Eve stood in front of the bathroom mirror, examining Kane’s mark.

It was beautiful in a terrifying way. A single, perfect bite on the curve of her neck where it t her shoulder.....already scarring, the edges raised and silvery, impossible to hide or mistake for anything other than what it was.

A mate mark. Permanent. Claiming her as bonded to an alpha wolf.

She touched it gingerly, feeling the slight tenderness that remained. Kane had been so controlled, so precise, that the wound had healed quickly. But the scar would last forever.

"Still processing?" Silas’s voice ca from the doorway.

Eve nodded. "I thought.....after Rex’s claiming, after thirty-seven marks....I thought I understood what wolf claiming ant. But this...." She gestured to the single mark. "This is different. More intense sohow, despite being singular."

"Because it carries more weight," Silas said, moving to stand behind her, his reflection eting hers in the mirror. "Rex marked you everywhere because he needed to prove his claim over and over. But Kane only needed once. One perfect mark that says everything."

"That I’m his," Eve said quietly.

"That you’re ours," Silas corrected. "All three of us. The marks are different....Rex’s scattered possessiveness, Kane’s singular confidence....but they all say the sa thing. You belong to us."

Eve turned to face him. "Do you think Cain will mark at all? When he finally claims ?"

Silas was quiet for a long mont. "I don’t know. Cain is....he’s different from Kane and Rex. More complex. He might mark you in ways that have nothing to do with physical bites."

"What does that an?"

"It ans," Silas said carefully, "that when Cain claims you, it might not be about your body at all. It might be about your mind. Your will. Your absolute surrender to him."

Eve shivered despite the warm bathroom. "That sounds...."

"Terrifying," Silas finished. "I know. It terrifies too. Because I can feel him in my head, feel him watching, feel him planning. And what he wants from you....it’s not just physical submission. It’s everything. Complete and total surrender of your entire being."

"Can I even do that?" Eve asked. "Can anyone surrender that completely?"

"That’s what he’s waiting to find out," Silas said. "That’s why he won’t claim you yet. He’s waiting until you’re strong enough that surrendering to him is a choice, not a necessity. Until you can give him everything willingly."

Eve absorbed this, trying to understand what it would an to surrender completely to a wolf as dominant as Cain.

"I need to get stronger," she said finally. "Not just physically. ntally. Emotionally. Powerful enough that submission is a gift I choose to give, not sothing taken from ."

"Exactly," Silas agreed. "And you’re getting there. Your powers are developing faster than anyone expected. Elder Markov said you’ve made remarkable progress."

"Speaking of powers," Eve said, changing the subject slightly, "I’ve been practicing sothing. Want to see?"

Silas’s eyes lit with interest. "Always."

They moved to the bedroom where Damian and Damon were waiting, having heard through the bond that Eve wanted to show them sothing.

"What have you learned?" Damian asked, his tone encouraging.

Eve took a breath, centering herself. Over the past few days, she’d been reading the ancient grimoires Elder Markov had acquired....dense, complicated texts written in archaic language about succubus abilities.

One power had caught her attention: emotional reading. The ability to sense not just arousal, but all emotions in the people around her.

She focused on Damian first, reaching out with her succubus senses, trying to feel beyond just his physical desire. And there....she could sense it. His emotions laid bare to her enhanced perception.

Love. Pride. Worry. Fear. Protectiveness. All swirling together in complex layers.

"You’re worried about the pack," Eve said, reading him. "About how they’re reacting to . You’re proud of how I’m handling everything, but you’re also afraid....afraid that I’m pushing myself too hard. That I’ll burn out trying to prove myself."

Damian’s eyes widened. "That’s....how did you...."

"Emotional reading," Eve explained. "One of the abilities the grimoires described. I can feel what you’re feeling. All of you."

She turned to Damon next, focusing on his emotional signature.

