Munni pressed her lips into a smile but didn’t respond.
"Have you read Xia Yuge’s novel?" Munni suddenly glanced sideways at Xu Yisen.
Possibly because of the alcohol, her brows and eyes carried a captivating softness, and her gaze toward Xu Yisen was lazy and casual, yet bewitching.
Xu Yisen instinctively shook his head, "No, I threw it in the trash."
That earnest and loyal expression seed to convey to Munni that he was on her side.
Munni nodded knowingly, tipped her head back, and finished the red wine in her glass, then picked up the wine bottle to pour more into the glass.
"Don’t just drink, it’s bad for your stomach. Here, have so fried squid tentacles."
Saying this, Xu Yisen picked up the chopsticks, added a piece of fried squid tentacle, dipped it in sauce, and held it to Munni’s mouth.
Munni glanced at him, then lowered her eyes to the squid string he offered before opening her mouth.
"I was bored this afternoon and finished reading her book; it truly is eye-searing. Since you haven’t read it, let tell you the plot so I’m not disgusted alone."
Hearing Munni’s calm tone, Xu Yisen felt helplessly amused, he nodded, gesturing for her to continue.
"The female lead, Warm, t the male lead, Cui Jingxian, at a welfare ho when she was seventeen. They were assigned to a group to draw with the children.
Warm was attracted to Cui Jingxian’s gentle and kind attitude toward the kids, and since then, she appeared at the welfare ho every weekend, partly to volunteer, partly to see Cui Jingxian.
As ti went on, they developed feelings for each other; rumor has it they kissed under the eaves on a rainy day; apparently, it was even their first kiss. Isn’t that sweet?"
Munni’s words paused, she glanced sideways at Xu Yisen, her eyes faintly sharp and piercing like a blade.
Xu Yisen, eting Munni’s eyes, let out a dry laugh, but the scene was unfamiliar to him.
"Not sweet; maybe sothing forced the male lead to kiss the female lead then."
In his mory, he and Xia Yuge had never really kissed as they were both very inexperienced at that ti.
"Is that so?" Munni picked up the goblet, gently swirling it.
Xu Yisen nodded emphatically, feeling that if he accidentally misspoke, Munni might kick him out.
Munni initially wanted to gossip with Xu Yisen about whether his first kiss was at that mont, but on second thought, the question seed a bit mundane, so she swallowed the question and continued:
"Cui Jingxian promised Warm he would officially date her after eting his mother, but after that eting, he not only didn’t date Warm but also asked to keep a distance.
Later, Warm found out it was because Cui Jingxian’s mother simply didn’t like her. As far as she knew, Cui Jingxian’s mother had received a good education from a young age and wasn’t prejudiced against social status, yet she wasn’t allowing them to date for unknown reasons.
Until one day, Warm unexpectedly discovered that Lu Jiayao, a rival who also liked Cui Jingxian, had pleased Cui Jingxian’s mother and influenced her against Warm."
Her words paused, she took a sip of wine.
The brief pause seed to offer Xu Yisen a chance to explain.
Xu Yisen slightly frowned, his eyes fixed on Munni, yet he did not offer any explanation.
