"You dimwit, trolls inherently possess the skill of Regenerative Hide. No matter what damage you inflict on it, the troll will quickly regenerate through it all. If you want to deal so real damage, aim for its head," Vangeance gave advice from the side.
Heeding the advice, the young squire aid for the head. However, the monster in question was no ordinary troll but a Boss Troll, a variant. It was intelligent enough to protect its head, which was its weak point.
GROARR... BANG... BANG... It roared loudly and slamd its club into the ground twice, a telltale sign that it was about to activate its skill.
"Be careful of that. The Boss troll is about to activate its [Tornado Spin]".
Kevin clenched his teeth and backed away. At that every instant, the troll started spinning with its club extended outwards. The sheer force from its strength stats caused gales to form around it, and soon, the Boss Troll turned into an actual spinning tornado.
Whoosh... in a matter of seconds, the entire land in dozens of ters was devastated. Trees snapped in half, boulders shattered into splinters before being thrown into the air. Everything that ca into contact with the tornado was destroyed.
Kevin ran; however, in the end, he was much too inexperienced and was cornered with nowhere to go.
"Tsk, that fool." Vangeance prepared to intervene.
At that mont when everything pointed at the squire’s defeat, the latter did sothing that managed to surprise the knight a second ti.
SLASH... A sword tracing an elegant curve clashed against the massive club of the troll and deflected it seemingly very easily.
GROAR... The boss troll roared in surprise and tumbled down, its skill intercepted.
Vangeance, who was about to make his move, stood rooted in his place. The slash just now was fast, smooth, and perford in a single breath, leaving no gaps. More importantly, it was the very sa swift slash that he had displayed to the squires earlier when taking out the monster hordes.
"This brat," Vangeance grinned, his eyes shining with excitent. The reason why he was able to perform that technique in the way he did was because of the transcendent state he mastered, the state of [One with the sword].
However, Kevin was yet to master such a state, yet he could display such refined mastery over a technique. It really made one wonder how he did it.
That said, the surprise coming from the young squire did not end here. Right after performing that slash, Kevin entered a mysterious state that completely changed his aura.
This change was so dramatic that even others could feel it. Gwen and Rolan, having finished defeating their monster, turned to look at their friend. At this mont, there was sothing about the latter that did not feel right.
With regards to the looks his friends and comrades were giving him, Kevin did not pay any attention. No, it would be more accurate to say that he was unable to spare any attention to anything else at this mont.
"What is going on?" he blinked his eyes.
At this mont, the world around him had changed. Crimson gleaming lines that seed to be connecting all things in this world seem to appear in front of his vision.
He looked around, the gleaming lines were present everywhere. From the ground to the trees and even on the Boss Troll. In fact, the latter was surrounded by nurous gleaming crimson lines.
What was this feeling? What was he looking at?
At this mont, he could feel his own breath, his pounding heart, and strangely the composition of his sword. If he had to put it in a more easy to understand words, it would be like the sword had beco an extension of himself.
He could control every movent and swing of his sword down to the extre.
BADUMP... at this mont, he heard a heartbeat. Needless to say, it was not his own but was actually surprisingly coming from the sword.
"Kill... Demons... Revenge" words that only he could hear, sounded beside his ears.
The heart beat earlier, and now those words, Kevin was sure now, the reason why he was in this state was due to the sword in his hand.
"Y-You can talk?"
The squire questioned; however, he did not get any reply. The only words that ca from the sword were "Follow the lines and sever their life force. The third ability of the crimson sword is now for you to use".
Saying that, the sword beca completely silent, like a dead steel.
"Wait... Urgh!" Before Kevin could understand anything, a vast amount of information flooded into his mind, causing him to reel back in pain.
In the distance, the Boss Troll picked itself up and looked at the puny human in surprise. What ca next was a guttural roar, followed by it going into a rage mode.
"Not good, it’s using its [Rage Riot] skill." Another skill exclusive to the race of trolls. Once this skill was activated, in return for sacrificing a portion of their healing ability, they gain imnse strength for a short period of ti.
The Boss Troll’s strength stat was already high as it was, with the added boost, if the club connected against Kevin, he might actually die.
Just as Vangeance prepared to step in for real this ti, the person in question started walking towards the troll in a trance. The latter’s eyes were unfocused, and their guard... it was non existent.
To anyone, and even to an experienced knight like Vangeance, it appeared that Kevin had lost focus and was actually walking towards his death.
However, just as the troll’s club ca down, sothing about the latter changed again. He swung his sword, easily intercepting and deflecting the club away.
In the sa breath, he slashed towards the now unguarded chest of the troll and opened a large gash.
PSSHH... Blood sprayed out everywhere like a fountain.
