RUBY’S STORY
I watched as blood slowly rolled down the side of his face.
Neither of us moved.
We simply just stood there.
It was as though the air itself had gone still.
The birds I had heard singing around a while back had gone mute.
My chest rose and fell rapidly.
I began to panic and then I held my ground.
I wasn’t going to feel bad for sothing *he* had done.
Maybe now he would understand exactly what I thought about wolves who hunted innocent creatures for sport.
His fingers slowly moved to the cut above his brow.
He looked at the blood.
Then he looked at .
Those grey eyes beca dangerously calm.
Sohow that was far worse than anger.
"You threw an arrow at ?" He asked in a very cold voice.
I rose a brow. "I should have aid lower."
His jaw tightened.
"And quite frankly, I didn’t just throw *an* arrow, I threw your arrow." I snapped at him as I tilted my head to look at him. "I an doesn’t it look familiar anymore? The sa one you used to shoot down a rare almost extinct golden eagle."
His face was written with rage and I turned around to look for the left over arrows I was sure he had.
It was only then, that I noticed he had n around him.
They were all seemingly mbers of the pack and looked to be within the ranks of Betas and ogas.
They looked ready to defend him in a second.
As though they were waiting for a snap of his finger before they sprung into action.
I grumbled to myself.
I was most definitely not going to be intimidated by the likes of them.
"You have quite a mouth." He sneered. "Didn’t your mother tell you to know your place? As a woman?"
"Didn’t your mother tell you to regard a woman better?" I fired back.
He seed stunned.
I relished in my small victory.
"And also you have quite the talent for terrorizing defenseless animals." I chipped in.
His stare hardened.
For a split second I assud he was going to hit .
So I simply grounded myself.
And I rembered what mother had said.
Don’t fight.
I looked around and saw that I was terribly outnumbered.
If push ca to shove, my best bet of getting out of this alive was making a run for it.
He took a step towards and I took a step back, almost stumbling.
He caught my chin and forced to look at his unnecessarily handso face.
"You think because you have a pretty face you can get away with anything?" He asked . "You’re in my pack. My pack house and I’m going to teach you how to be a lady. You think because you have a pretty face you can get away with anything?"
I snapped my jaw away from his grip and looked at him in horror.
"Who gave birth to you?" I said alard.
Alard that he would say sothing as dreadful as that.
I knew he was a monster but he was the most archaic bastard I had ever seen.
"Your mother gave the world a great disservice when she gave you life." I hissed as I poked his chest with my free hand.
His face turned into thunder.
From the corner of my eyes I saw the n who accompanied him begin to take steps forward, but the spoiled brat waved his hand and they stopped.
My heart was beating so fast but I could not let him see that I was scared.
"You’re going to apologize to ." He said without taking his gaze off of .
"Over my fucking dead body!" I spat at his feet.
He took a step back startled.
He just stared , seemingly unable to believe I had just spoken to him this way.
I could hear him breathing heaving as he towered over .
There was this strange pull of energy to him.
One I couldn’t understand.
It seed like static and it made my bones go weak, made my palms begin to feel sweaty.
I swallowed heavily refusing to be bossed around.
"Apologize to ." He snapped like a spoiled brat, marching up to .
He caught my arm and dragged back before I could make a run for it.
My chest hit his and I could have sworn I felt a rush of energy at impact.
I tried to jerk free but he held hard down.
I used my other free hand which I held the body of the dying eagle with to attempt wiggling free.
But then he caught my spare hand and held it firmly down.
He held it so hard that I began to feel intense pains in my wrists.
Then I heard the eagle cry weakly.
He had been squeezing the almost lifeless creature too.
Unknowingly, I opened my palms and the large bird fell from my grip.
I used my complete might and jerked free, before hurriedly picking up the bird that had now fallen to the ground.
I gathered it in my arms and hurriedly looked over its body.
I could feel the light almost going out of it.
I looked at him in anger, my eyes hungry with rage.
"You monster! Look what you’ve done!" I said, my voice cracking.
"It’s a dead bird for sport who fucking cares?" He snorted.
I was disgusted at his words, but before I could engage into another row with him, the bird squeaked.
I pulled it up to and began to apologize, my heart breaking.
"I’m sorry. I am truly sorry my friend." I pleaded.
And then to my amazent, the bird began to move around my arm.
Its wings fluttered and its body began to adjust.
The eyes that had almost closed, opened up and the bird squealed, full of life.
It nuzzled in my arm and then instantly took off in the air.
I looked up as the beautiful bird went up to the sky
I had healed it.
Again by mistake.
My eyes ca down with a smile and they t the blood shot eyes of the brat.
"How the hell did you do that?"’