"You’re restless," she said. "Wanting action, wanting to fight sothing tangible instead of all this waiting and political maneuvering. You’re frustrated with pack mbers who can’t control themselves around . And you’re..." She paused, sensing sothing deeper. "You’re scared. Scared of losing . Scared that one day my enemies will co and you won’t be strong enough to protect ."

Damon’s jaw clenched, but he didn’t deny it.

Finally, Eve turned to Silas, reaching for his emotions.

What she found was...plex. Layers upon layers of feeling, thought, and awareness. And beneath it all, Cain’s presence....dark, patient, watching.

"You’re conflicted," Eve said. "Part of you wants Cain to claim now, to complete the bond. But another part is terrified of what that claiming will an. Of losing yourself to Cain completely during the claiming. Of watching your wolf dominate in ways you’re not sure I can handle."

She paused, sensing sothing else. "And Cain...he’s amused. He knows you’re afraid. He knows I’m afraid. And he finds it....satisfying. Because fear ans we respect his power. Respect what he’s capable of."

Silas let out a long breath. "That’s....accurate. Disturbingly accurate. You can really sense all of that?"

"Yes," Eve confird. "And it’s not just emotions. I can sense....intentions. Desires. The things you want but won’t say out loud."

"That’s a powerful ability," Damian said slowly. "And potentially dangerous. If you can read everyone’s emotions, their hidden desires...."

"I could manipulate them," Eve finished. "I know. That’s what the grimoires warned about. Emotional reading combined with desire manipulation....it’s a dangerous combination. I could make people want things they don’t actually want. Could twist their emotions to serve my purposes."

"But you won’t," Damon said with certainty.

"How do you know?" Eve challenged.

"Because you’re asking these questions," Damon said. "Because you’re aware of the danger. Soone who would abuse that power wouldn’t be worried about the ethics of it."

"He’s right," Silas agreed. "You have a moral compass. You’ll use your powers responsibly."

"I hope so," Eve said quietly. "But....what if the power changes ? What if having this much ability to influence people makes ....different? Corrupts sohow?"

"Then we’ll pull you back," Damian said firmly. "That’s what mates do. We keep each other balanced. If your power starts corrupting you, we’ll help you find your way back."

Eve wanted to believe that. Wanted to trust that their bond would be enough to keep her grounded.

But she couldn’t shake the feeling that her powers were growing faster than her ability to control them. That she was becoming sothing more—and potentially sothing dangerous.

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON - 2:00 PM

The feeling of being watched had returned.

Eve was in the garden, trying to practice her energy manipulation skills by making flower petals move with focused desire. She’d managed to make three rose petals float briefly before they fell back to the ground.

But her concentration kept breaking because she could feel it...that presence. The watcher.

She turned slowly, scanning the treeline beyond the garden.

There.

Just for a mont, she saw him again. The sa tall, dark-haired figure she’d glimpsed before. But this ti, he didn’t imdiately vanish. He stood there, watching her, and even from this distance, Eve could sense his emotions.

Not malice. Not danger. Sothing else....sothing that felt like...

Sadness. Regret. And beneath it all, fierce protectiveness.

This man wasn’t her enemy. He was...protecting her? Watching over her?

"Who are you?" Eve called out, taking a step toward the treeline.

The figure didn’t respond. Didn’t move. Just stood there, watching her with an intensity that made her skin prickle.

Eve took another step forward.

"I know you’ve been watching ," she said. "For days now. Maybe longer. I can feel you. Sense you. You’re not trying to hurt . So.....who are you? What do you want?"

For a mont, she thought he might answer. His posture shifted slightly, as if he was considering revealing himself.

Then one of the brothers....Damon....appeared at the garden entrance.

"Eve? Everything okay?" Damon called.

Eve glanced back at him for just a second. When she turned back to the treeline, the watcher was gone.

Vanished as completely as if he’d never been there.

"Did you see soone?" Damon asked, imdiately on alert. "In the trees?"

"Yes," Eve confird. "The sa person I’ve seen before. He’s been watching . But Damon.....he’s not dangerous. I can sense his emotions. He’s not here to hurt ."

