SERAPHIM COURT - ROYAL PALACETHREE DAYS AFTER CASSANDRA’S CRYSTAL BEGAN TRANSMITTING

The War Room in the Palace’s central tower was designed for strategic etings.....a circular chamber with a dod ceiling enchanted to display tactical maps, energy readings, and surveillance information. Tonight, it showed sothing far more valuable than any map: live recordings from Cassandra’s crystal.

Lord Malachai stood at the room’s center, watching with savage satisfaction as images flickered across the do. Eve training in the underground facility. Eve being claid by her three mates. Eve screaming as power surged through her during particularly intense exercises. Every mont captured in perfect detail, every weakness catalogued, every routine docunted.

"This is gold," Lady Vex said from her position at the strategy table. "We have her location, her training schedule, her abilities, her vulnerabilities. Everything we need to plan a perfect strike."

"More than that," Commander Dross added, studying the tactical readouts. "We have psychological profiles on all three alphas. Their protective patterns, their response tis, their individual strengths and weaknesses. This crystal has given us a complete intelligence package."

Around the room, representatives from all five factions watched the surveillance with varying expressions. Lady Seraphine looked thoughtful and calculating. Lady Morgana appeared fascinated by the magical signatures visible in Eve’s power displays. Lady Katerina studied the combat footage with a warrior’s critical eye. Lord Cassius was already running financial calculations, probably estimating the value of this information if sold to other parties.

And in the shadows near the door, wearing the face and identity of minor noble Lord Raphael, Eve’s uncle watched everything with growing fury carefully hidden behind a mask of mild interest.

"The question," Lady Seraphine said, breaking the silence, "is what we do with this information. We all agreed to send envoys. Diplomatic approaches. But this...." She gestured to the do where Eve was currently screaming as Damian edged her for the fourth hour straight. "This changes things."

"How?" Lady Katerina challenged. "She’s training, yes. Developing abilities faster than expected, yes. But she’s also clearly unstable. Look at the power fluctuations. Look at how her emotional state affects her control. She’s dangerous....to herself as much as to others."

"Which makes her easier to kill," Malachai said bluntly. "Emotional instability is a weakness we can exploit. Push the right buttons, trigger the right response, and she’ll destroy herself without us having to lift a finger."

"Or she’ll level everything within a mile radius," Lady Morgana countered. "Those power spikes are unprecedented. If she loses control completely during an attack, the collateral damage could be catastrophic."

"Then we don’t give her the chance to lose control," Malachai said. "We send Zane. He gets in close, makes it quick and clean, and the problem ends before she can react."

"You’re still advocating assassination," Lady Seraphine said coldly. "Despite our agreent."

"Our agreent was made before we had this intelligence," Malachai countered, pointing to the do. "Before we knew exactly how vulnerable she is. Before we understood that she’s being actively hunted by others already....look at this footage from two hours ago."

The image shifted to show Cassandra being dragged into a dungeon, screaming and pleading. Then Eve’s face appeared....cold, ruthless, absolutely rciless as she ordered the interrogation to begin.

"She’s executing her own people," Malachai said. "Torturing them for information. This isn’t a naive girl we can manipulate. This is soone who’s already embracing the darkness. Already becoming dangerous."

"She’s protecting herself," Lady Katerina corrected. "That female betrayed her, sold information to enemies. Any competent ruler would do the sa. I find it encouraging, actually. Shows she understands that rcy is a luxury she can’t afford."

"Or it shows she’s unstable and brutal," Malachai argued. "Either way, she’s a threat. And threats should be eliminated before they beco problems."

Lord Cassius cleared his throat. "Gentlen, ladies.....perhaps we’re approaching this wrong. We have leverage now. Real, actionable leverage. Why waste it on assassination when we could use it for negotiation?"

"Explain," Lady Seraphine said.

"Simple." Cassius smiled his rchant’s smile. "We let her know we have this information. Let her know we’ve been watching. Then we offer a trade.....we destroy the recordings, cease surveillance, and guarantee her safety... in exchange for certain concessions when she takes the throne."

"Blackmail," Lady Morgana said flatly. "You want to blackmail the Seraphim heir."

"I want to create a mutually beneficial arrangent," Cassius corrected smoothly. "She gets protection and privacy. We get favorable terms for our factions. Everyone wins."

"Except she’s mated to three alphas who will tear apart anyone threatening her," Commander Dross pointed out. "The mont you try to leverage this information, you make enemies of one of the most powerful wolf packs in three territories. Is that really wise?"

"They’re wolves, not gods," Malachai said dismissively. "Powerful, yes. But not invincible. Especially not against a coordinated supernatural strike."

