"Feel is insufficient," Raphael said. "She could make people experience things. The full spectrum of sensation, emotion, mory.....she could reach into a person’s mind and rewrite their mont-to-mont reality. Not permanently. Not with damage, unless she chose. But completely, while she maintained the projection."

He let that land.

"You inherited this ability," he continued. "I’ve seen evidence of it already....when your succubus first fully erged, when you dominated Damian in his office. That wasn’t just standard succubus influence. That was projection. Raw, untrained, instinctive, but projection."

"The chair," Eve said, rembering. "When I bound him.....it wasn’t just physical restraint."

"No," Raphael confird. "You were projecting a complete experience of helplessness and surrender. The physical bindings were almost secondary. The reason he couldn’t break free wasn’t because your energy constructs were stronger than his physical strength....it was because you made him feel, completely and totally, that struggling was pointless."

From the observation area, Damian made a sound that might have been several things. Eve chose not to look at him.

"Can you teach to do that deliberately?" she asked.

"That’s what this half is for," Raphael said. He moved to stand directly in front of her, close enough that she could feel his energy in the air between them. "I’m going to guide you through the technique your mother developed. It requires...." He considered how to fra this. ".....it requires you to access your own emotional experience and amplify it outward. To take what you feel and make it real for everyone around you."

"Like broadcasting," Eve said.

"Exactly like broadcasting. And like any broadcast, the signal needs to be clean. Focused. Intentional. Unfocused projection is what you’ve been doing instinctively...." He gestured around them at the training room. ".....causing power surges, making your mates react, affecting people without aning to. Focused projection is a surgical instrunt."

He held out his hand. "Give your hand."

Eve placed her hand in his....his palm was warm, his grip firm and professional. Imdiately she felt the connection that ca from skin contact between mbers of the sa supernatural lineage. Not the mate-bond warmth she felt with the brothers, but sothing different. Sothing that was recognition. Heritage. Blood calling to blood across whatever distance death and ti had placed between them.

"Close your eyes," Raphael said. "Find an emotion. A real one. Sothing you’re genuinely feeling right now, in this mont."

Eve closed her eyes and went inward. She felt....

Hope. Clear and bright and almost painfully present. The hope that had been building since Raphael arrived, since Margaret improved, since she’d sat with Elena in the kitchen and understood that her world was expanding rather than contracting. The hope that she was becoming sothing equal to what was being asked of her.

"I have it," she said.

"Good. Now....don’t push it outward. Don’t project it like you have been, with force. Instead...." His hand tightened slightly. ".....let it expand. Like opening a door rather than throwing a rock through a window. Let the emotion find its own edges and reach its own distance."

Eve released the control she’d been keeping over her emotional state. Let the hope simply.....exist. Without containing it.

The effect was imdiate and unmistakable.

She felt it move outward from her in concentric rings, gentle and warm, touching the edges of the room and....she could perceive this clearly now.....moving through the walls into the hallways, into adjacent rooms, into the estate beyond.

From the observation area, she heard Damon make a soft sound. Heard the shift in Damian’s breathing. Heard Silas exhale slowly, like a man releasing sothing he’d been holding.

Raphael’s grip on her hand steadied. "Good. Now sharpen it. Focus it to a point rather than a wave. Direct it at a specific target."

Eve focused the expanding emotion, drawing it back inward and then redirecting it.....like adjusting a lens. She aid it at Raphael himself, concentrating the projection into a single, targeted beam.

Raphael went very still.

"There," he said quietly, and his voice had changed....slightly rougher, stripped of its professional composure. "There it is. You feel that difference?"

"Yes," Eve said. The difference between broadcasting and targeting was profound.....like the difference between a lit match and a focused laser.

"Release it," Raphael said. "Then we try sothing more complex."

They worked through the projection techniques for the next ninety minutes, and each exercise built on the last with a progressive intensity that Eve felt in her bones. Raphael was thorough and exact....he pushed until she found the edge of her current capability, then pushed slightly past it to expand where that edge was.

He showed her techniques her mother had developed specifically for Court politics....projections that were subtle enough to be undetected by untrained targets. A light wash of confidence that made a room respond to you as though you were inherently trustworthy. A carefully calibrated pulse of authority that made people inclined to defer without understanding why. A delicate thread of unease, precisely placed, that made an opponent second-guess themselves at a critical mont.

"This is manipulation," Eve said, during a brief pause, examining what she was learning. "It’s elegant but it’s still manipulation."

"Yes," Raphael confird without apology. "Court politics are manipulation. That is their nature. The question isn’t whether you’ll use these tools....you will, because your opponents will use them on you....the question is whether you use them with intention and principle or react to others’ use of them without awareness."

He t her eyes steadily. "Your mother had a rule. She never used projection to cause genuine harm or to override soone’s fundantal will. She used it to level a playing field that was never level. To survive in an environnt that would have destroyed her without these tools."

"And you think I can have the sa rule?" Eve asked.

"I think you already do," Raphael said. "Your instincts are genuinely ethical, Evangeline. The ruthlessness you’ve been developing....it’s not cruelty. It’s survival. There’s a difference. You know the difference."

Eve considered this, and found it settled sowhere in her that felt true.

"Again," she said. "The focused projection. I want to hold it longer this ti."

Raphael’s smile was sharp with satisfaction. "Now you sound like your mother."

They built toward the session’s final exercise, and both of them knew they were building toward sothing significant. Each iteration of the projection techniques had added layers....more control, more precision, more depth of experience transferred. Eve could feel her power expanding with each successful attempt, could feel new pathways opening in her succubus nature like doors unlocking in rooms she hadn’t known existed.