"Then why is he hiding?" Damon demanded. "Why watch from the shadows instead of revealing himself?"

"I don’t know," Eve admitted. "But I felt....sadness from him. Regret. Like he wants to approach but can’t. Like he’s waiting for sothing."

"We need to tell Damian," Damon said, already pulling out his phone. "Increase security. Find out who this person is and what they want."

But even as Damon made the call, Eve couldn’t shake the feeling that the watcher didn’t want to be found. That he was choosing to remain hidden for a reason.

And that reason was....her. He was waiting for her to be ready. Strong enough. Powerful enough.

Just like Cain.

Everyone was waiting for her to beco sothing more. Sothing stronger.

The question was....could she beco that person before her enemies found her?

WEDNESDAY EVENING - 7:00 PM

Elder Markov arrived for their weekly training session, bringing new grimoires and looking excited.

"I found sothing," he said without preamble, spreading several ancient texts across Damian’s desk. "Information about succubus queens. Real information, not just legends."

All four of them gathered around as Markov pointed to a passage in one of the oldest grimoires.

"Succubus queens weren’t just rulers," Markov explained. "They were warriors. Battle commanders. They didn’t just feed on sexual energy...they weaponized it. Used desire as a tool, a weapon, a shield. They could make armies lay down their weapons with a thought. Could turn enemies into allies. Could drain life force from dozens of opponents simultaneously."

"That’s....terrifying," Eve said.

"That’s power," Markov corrected. "The kind of power your parents must have had. The kind of power that made them targets. And the kind of power you’re developing."

"I can’t do any of those things," Eve protested.

"Not yet," Markov agreed. "But you will. Your emotional reading is just the beginning. Soon you’ll be able to project emotions onto others. Make them feel what you want them to feel. After that.....desire manipulation. Energy draining. Reality warping. All the abilities that made succubus queens the most feared and respected rulers in the supernatural world."

"I don’t want to be feared," Eve said quietly.

"Maybe not," Markov said. "But you’ll need to be respected. And in the supernatural world, fear and respect often go hand in hand. Your enemies won’t respect you unless they fear what you’re capable of. And right now...." He gestured to the texts. "Right now you’re barely scratching the surface of your capabilities."

"How do I develop these abilities without losing myself?" Eve asked. "Without becoming the kind of person who uses people as pawns?"

"That’s the question every powerful being must answer," Markov said seriously. "Power doesn’t corrupt automatically. But it does test you. Challenges your values. Forces you to decide who you are and who you want to be."

He looked at the three brothers. "That’s where your mates co in. They’re your anchor. Your moral compass. When the power starts to feel overwhelming, when you’re tempted to use it for selfish purposes....they’ll remind you who you are."

"Will that be enough?" Eve asked.

"It will have to be," Markov said. "Because the alternative....refusing to develop your powers out of fear of corruption....that leaves you vulnerable. Weak. Unable to protect yourself or those you love when your enemies co."

"And they are coming," Damian said grimly. "We all know that. The question is when, not if."

"Soon," Markov said. "The supernatural grapevine is buzzing. Word is spreading about a powerful new succubus who’s bonded to three alpha wolves. Your enemies in the Seraphim Court will have heard by now. They’ll be planning. Preparing. And eventually....they’ll co for you."

Eve felt ice in her stomach. "How long do I have?"

"Weeks," Markov estimated. "Maybe a month if you’re lucky. But probably less. Which ans you need to train harder. Practice more. Push yourself to develop these abilities as fast as possible."

"I’ll do whatever it takes," Eve said.

"Good," Markov said. "Because starting tomorrow, we’re intensifying your training. No more gentle practice sessions. We’re going to push you to your limits and beyond. We’re going to unlock every ability you have, develop every power you’re capable of. And by the ti your enemies arrive.....you’re going to be strong enough to face them."

"And if I’m not?" Eve asked.

"Then we all die," Markov said bluntly. "You, your mates, everyone at this estate. So.....you will be strong enough. Failure isn’t an option."
