Shu Yu found it strange that with all this commotion, ng Yunzheng’s na had been announced, and Uncle Tao, who knew ng Yunzheng and eagerly wanted to be rescued, had not made a sound.
Upon closer inspection, he was nowhere to be seen inside.
ng Yunzheng didn’t like Tao Feili, but he still asked, "Mr. Lu, where did Tao Feili go?"
Lu Wu was taken aback, "You know him?"
ng Yunzheng nodded, and Lu Wu, thinking they were close, sighed, "He was taken away by Jiang Kuanyu earlier. It sounded like he was taken to the interrogation room, but I’m not sure how he’s doing now."
Earlier?
ng Yunzheng and Shu Yu exchanged a glance, realizing that Jiang Kuanyu had entered the cell before because of Tao Feili.
"Where is the interrogation room?"
Lu Wu replied, "It’s right at the entrance of the cell; there’s a room specifically for interrogations..." He paused and added, "and for torture."
ng Yunzheng narrowed his eyes, "Let’s go, take there."
Lu Wu walked ahead to lead the way, and the others followed.
As they passed the two cells at the entrance, ng Yunzheng couldn’t help but turn his head to look. The laborers there seed aware of the group’s purpose, their eyes no longer as indifferent as before.
But when they saw ng Yunzheng looking over, they all lowered their heads or turned away, not daring to et his gaze.
Lu Wu whispered, "These people have been enslaved by the black market for too long, numb every day. Getting them to rebel in a short ti is almost impossible."
They had tried to resist when they first arrived, but it only brought beatings and even death. Over ti, they gave up hope, realizing that as long as they worked well, they wouldn’t face the fate of being thrown to the beasts.
ng Yunzheng nodded. He understood, which is why he hadn’t factored these people into his plans initially.
There were a few inside who wanted to stand up or speak, but they were held back by others.
ng Yunzheng withdrew his gaze and quickened his pace toward the interrogation room.
The door to the interrogation room was closed. ng Yunzheng instructed Xia Yi to take Lu Wu and the others to choose weapons from the armory, while he unlocked the interrogation room.
As the door opened, a strong sll of blood hit his nose.
Raising his head, ng Yunzheng saw Tao Feili bound to a rack.
Tao Feili was in a terrible state, covered in blood, even worse than Uncle ng.
ng Yunzheng quickly stepped forward, checking for a pulse on his neck. After a mont, he turned and shook his head at Shu Yu.
"Dead."
Shu Yu’s expression tightened, "Jiang Kuanyu’s doing."
ng Yunzheng nodded, taking Tao Feili’s body down from the rack and laying it flat on the ground.
He took one last look, "Let’s go, deal with things outside first, then take his body back."
The two exited the interrogation room, locked it, and headed decisively toward the cell entrance.
As they passed by the Beast Camp, they found two ard n standing guard, and they paused in surprise.
Those two hurriedly said, "Brother Lu told us to stand guard here just in case. To prevent soone from opening the Beast Camp gate later."
ng Yunzheng nodded, "Thank you for your hard work."
He continued forward to join the others.
Shu Yu followed behind. After a few steps, he looked back, feeling that those two guarding the Beast Camp gate...was a bit strange.
