Before leaving, he gazed at the closed room on the second-floor corridor with gentle eyes, the corners of his lips once again forming a soft smile.
After returning to her room, Munni collapsed onto the bed. The words Yisen had just said while cupping her face reverberated in her mind: "Because I fucking love you!"
The scene in her mind suddenly rewound to three years ago, before she married Xu Yisen, when they attended Liang Ziyuan’s birthday party together.
Unlike Liang Jiuchen, Liang Ziyuan was always low-key, and the birthday party at that ti invited only a few close friends.
As the party progressed halfway, Liang Jiuchen was already dead drunk. Xu Yisen and Liang Ziyuan exchanged a glance and resignedly supported Liang Jiuchen on either side to send him back to his room.
At that ti, Munni happened to co out of the bathroom. As she passed by Liang Jiuchen’s room, she suddenly heard Liang Ziyuan, who was tucking Jiuchen in, ask Xu Yisen, "Yisen, why are you marrying Munni?"
Liang Ziyuan knew clearly how much Munni loved Xu Yisen, and also knew that Xu Yisen did not have any feelings for Munni.
Xu Yisen leaned against the window, glanced at the hazy moonlight outside, then turned his head to look at Liang Ziyuan standing by the window, and answered in a low voice: "Because Munni is easy to control."
His terse reply made Liang Ziyuan burst into laughter, "Munni easy to control? She’s more arrogant than anyone."
Munni easy to control? That was an enormous joke!
In Liang Ziyuan’s eyes, Munni was like a wild cat, impossibly arrogant, yet sohow no one could manage her.
Xu Yisen shot Liang Ziyuan a sidelong glance, the latter’s eyebrows full of playful amusent.
Both of them knew well that the reason Munni was so easily controlled by Xu Yisen was simply because she loved him.
Liang Ziyuan walked to the window, putting away his playful expression, and patted Xu Yisen on the shoulder with sincerity, saying, "Since you’ve decided to marry her, treat her well."
Xu Yisen did not reply, turning his back to gaze at the deep night outside, an unfathomable light flickering in his dark eyes.
"By the way, does Yu Ge know about your engagent to Munni?"
"Mm."
"Did she...say anything?"
"She wished happiness."
"Tsk, quite decisive indeed." Liang Ziyuan curled his lip, a hint of his discontent with Xia Yuge revealed between his brows.
Their conversation reached Munni, who stood outside the door, without missing a word. She lowered her head, staring at the floor in deep thought.
That night, Xu Yisen was also seldom drunk. Liang Ziyuan helped Xu Yisen to the guest room and, before leaving, raised his eyebrows mischievously at Munni, "I’ve created an opportunity for you, stay and take care of Yisen tonight."
Munni rolled her eyes, feigning impatience as she waved him off, signaling him to leave quickly.
After Liang Ziyuan left, Munni went to the bathroom to wring out a towel, then returned to the room to carefully wipe Xu Yisen’s face, and then cleaned his hands.
Finally, she placed the towel on the bedside table and sat at the edge of the bed, staring with a complex expression at Xu Yisen, who was already asleep.
She reached out her slender right index finger, gently touched between Xu Yisen’s brows, then slowly traced down his closed eyes, long curly eyelashes, and the bridge of his nose, her fingers finally resting on his warm thin lips.
Her fingers traced lightly over the fine line of his lips, carefully outlining their shape.
"Yisen, after pursuing you all these years, I’m so glad to finally beco your bride."
