Zhang Chufeng caught a fleeting look of surprise in Qin Muni’s eyes, realizing she hadn’t expected Xu Yisen to co pick her up.
"It seems he really cares about you."
Qin Muni turned her gaze to Zhang Chufeng, slightly raising an eyebrow.
"Last ti, when he got out of jail, he told and Aunt Zhao he did it for you."
Qin Muni pressed her red lips together, recalling the last ti she ran into Xu Yisen having dinner with Zhang Chufeng and Zhao Yaru at the restaurant, and how she lost her temper with him afterward.
"I’m waiting for the good news about you two remarrying."
Qin Muni slightly arched her brows, her almond-shaped eyes unconsciously softened with a gentle wave, and she nodded lightly before bidding him farewell, "See you next ti."
"Mm."
Zhang Chufeng waved at Qin Muni, then stood in place, watching her get into Xu Yisen’s car.
Only after the car had driven far away, disappearing from view, did he turn around and head back inside.
Once in the car, Qin Muni placed the suitcase on her lap, puzzled, she glanced sideways at Xu Yisen in the driver’s seat, asking, "Why did you co?"
"I still don’t feel at ease with you alone, so I ca."
Qin Muni couldn’t help but chuckle, "Are you afraid I’ll get lost?"
Xu Yisen curved his lips, nodding gently, "Yeah, afraid."
The car drove through the neighborhood, passing luxurious villas one after another, finally exiting the neighborhood.
The temperature in the suburbs wasn’t as hot as in the city, and the sunlight streaming through the car window gave a lazy feeling.
Qin Muni rolled down the car window, letting the breeze stir her long hair draped over her shoulders.
She turned her head to look at the fleeting pleasant scenery outside the window, and her heart, which had been boiling with sadness, seed to have cald sowhat.
"Munni."
"Huh?"
"Do you know what the most pleasant thing in the world is?"
"What?" Qin Muni turned her head to look at Xu Yisen, who was seriously driving.
Feeling her gentle gaze, he turned his head to look at her, slowly wearing a noble smile, the smile blooming on his handso face was like sunlight shining on crystal, intense yet translucent.
"The sun is just right, the breeze is gentle, and the one you love is within reach."
He redirected his gaze forward, the smile at the corners of his lips unfailingly displaying his current good mood.
Qin Muni’s brows slightly arched, her beautiful almond-shaped eyes holding a trace of tenderness.
She lowered her eyes, staring at the suitcase on her lap, and after hesitating for a long ti, finally reached out to open the lid of the box.
At the top of the suitcase was a letter, addressed to Qin Muni. She reached out, took out the envelope, and pulled out the letter inside...
Dear Munni,
I hope that when you see this letter, I have already survived the tornt of chemotherapy, still living healthily and happily in this world, and have already told you in person that I’m sorry and I love you.
If... if I’m not there then, I hope you can patiently read through this letter and accept my sincere apology.
These days I often sit and reflect on my life over the past fifty-plus years, wondering if, when I truly have to leave, there are any unfulfilled wishes or regrets.
All I can think of, in the end, is you.
I rember when you were little, you were particularly clingy, always liking to follow behind your father and , but your father was busy with work, and I always liked to go shopping with friends, leaving you to the nanny. We seed to never spend enough ti with you.
As you grew older, your father’s indulgence developed your arrogant attitude, and you liked to bully so kids of the sa age, including the children of my friends, so I scolded you several tis, always feeling like you embarrassed .
