi pulled Daya back down to sit.
Gu Kai Zhi looked at Daya and asked seriously, "An Xin, do you still only like a little bit?"
Daya’s eyelids drooped slightly. She murmured, "After what you’ve done to , how can you still ask that?"
The corners of Gu Kai Zhi’s mouth lifted as he asked teasingly, "What have I done to you?"
Daya looked at him, astonished. "What do you think?"
Gu Kai Zhi laughed and pulled Daya into his embrace.
He didn’t know what it was like for other people when they were in a relationship, but Gu Kai Zhi just couldn’t resist being close to her. Holding each other like this, he felt an imnse sense of peace.
"You’re right. After what I’ve done, I should take responsibility for you. So, when will you marry ?"
Hearing this, Daya paused for a mont before pushing Gu Kai Zhi away.
"Get married?"
Daya hadn’t even considered that step. She only knew that she was dating Gu Kai Zhi now, but marriage felt far too rushed.
Gu Kai Zhi looked at her and asked, "Does it feel too sudden?"
Daya nodded. "It is very sudden. I have no plans to get married right now. I—I’m still young. I’ll have to wait a few more years before even thinking about marriage. It’s complicated. Are you in a hurry?"
Gu Kai Zhi said with a smile, "I am in a hurry. I want to sweep you off your feet and make you mine as soon as possible. But I can understand how you feel. Since you don’t want to get married so soon, we’ll just date for now. Whenever you’re ready to get married, just give a sign, and we’ll do it."
Daya nodded. "Okay."
Gu Kai Zhi stroked Daya’s head. "You’re so adorable, it makes want to just stick you in my pocket and take you with ."
Daya said, "But don’t we write to each other often?"
Gu Kai Zhi sighed. "Letters can only carry my longing, but I can’t see you. It would be wonderful if I could see you every day. An Xin, what am I going to do? I never used to find the days so hard to get through. Every ti I get a letter from you, I start missing you like crazy. You’re even in my dreams at night."
Daya chuckled. "Then maybe I should just reply once a month?"
Gu Kai Zhi shook his head. "Don’t you dare. Looking at your letters is the only way I can feel close to you."
Daya mumbled, "You’re so hard to please."
Gu Kai Zhi laughed, a loud, hearty laugh that made Daya’s face turn red.
Exasperated, Daya slapped him playfully, but Gu Kai Zhi caught her hand.
The two of them went out to eat. By now, night had fallen. Gu Kai Zhi, having shed his earlier reservations, held Daya’s hand as he walked her ho.
Gu Kai Zhi said to Daya, "I want to tell my family about us. I want my parents to be happy, to let them know I have a girlfriend now."
Daya said in a fluster, "Huh? Do I have to do anything?"
Gu Kai Zhi shook his head. "You don’t have to do anything. I’m just telling you so you know. You don’t need to worry about my family. You only need to worry about ."
"Alright, then." Daya wasn’t good at dealing with people, especially strangers.
Gu Kai Zhi noticed Daya’s apprehension and comforted her, "Even after we get married, my family won’t bother us. You won’t see them often."
Daya looked at him, confused, not quite understanding what he ant.
Gu Kai Zhi explained, "The older generation has a different way of thinking than we do. They have their own way of saying and doing things. Besides, I have a big family. We won’t live with them in the future. Even filial piety is my responsibility. All you have to do is et them."
Daya nodded. Since Gu Kai Zhi had put it that way, it was for the best if she could avoid any trouble.
’No one wants to go out of their way to please others anyway.’
