Chu Xuan was caught off guard. He saw this mysterious boy suddenly appear, with dual-pupiled eyes, thinking he was a legendary mysterious figure.

Unexpectedly, as soon as they arrived at the temple, the boy prostrated himself in worship.

Qingqing also looked at him with surprise.

Chu Xuan pondered, "Don’t kneel yet, stand up and explain yourself clearly."

The boy stood up as instructed, his face still cold, but a trace of sorrow flashed in his eyes.

"I am not a cultivator, just an ordinary person. I brought death to my mother during her ten-month pregnancy."

"Everyone originally thought I was a stillborn."

"But on the day my mother’s body was buried, I was born from the coffin."

"Given my strange eyes, people called a ’coffin child’ and ’lone star of calamity,’ advising my father to drown in the river as soon as possible."

"But my father couldn’t bring himself to do it. Despite the disdain in people’s eyes, he insisted on raising ."

"Until I was three, a mysterious fire disaster struck the village. No one could find a cause, so they claid I brought calamity. Everyone ca with sticks, intending to beat to death."

"At that ti, my father protected , taking several hits. After much pleading, he convinced them to stop, promising to move out of the village imdiately."

"Since then, I’ve wandered with my father, and whenever there was a morsel of food, he wouldn’t let go hungry..."

The boy’s voice choked, "Until three years ago, my father and I were making a living carrying goods at the docks."

"We worked until nightfall one day, and sohow, on our way ho, we accidentally strayed into Ghost Street."

"The ghosts here mistook for one of their own and didn’t attack , but my father wasn’t so lucky."

"I wanted to save him but was powerless, watching helplessly as he was devoured alive by that monstrous ghost mountain."

At this point, the boy clenched his fists tightly in anger.

"That ghost was terrifying; it even ate its kind, so I didn’t dare get close. I could only search for opportunities day by day on this Ghost Street..."

After hearing this, Qingqing secretly communicated to Chu Xuan, "He’s likely telling the truth, likely."

Chu Xuan could sense Qingqing’s confidence but still asked, "What do you eat and drink here over the years?"

The boy pointed behind the temple, "There’s a clean well back there. I’ve tried it; the water is drinkable."

"When I first ca to Ghost Street, I was starving but didn’t dare eat the food here. I only drank water to fill my stomach."

"Gradually, I found my body becoming more like a ghost, and slowly, I no longer felt hunger."

Qingqing’s eyes showed a hint of sympathy, while Chu Xuan continued to ask, "Do you know how to leave this place? Have you thought about leaving?"

"I seek revenge," the boy’s eyes were full of hatred.

"I only know how to leave, but not how to return. If I leave and can’t co back, I’d rather die here."

Chu Xuan nodded, "During your three years here, have you seen any other living people?"

The boy spoke with a complicated tone, "I’ve seen them, but they were ghost cultivators. Their aura was different from yours—eerily ghostly, even more so than ."

"I sought their help but couldn’t offer what they wanted and almost got captured to be forged into a small ghost."

"Since then, I’ve been extra cautious, not daring to approach even living people easily."

"You two caused quite a stir entering Ghost Street this ti. I observed you secretly and only dared to seek help after confirming you were different from the others."

"As long as the Immortal Master can avenge , it’s fine even if I lose my life afterwards."

The boy knelt down again, kowtowing.

"Get up; a man kneels to gold beneath his knees, what’s with the kneeling?" Chu Xuan lifted the boy gently.

"Besides, your request is sowhat unrealistic. Outside, that ghostly mountain might be killable, but here on Ghost Street..."

"As you said, Ghost Street has its own rules. If I start hunting ghosts here and unwittingly break a taboo, provoking an attack by many ghosts, I won’t be able to withstand it."

Beside them, Qingqing asked, "Since you’ve seen ghost cultivators, do any dare hunt ghosts here?"

The boy shook his head gloomily.

"That indicates that outsiders can’t freely harm Ghost Street residents. Your revenge isn’t sothing we can help with."

The boy beca anxious, "But that terrifying zombie from before, it seed to be on good terms with you. Could you persuade it to help?"

Chu Xuan shook his head, "I don’t know it. Do you know its background?"

The boy appeared confused, "No idea. In my three years here, I’ve seen many formidable ghosts but never a zombie-like one."

"So do you know who the master of Ghost Street is? Or if there’s a manager?"

"Yes," the boy confird, "I’ve heard of soone called ’Yi.’ So intelligent ghosts refer to him that way."

"But I’ve never seen him, only heard he’s terrifying and controls the life and death of everything on Ghost Street."

Chu Xuan pondered while holding up the ghost token, "Then this item of mine..."

"Supposedly, only Master Yi can issue such a major clientele token," the boy suggested cautiously.

"So I suspect the white-haired zombie from before is either Master Yi or one of his subordinates."

Chu Xuan smiled, "Since I’m considered a major client, Ghost Street wouldn’t forbid my departure, would it?"
