Now reading: Chapter 35: Jiang Yiyi from The Arch-Enemy Must Not Become a Wife, a Eastern novel by Mysterious Pavilion.

Chu Xuan was puzzled, "Master, how are you sure she’s telling the truth?"

Fuyun pointed to the wall on the right.

Only then did Chu Xuan realize that there were also portraits hanging on both sides of the ancestral hall, three on the left, three on the right, plus the one in front, making a total of seven. These corresponded to the seven masters of Cyan Lotus Daoist Palace who had ascended to immortality throughout history.

His pupils suddenly shrank when he saw the central portrait on the right, depicting a woman in a water-blue dress, with a shawl wrapped around her arms, standing on a cloud, appearing ethereal.

Her appearance and deanor were strikingly similar to the young girl outside, but with less naivety and more worldly wisdom.

Chu Xuan couldn’t help but walk forward, observing for a while, and then touched his chin, slightly furrowing his brow and said, "But rely relying on appearance can’t be a hundred percent certain, right?"

"By the way, where did this ancestral master suddenly co from?"

Fuyun sighed softly and showed a look of reminiscence.

"About half a year ago, there was a heavy rain in this mountain. At the ti, lightning flashed and thunder roared, one bolt struck an empty alchemy room halfway up the mountain, knocking off a corner of the building."

"Didn’t the Mountain Protection Array work?" Chu Xuan asked in confusion.

Fuyun shook his head, "Natural phenona are not an enemy attack, so the array naturally wouldn’t react."

"Although many in our sect sensed this event at the ti, since the alchemy room was empty, no one would interfere. It was considered as nothing happened."

"Later, soone went to clear up the outco, and a young disciple found an unconscious girl among the rubble."

"They were shocked and imdiately rescued her."

"It turned out the girl wasn’t hurt. As soon as she woke up, she found herself in Cyan Lotus Main Peak, very excited. She told everyone she was Jiang Yiyi, the third-generation ancestor of the palace, who ascended years ago."

"None of those present, whether stewards or disciples, recognized her, assuming she was a newly accepted student of so elder, her mind possibly addled by the lightning, leading to this nonsense."

"We gradually realized sothing was wrong and quickly went to the alchemy room to take away this mysterious girl."

"In fact, anyone who had entered the ancestral hall would be shocked upon seeing her, myself included."

"Surrounded by us old folks, the girl wasn’t nervous. She touched one person’s beard, tugged soone else’s hair, still claiming to be Jiang Yiyi."

"We asked her for evidence, and she indeed could talk about many historical events in detail, including various specifics."

"Though there are no elders in the sect who have lived for four thousand years, there are historical records, and many places match up with what the girl said..."

While Fuyun was telling his apprentice the story, the girl claiming to be "Jiang Yiyi" had sohow entered the ancestral hall.

She reached out to touch a plaque, a sowhat sad expression on her face, probably recalling so old acquaintance, maybe her master.

Chu Xuan whispered while observing Jiang Yiyi, "Was Ancestor Jiang recorded in history as having such a personality? Maybe her mind was indeed addled by the lightning?"

The girl imdiately turned her head in anger, staring fixedly at Chu Xuan.

Fuyun looked a little embarrassed and stroked his mustache, "Well, the sect’s annals indeed record that Ancestor Jiang had a ’childlike heart’, being kind and approachable, highly respected by disciples."

Chu Xuan looked at the portrait on the wall and muttered, "I still feel sothing’s off."

"By the way, did she say why she suddenly descended to the mortal world? I rember there’s a strict rule in the heavenly court, right? Immortals and gods are not allowed to descend."

Fuyun shook his head, "She said she forgot, and when she woke up, she found herself already in the mortal world."

At this mont, Jiang Yiyi frowned, tapped her head with her fingers, and added, "I feel like I’m carrying a significant mission, but the problem is, I can’t rember."

Chu Xuan glanced at her and asked, "Then this ancestor, can she demonstrate any Divine Techniques or Immortal Techniques? This should be the most direct and compelling evidence, right?"

Fuyun coughed, "According to the ancestor herself, maybe to circumvent the prohibition of descending from the heavenly court, she self-sealed most of her cultivation and Immortal Power, even so mories, so now only a small part of her Divine Techniques remain."

"Oh," Chu Xuan’s eyes brightened, "What kind of Divine Techniques?"

"Hmph," the girl snorted lightly, "To experience a real Immortal’s rightful technique, why don’t you personally give it a try?"

Chu Xuan suddenly felt a bit nervous and diplomatically said, "I’d better not. You could simply describe it."

Unexpectedly, Fuyun coughed, "It’s still better to try personally; let’s consider this letting the ancestor let off so steam."

"Ah?" Chu Xuan felt uneasy in his heart, but the girl already showed an excited expression, as if finding a fun new toy.

As Fuyun stepped back several steps, Jiang Yiyi suddenly reached out her hands toward Chu Xuan, shouting, "Punishnt of Heaven!"

At that instant, Chu Xuan was genuinely on edge.

Knowing he was severely injured and could only use his Divine Sense and a small amount of Magical Power, a direct hit from an "Immortal Technique" might leave no corpse behind.

Out of trust in his master, Chu Xuan gritted his teeth and didn’t flee, fully summoned his Magical Power to withstand it head-on, not even having ti to use his protective Magical Artifact.

In the instant Jiang Yiyi spoke, a lightning bolt as thick as a small water pipe descended from the sky, striking Chu Xuan straight, causing him to tremble and go numb, his hair turning into a bird’s nest.

Seeing his disheveled state, Jiang Yiyi burst into laughter, "Feel the might of the Celestial Punishnt Thunder!"

After being numb for several breaths, Chu Xuan recovered, his expression peculiar.

Because the physical damage from the lightning wasn’t significant, he felt that even a mortal struck would at most be injured and pass out, unlikely to die if treated promptly.

To be honest, such "petty tricks" might deceive ordinary people in the mortal world, but in the entire cultivator community, it’s too insignificant, at most the attack power level of the Qi Cultivation Stage.

This is supposed to be the "Immortal’s rightful technique"? It’s a bit too humorous.

At this ti, Fuyun had already returned to his disciple’s side, first helping him treat his injuries, then casting a few cleansing spells, finally lending him a comb to restore his appearance.

Seeing Fuyun’s proficient skills, it seems these old folks were often struck by Jiang Yiyi.

Chu Xuan guessed they were too "respectful and affectionate to the old and young", probably standing in place without dodging or defending against the strikes.
