At least on the frontlines, things were simple.
Kill, cleanse, and repeat. No hidden intentions or layered conversations. Just war and enemies.
Of course, it was not like he did not like peace. In fact, what he was striving for, his end goal was also to bring eternal peace to this land. Not the temporary one the world currently has.
Still, for a man like him who was practically built for war, stuck behind an office like this was pure torture.
While having such thoughts, he looked at his room. Today, his room was unusually empty. Normally, Karina, Zerina, and the other won would co disturbing his sleep, giving him company on the bed throughout the night.
However, today, for so reason, none of them were here.
Well, a night of quiet and sound sleep wasn’t a bad thing either.
While thinking that Reinhardt closed his eyes, willing his mind to settle down.
Just as his consciousness was about to drift away, a sound pierced the quiet.
Creak... the door to his room was opened, and a soft footstep hurriedly ca in.
Reinhardt opened his eyes and turned to look at the entrance. Seeing who it was caused him to be surprised for a good while.
As it turns out, it was not lissa, Anastasia, Karina, Zerina, or any of the won who usually visited his room, but rather a new face.
"Eleanor?"
What was she doing here in his room at this hour? At that mont, Reinhardt’s eyes went towards the clothes she was wearing.
It wasn’t a gown but rather a silken warp of light lavender that clung to every curve of her voluptuous body.
The fabric was thin, almost semi-transparent, and it was tied in a way that highlighted her body rather than concealing it.
The gown hugged the pronounced swell of her breasts, the narrow waist, the full hips. The neckline plunged, and the hem ended high on her thighs.
Eleanor, at this mont, looked all dolled up. Her golden hair with crimson streaks was tied into a bun, enhancing her femininity and fully revealing her delicate neck and shoulders.
Add to that her dreamy face that was at this mont flushed a deep, nervous crimson from her cheeks down to her neck. She looked like a fantasy, a goddess of myth, packaged and delivered to his bedchamber.
Looking at her, any man’s blood would rush, their instincts flaring to claim, to devour the woman in front.
Eleanor standing by the door, kept her head down. Then, with shuffling steps, she quickly arrived at the bed and tucked herself into it.
Eleanor slid under the heavy comforter on the far side, pulling it up over her head until only the top of her golden-and-red hair was visible.
She beca a small, huddled bundle in his enormous bed.
The sight was so unexpectedly... cute that Reinhardt couldn’t help but smile. The nefarious thoughts that surged into his mind disappeared, and he cald down.
He, too, flopped onto his bed, propped his head with his arms, and dazedly stared at the ceiling.
He did not say anything, nor did he get too close to her. He continued to simply stare at the ceiling in a daze, giving Eleanor the space and ti she needed.
Seconds turned into minutes. Finally, after half an hour of inactivity, the cocoon on his bed spoke.
"Why aren’t you doing anything?"
Reinhardt smiled, "What do you want to do?"
Eleanor wiggled her face out of the comforter. "You know... the things you do... to lissa. And the other won."
As she said that, her face beca as red as a tomato and she hid her head again.
"Are you telling to eat you?" Reinhardt asked, his tone light, teasing. "Is that why you ca dressed up so deliciously?"
"Don’t tease !" The bundle shifted. A hand erged from the comforter edge and slapped weakly at the space near his arm.
"I’m not teasing. I’m asking. You look like a banquet, Eleanor. But you’re hiding under the tablecloth."
After a pause, the bundle shifted again. A hand erged and shifted the fabric away.
Reinhardt could see Eleanor again. Although half of her body was still wrapped with the comforter, she was no longer bundled.
Eleanor gazed at him, the flush on her face becoming more prominent by the second. Then, before Reinhardt’s surprised eyes, she scooted across the bed, wrapped her arms around his torso, and pressed her face against his bare chest.
Reinhardt opened his mouth, unable to process what was going on. This was so different from seduction that it could not be said as seduction anymore.
She was clumsily clinging to him, like a koala clinging to a tree. The scene was more heartwarming than sexy.
As if reading his thoughts, Eleanor blushed fiercely. "Don’t look down on , I want to do this. I have made up my mind. I will make you fall for ."
Reinhardt sighed and replied, "Eleanor, you don’t have to do this to make fall for you."
Eleanor slowly looked up, her face was still mostly buried against his chest, but her eyes, those beautiful eyes that were wet and glimred like gems, were brimming with emotions.
"But I want to. You have beco an inseparable part of my life. You gave a reason to live. You pulled from the shadow of that... that man. You believed in my talent. You changed my life completely."
A tear escaped, tracing a hot path down her cheek.
"I’ve fallen for you. My heart beats faster whenever I see you. When you are not around, my heart longs for you. You are the only thing on my mind. I love you".
Eleanor’s confession poured out, raw and unscripted.
Reinhardt listened to everything she had to say, his fingers brushing away her tears.
"I see the other won hanging with you every night. lissa, Anastasia, Karina, Zerina... they all have a place with you. A physical place. I was afraid of that. I was terrified of the intimacy. But I’m not afraid anymore".
