If his enemies thought that they could win over him if they sent him to a place that is unsuitable for humans to survive, they could not be any more mistaken.
Reinhardt took a step forward; the snow was knee deep, dense, and heavy, clinging to his boots like it wanted to drag him under. Every movent felt slower, heavier, as though the world itself resisted him.
However, it couldn’t affect him. One of the Divine Traits that Dioanax gave him finally found the day when it could shine.
[Divine Resilience]. Description: A body forged in the heavens. Effect: The character is impervious to extre temperatures, atmospheric pressures, and environntal hazards. They can walk unscathed through fire, blizzards, or even the vacuum of space.
Thanks to this skill, even in such a hostile environnt, Reinhardt could walk and run freely as if he were strolling in the garden.
STEP... STEP... How long had it been? He continued to walk.
There was no sense of direction; north, south, east, west... it was all the sa. To make matters worse, you can’t even see your footsteps. The extre snowfall covered all tracks.
"So this is the power of the Abyssal Compass, huh?" Reinhardt reckoned that even a True Knight would only last a little more than a week here before the snow claid them.
The snow and the extre cold were not the only hostile things in this world.
He extended his hand and exuded so of his mana. Imdiately, it dimd and whizzed out a few seconds later. The true dreadfulness of this place was in the fact that it continuously absorbed one’s energy.
"No matter how much you walk, the scenery remains the sa. The cold eats at your strength and mind until you forget why you move."
His enemies went through the trouble to prepare sothing this good for him, so it would be a sha if he did not play his part.
It needs to be stressed that Reinhardt could walk away from this place if he wanted to using [Aetherial Stride], foiling the plans of his enemy. However, if he did so, he would never be able to know the true face of his enemies nor their motives.
The mont he used the [Eyes of Divine Clarity] back in the underground vault, he already knew who started this.
But since he didn’t have the complete picture, he went along with the plan they cooked up, all so he could reel in his enemies using their own sche against them.
That’s right, Reinhardt was already aware that they were planning sothing. Of course, he didn’t know how everything would unfold, which is why he was here.
And so, he continued to walk.
Days passed by... STEP... STEP... Snow cracked beneath his foot.
Weeks passed by... STEP... STEP... Snow piled up on his body.
Months passed by... STEP... STEP...
His breathing beca short and his movents weary.
Years passed by... Reinhardt was no longer able to move and seed to have been frozen, his body devoid of all energy. Snow continued to billow endlessly.
Just when it seed like there would be no change in the scenery, sothing in the white world began to stir.
"Kukuku... so even the Divine Paladin is powerless against the might of the Abyssal Compass, huh?"
The thing that was hiding in this world finally ca out.
A body that was close to him, long horns, and a barbed tail coming out of their back, the being that stepped out of the space was none other than a High Ranking Demon. What’s more, he wasn’t alone.
As he snapped his fingers, hundreds; no, thousands and thousands of figures stepped out. With armor donned and auras distorted, the identity of the malignant entities was clear: Demonified Knights.
Their numbers were so great that it was mind boggling.
"The Divine Paladin cannot be underestimated. He is just frozen for now. Once the ice breaks, he would no doubt erupt with frightening strength."
Another figure stepped out; this one was no humanoid but rather an actual human. With grey hair, noble clothes, and a bearing that didn’t match the environnt he was in, the person was none other than Earl Malmond.
"Relax, this is why I exhausted the power of the compass to increase the flow of ti in this world. For us, only a couple of hours had passed. However, for the Divine Paladin, more than a decade might as well have passed. No matter how great of a warrior he is, in the end, he is still human."
The High Ranking Demon cackled, looking at the knight trapped inside a block of decade old ice.
"I never knew the Abyssal Compass had a power like that. In the first place, if you could use such a powerful ability, why didn’t you do so before?"
There had been plenty of opportunities to trap the Divine Paladin.
"Heh, human, you think a treasure on the level of an Ultimate Demonic Treasure is so easy to use? To unleash an ability as powerful as this, not only does it need a vast amount of demonic energy, but the item also needs to recognise you as its master. If not for the awakening of that being, using sothing like this would have been impossible."
Earl Malmond narrowed his eyes. He had been hearing about ’that being’ from the mouth of the demon quite a lot.
"Will I ever get a chance to et ’that being’?"
"Tsk, human, don’t get too conceited. The being is soone even my lord cannot et often, so forget about a re gofer like you. Be honoured that you are at least in my presence. It’s sickening for to be with a human." The demon sneered.
Earl Malmond was irritated; nevertheless, he did not dwell on the topic and instead focused his attention on the person frozen in ice.
"Did you prepare all the things I told you to?"
They were talking about killing a man who had the power to go toe to toe against the Seventh Heavenly King and wake up even after being inflicted with the Demon Lord’s curse.
