Seeing this, Reinhardt simply smiled. "There is nothing wrong with it, Your Majesty."
He spoke, using a tone that he only used in private. It was a testant to the history between them and his promise to her.
After being assured by Reinhardt, the Queen finally relaxed a little.
"Then why isn’t it eating?" she blinked.
"It’s because you have been trying to feed it worms and things that a normal bird eats".
At that mont, a voice echoed within her mind.
[See? I told you.]
It was Minerva.
[You should have given it mana crystals or core stones. If it’s a magical beast, it should eat those].
The Queen frowned slightly. Then looked at Reinhardt.
"Should I have fed it core stones instead? Minerva’s been chanting ’It’s a beast, it eats power,’ in my head for forty-eight hours straight. But that seed... cruel. To give a baby rocks."
Reinhardt smiled and shook his head again. He reached out and stroked the chick.
"If it were an ordinary beast, then feeding it worms and mana stones would be normal. However, this fellow is no ordinary beast". Reinhardt explained.
"The egg I left with you belongs to a Divine Beast. A phoenix."
The mont he spoke those words, Minerva, inside the Queen, opened her eyes wide.
"A being born from flas. A creature that burns away all evil in existence. It dies in fire... and is reborn from its own ashes. An eternal fla that never fades."
The Queen stared at the tiny chick in her arms as if seeing it for the first ti.
"A... phoenix... but it must eat sothing, right?"
"It does." Reinhardt reached out into his [Dinsional Storage] and took out the branch of the Divine Tree he got from the Spirit King Asterius.
After that, he lit the branch on fire, and soon a brilliant erald green fire ca to life.
Along with the fire, the scent of ancient forests and loamy earth drifted into the air.
The Queen looked at the fire and recognised it as the fire that burned on the World Tree Yggdrasil’s branches.
These were the sa flas that were used to purge the demons all across Solaris.
"What this little fellow eats is not food, but fire," Saying that, Reinhardt pointed at the erald green fire.
"It feeds on... fire?" The Queen muttered absentmindedly.
Then, before she could say anything, the chick that had been silent all this ti suddenly issued a chirp.
"Chirp!" The mont it saw the fire, its eyes lit up, and it beca energetic.
Its tiny body wiggled excitedly. Then... Whoosh... it opened its mouth, and a powerful suction force pulled the erald fla straight into its open beak.
Seeing this scene, the Queen gasped. "It’s eating it...!"
The chick was happily consuming the fla. Bit by bit until... Pop. Its tiny belly puffed up.
Having eaten to its fill, the chick blinked its eyes and rolled on the Queen’s palm in satiation.
At this mont, it looked so absurdly cute that no female folk in this world would be immune to its charm.
The Queen was no exception. She cuddled the cute thing.
"You greedy little thing! Look at your belly!" She gently nuzzled its pot round belly.
At this mont, the worry lted away from her body, and she turned back to her radiant, beautiful self.
"Look, it’s so full and cute." In her excitent, she grabbed Reinhardt’s hands and locked arms with him.
Her joy was so infectious that even Reinahrdt found himself smiling. He looked from the blissfully bloated vermillion chick to the queen whose crimson hair seed to catch the sunlight and burn with its own fire.
The colors looked so strikingly similar.
"It is a beautiful color. It suits her. It reminds of your hair."
Reinhardt spoke, looking at the Queen.
The latter paused. For a brief mont, the two looked at each other.
In that quiet space of the palace garden, the two of them didn’t look like a queen and her knight. But simply a handso man and a beautiful woman.
The golden hue of the setting sun painted the garden in a warm amber light. There a man and a woman slowly got closer until their faces were right next to each other.
The next second, in a very natural turn, their lips t in a kiss.
It was deep and lingering, a quiet conversation.
Everything that was ant to be said, everything that was left unsaid, was exchanged at this mont.
As this was a secluded corner of the palace, the guards and servants did not co to this area often. Plus, Reinhardt also possessed Divine Luck, thus he wasn’t worried about anyone observing them.
However, unbeknownst to the two, soone did enter the garden monts ago.
With a beautiful face and radiant golden hair, she was none other than the princess of Aetherion, Diana.
She had co here to report on a matter to the Queen and possibly ask her opinion about it.
However, never in her wildest dreams did she imagine she would stumble upon such a scene.
Quickly, she hid behind a pillar and watched the scene with a flushed face.
The Queen and the Divine Paladin were kissing.
It was not the ceremonious kiss on the back of the hand but a full on mouth to mouth kiss exchanged between a man and a woman.
Seeing the way the two kissed each other so passionately and longingly caused heat to rush to her body.
This wasn’t sothing she was ant to see. Her heart began to race.
Why was the Divine Paladin here?
Why were the two like this?
For reasons she herself couldn’t understand, she felt a pang of pain in her heart.
The heat surging within her body caused her to feel uncomfortable. It was reacting in a weird way.
Her breathing beca uneven, and before Diana knew it, darkness took her, and she lost consciousness.
Thud...
.
When she opened her eyes again, a familiar ceiling ca into view.
