"Thank you, I’ll trouble you."
When Uncle Zhang looked up, he saw Qin Muni already in the living room. He gave her a loving smile and then politely spoke, "Miss Xia, the lady has arrived."
Xia Yuge initially thought that the lady Uncle Zhang ntioned was Bai Wan Yun, so when she heard his words, she quickly put down the teacup in her hand and stood up.
However, the smile on her face froze abruptly when she turned her head to see the elegant and dignified Qin Muni.
She instinctively opened her mouth and asked, "Munni, why are you here?"
Before Qin Muni could answer, a solemn voice spoke ahead of her.
Uncle Zhang stood respectfully by Qin Muni’s side and replied, "Miss Xia, the young lady is the mistress of the house. If she’s not here, then where should she be?"
His entire presence exuded a commanding aura that inadvertently instilled fear.
Faced with Uncle Zhang’s questioning, Xia Yuge had no response. She could only force a smile.
Qin Muni knew that Uncle Zhang was helping her assert her authority in front of Xia Yuge. She glanced at the pair of gifts Xia Yuge had brought, both expensive supplents and valuable paintings and calligraphy.
Qin Muni still rembered the last ti at Liang Jiuchen’s New Year’s party when she deliberately provoked Xia Yuge, suggesting she bring gifts when visiting the Xu family elders. Unexpectedly, she actually brought gifts.
Seeing Qin Muni’s gaze on the gifts she brought, Xia Yuge explained, "These are just my thoughts for Uncle, Aunt, and Grandma."
"Thank you, I’ll accept them on their behalf." With that, she turned to Uncle Zhang and politely instructed him, "Uncle Zhang, could you please put these gifts away?"
"You’re too kind, young lady. I’ll put the gifts away right away."
Uncle Zhang stepped forward, picked up the gifts Xia Yuge brought, and left the living room.
Qin Muni sat down on a long sofa chair beside Xia Yuge, and a housemaid placed a cup of hot tea in front of her. She softly thanked the maid, then looked up at Xia Yuge.
"Coming over all of a sudden, but it’s a pity you’ve co at the wrong ti." A touch of mockery flashed in Qin Muni’s eyes as she looked at Xia Yuge.
The two had already fallen out with each other, so naturally, they were reluctant to put on any guise of friendliness.
Xia Yuge let out a cold laugh, speaking contemptuously, "You’re already divorced, yet still shalessly clinging to soone’s house?"
Qin Muni picked up the teacup from the table and gently blew on it. Hearing Xia Yuge’s question, she slightly curved her red lips, her smile carrying an indiscernible aning.
She took a sip of the warm tea before speaking, "Aunt and Grandma invited to stay."
A simple statent, yet it explained... it wasn’t really that she wanted to stay in the Xu family, but Bai Wan Yun and Grandma Xu had insisted.
"Aunt Xu and Grandma Xu have been keeping you close to Yisen, and you still haven’t grown tired of that trick?"
Her words undoubtedly recalled Bai Sitong’s accusation at the New Year’s party about Xu Yisen misinterpreting Qin Muni’s actions as leveraging Bai Wan Yun’s affection to climb her way up.
Qin Muni fixed her gaze upon Xia Yuge’s clear, snow-like eyes, in which a cold light fleetingly passed.
An expression akin to a demon subtly spread across her exquisitely painted brows, while a noble arrogance unfurled at her lips.
"Indeed, I’m not tired of it yet. What a pity that you don’t even have the qualification to use it."
Her condescending deanor was like a queen showing her rcy to a disrespectful captive.
A simple retort, yet it was like a poisoned arrow, striking straight at Xia Yuge’s heart.
She knew since she was eighteen that Bai Wan Yun didn’t like her, and that had always been a thorn in her heart.