"You want war," Lady Seraphine said. "War with the wolf packs, war with whoever else has allied with her. That’s what assassination will bring."

"War is already coming," Malachai said. "The mont a Seraphim heir takes the throne, our entire revolution is invalidated. Everything we built, every reform we pushed through, every change we made.....it all becos illegitimate. We’ll be branded traitors and executed. So yes, I want war. I want to end this threat before it ends us."

The room fell silent, the weight of his words settling over everyone. He wasn’t wrong.....a legitimate Seraphim heir did threaten everything the Revolutionary faction had built. But the cost of opposing her...

"I propose a vote," Lady Seraphine said finally. "Each faction decides its approach. Assassination, negotiation, diplomatic contact, or observation. We share intelligence but pursue our own strategies. Agreed?"

Reluctant nods around the room. It wasn’t ideal, but it was better than fracturing completely.

"Traditionalists vote for diplomatic contact," Lady Seraphine announced. "We’ll send an envoy to et with her, assess her character, and offer support if she proves worthy."

"Revolutionaries vote for assassination," Malachai said without hesitation. "We’ll deploy Zane within forty-eight hours."

"rchants vote for negotiation," Cassius said. "We’ll make contact and propose a business arrangent."

"Military votes for combat trial," Lady Katerina declared. "We’ll challenge her formally. Let her prove her strength through battle."

All eyes turned to Lady Morgana, who had remained silent during the debate.

"Neutrals vote for observation," she said finally. "We’ll track her, study her, but make no direct contact until we have more data. The magical implications of her bond with three alphas require further research before we can make inford decisions."

"Then we’re decided," Lady Seraphine said. "Each faction pursues its own approach. But we share intelligence through this council. Agreed?"

"Agreed," ca the chorus of responses.

Malachai turned to Commander Dross. "Summon Zane. I want him briefed and deployed by tomorrow night."

"Already done," Dross confird. "He’s been on standby since the crystal started transmitting. He’s reviewed all the footage, studied her patterns, identified optimal strike windows."

"And the three alphas?" Malachai asked.

"Accounted for in the plan," Dross said. "Zane’s strategy is to strike when they’re separated from her. Force them to choose between pack duties and mate protection. Create a window where she’s vulnerable."

"Good." Malachai’s smile was cold and satisfied. "How long does he need?"

"Seventy-two hours to reach the location. Another twenty-four to forty-eight for reconnaissance and final planning. Figure five days total before the strike."

"Five days," Malachai repeated. "Five days and this problem ends permanently."

Lady Seraphine’s expression remained carefully neutral, but her mind was racing. Five days wasn’t much ti to arrange her own diplomatic approach. She’d need to move quickly, get her envoy there before Zane, establish contact before assassination beca the default option.

Lady Katerina was thinking similar thoughts. A formal combat challenge required specific protocols, ritual preparations. She’d need to dispatch her warrior imdiately to arrive before Malachai’s assassin turned this into a bloodbath.

Lord Cassius was already calculating travel tis and ssage delivery thods. If he could get his proposal to Eve before the others made contact, he’d have the advantage of first offer.

Only Lady Morgana seed unconcerned with the tiline. She had ways of tracking Eve that didn’t require physical presence. Ways of observing that transcended normal surveillance. She could afford to be patient.

"eting adjourned," Lady Seraphine announced. "We reconvene in forty-eight hours to share progress reports."

The factions dispersed, each returning to their territories to finalize their respective plans. Within an hour, the War Room was empty except for the surveillance images still flickering across the do and one shadow that hadn’t moved.

Lord Raphael....Eve’s uncle....stepped out of the darkness, his mild-mannered disguise lting away to reveal the hardened warrior beneath. He looked up at the do, watching footage of his niece being brutalized during training, being claid by her mates, being forced to grow up far too fast because he hadn’t been strong enough to protect her differently.

"Five days," he murmured to himself. "They give themselves five days to reach her. To threaten her. To try to kill her or control her or use her."

He pulled out his own communication crystal....not the standard Court-issued type, but sothing older, more powerful, keyed specifically to his bloodline. It glowed with soft golden light, responding to his touch.

"I have less ti than that," he continued, speaking to the crystal as if it could hear him. "Less ti to prepare. Less ti to reveal myself and give her the knowledge she needs to survive what’s coming."

He’d been watching from the shadows for twenty-three years. Protecting without revealing himself. Keeping her safe while she grew strong enough to face her destiny. But the shadows were no longer sufficient. The threats were too imdiate, too coordinated, too deadly.
