"Even when it’s too much?" Damian asked.

"You’re never too much. You’re exactly enough. Exactly what I need."

Damian kissed her then....slow and deep and completely devoted.

The sex that afternoon was different.

When Damian moved inside her, it wasn’t frantic or desperate. It was deliberate. Present. Completely focused on the connection between them rather than the need to claim.

He took his ti. Moved slowly. Let sensation build gradually instead of explosively.

Eve responded by being equally present, her hands stroking his back, her eyes locked on his, her entire focus on him and nothing else.

"I love you," Damian said with absolute certainty. "Not because you belong to . But because you choose to. Every single day, you choose . And that’s worth more than any claim I could make."

Eve’s eyes filled with tears. "I do choose you. Will always choose you."

The orgasm that rolled through them was softer but deeper. More emotional than physical.

When Damian ca, it felt like a release of sothing he’d been holding onto too tightly. Fear. Doubt. The desperate need for control.

In its place was sothing better. Trust. Certainty. Love.

That evening, all three brothers gathered in the studio.

Damon and Silas looked at the massive painting Damian had created....multiple studies of Eve. Vulnerable and strong. Marked and powerful. Completely herself.

"It’s incredible," Silas said.

"It’s you," Damian said simply. "Capturing everything you are. Everything you’ve taught this week."

Damon pulled Damian into a hug. "Kane’s settled."

"Kane’s at peace," Damian corrected.

The fifth day dawned clear and bright.

Damian woke to find Eve already awake, watching him sleep with an expression of absolute love.

"Hi," she said softly.

"Hi," he replied, pulling her close. "How are you feeling?"

"Complete," Eve said. "Marked and claid and absolutely loved. Exactly how I want to feel."

Damian held her, and for the first ti in weeks, Kane was completely quiet inside him. Not struggling. Not agitating. Just... present. Content. At peace.

In the studio, Damian prepared one final canvas.

Large. Beautiful. Ready for the final painting of the week.

He positioned Eve carefully, standing this ti, not reclining or kneeling. Standing with power and grace and complete confidence in who she was.

Her marks were visible. The claims he’d made on her body were still evident. But she stood like she owned them. Like she was proud to wear his marks.

Damian began painting.

And this ti, when he painted, it was pure art. No need to touch. No desperate possessiveness driving his brushstrokes.

Just love. Just devotion. Just the absolute certainty that this woman had changed him forever.

His hand moved with precision and grace, capturing light and shadow, the curve of her body, the strength in her eyes.

Hours passed. The sun moved across the sky. And Damian painted.

When he finished, it was with a sense of completion that went deeper than any orgasm could reach.

He’d painted Eve. Not as possession. But as love.

That evening they had sex again, Damian positioned her on their bed...pletely wrapped around him, their bodies pressed together so completely there was no space between them.

When he entered her, it was slow and deep and absolutely intimate.

This wasn’t claiming. This was choosing. Over and over again, choosing each other.

Their pace was unhurried. Their connection was absolute. Their hearts beat in sync as pleasure built gradually and inevitably.

"I trust you," Damian said against her hair. "With my entire existence."

"I trust you too," Eve said. "With my life. With my body. With everything I am."

They moved together like they’d been born knowing this rhythm. Like their bodies had always been designed to fit together perfectly.

The orgasm that rolled through them was transcendent. Not explosive or desperate, but rolling and all-encompassing and absolutely grounding.

When they ca, it was simultaneously, completely synchronized.

Later, as Eve slept, Damian lay awake and just looked at her.

The marks he’d made were already starting to fade. The claims he’d inscribed on her skin would eventually disappear.

But that was okay now. Because he understood sothing he hadn’t understood a week ago.

The marks weren’t what bound her to him. Her love was. Her choice was. Her absolute certainty that she wanted to be with him and his not just because of the mata bond, but because she loved them.

That was the real claim. The real ownership. The real possession.

And it was infinitely more valuable than any mark he could leave on her body.

Damian pressed a kiss to her forehead and let himself drift off, finally at peace.

POV: Damon

The ssage ca during morning training.

One of the younger pack mbers Jas, barely twenty, had been badly injured in what should have been a routine supply run into the village. A car accident. Human driver wasn’t paying attention. Jas was unconscious and being transported to their private dical facility.

Damon’s entire body went rigid.

Training stopped imdiately. Damian was already moving toward the dical wing.

But Damon stood frozen for a mont, the weight of everything crashing down on him all at once.

This was his job. His responsibility. Keeping the pack safe. Protecting them. Making sure nothing bad happened on his watch.

And he’d failed.

"Damon." Eve’s voice ca from behind him. "Co on. Jas needs us."

Damon moved chanically, his mind already running through everything that could go wrong.

By the ti they reached the dical facility, the pack doctors were already attending to him..

Brynn was there, looking grim. "Car T-boned him. He was conscious when they brought him in, but barely. The doctors are assessing now."

Damon felt sothing crack inside him.

This was a boy. A kid who’d just joined the pack six months ago. Who’d been excited about his new life, excited about belonging to a supernatural community.

And Damon hadn’t kept him safe.

"I should have assigned soone to go with him," Damon said, his voice hollow. "Should have known better than to let soone that new travel alone."
