Chapter 1288: Chapter 1288: The Wronged Souls from Tens of Thousands of Years Ago

All around was chaos, the fluctuations in the Space Law palpable.

Others couldn’t sense it, but within this Red Mansion, Long Fei saw it all with clarity.

This Red Mansion was actually a magical treasure, capable of hiding within the folds of space.

In truth, it remained in the sa location, but due to spatial folding, it existed in a dinsion different from the outside world.

Yaoji Saintess had changed into a sheer, delicate outfit. Her jade-like skin beneath was faintly visible as she gracefully erged from a small adjacent room.

Seeing Long Fei standing dumbfounded, she extended her hand with a faint smile, “Young Master Long, please take a seat!”

Long Fei raised a brow at her attire, secretly wondering, was he really in for a night of passion?

Following Yaoji Saintess’s gesture, he sat down. On the redwood table, candle flas flickered, and the aroma of tea filled the air.

The two sat facing each other. Though there was a thin veil between them, it was clear Yaoji Saintess’s beauty was extraordinary.

Her face was shaped like a lon seed, her eyes rippled like an autumn lake, pure and flawless—not at all like a woman of a place of debauchery.

Long Fei picked up the freshly brewed tea and took a sip. With a smile, he asked, “How long can I stay here?”

Yaoji Saintess replied, “From the third watch to early morning, you have four hours to be with .”

Long Fei said with interest, “And what can I do in that ti?”

Yaoji Saintess’s eyes curved as she smirked, “Anything you wish.”

Long Fei chuckled, “Then let’s start by taking off that veil. I’m not one to beat around the bush, nor do I enjoy interacting with soone from behind a veil.”

Yaoji Saintess said, “Why et face-to-face for a fleeting night of pleasure? You and I are but strangers, and by dawn, we’ll return to being strangers.”

Long Fei stared at her intently for a mont, then chuckled softly, “I have a bad habit—I like to talk price before doing business. First small man, then gentleman; if the deal doesn’t work out, the courtesy remains. You’ve gone through so much trouble—what’s your goal?”

Yaoji Saintess smiled faintly, “Young Master Long is indeed direct, no wonder others call you the Chaos Devil King. Most would only have eyes for when seated here, yet you’re only focused on business.”

Long Fei said, “I’m not like others. There’s soone I love in my heart. The tea, the sandalwood, even everything before here—it’s tempting, but it cannot move .”

Yaoji Saintess narrowed her eyes, her expression shifting slightly as she asked, “Oh? And what do you an by that, Young Master Long?”

Long Fei replied, “I heard that anyone who leaves this place wakes up with no mory of what happened here. So, I have two guesses.”

Yaoji Saintess took a sip of tea and said lightly, “Please, enlighten .”

Long Fei smirked, “One possibility is that you’ve used so kind of drug to make them forget. But considering these are all geniuses, such a thod seems too crude.”

“And the other?”

Yaoji Saintess’s hand subtly tensed.

Long Fei said, “The other is that whoever leaves here probably isn’t the sa person anymore.”

A chilling wind swept through, causing the candle flas in the room to flicker violently.

“Where did you notice the flaw?”

Yaoji Saintess’s voice suddenly turned icy.

Long Fei chuckled, “Are you turning hostile already? No need to get so agitated. Let guess—this ti, the one planning to take over my body is a master from the Buddhist Sect?”

“Demon Chief, you are indeed extraordinary!”

A thunderous roar rang out. An arc of mysterious light flashed in the room, and a burly monk materialized.

He held a Zen Staff, his beard wild and unkempt.

His body was not flesh but had transcended the Soul Ascension Stage—most likely soone in the Spirit Transformation Realm already.

In the Soul Ascension Stage, what ascends is the Nascent Soul.

In the Spirit Transformation Realm, the Nascent Soul matures into a fully developed form, entirely indistinguishable from an actual physical body.

This Great Monk had clearly already broken through to the Divinity Transformation Realm.

Yaoji Saintess abruptly rose to her feet, glaring coldly at Long Fei as she said, “You should know, the cleverest people are often the first to die.”

“I’m already a dying man, afflicted with a Great Dao Injury. My days are numbered. My brother sent here to ask you for a cure. There’s no need for anger—I rely wish to understand clearly before I die, so that even in the Underworld, I can be an inford ghost.”

Long Fei’s expression remained indifferent, his face showing a sickly pallor.

He took another sip of tea, as if unbothered, and curiously observed Yaoji Saintess.

Yaoji Saintess stared at him for a mont before signaling with her hand.

The Great Monk withdrew with a clasped fist, glaring fiercely at Long Fei and, before leaving, greedily eyeing Long Fei’s body.

Yaoji Saintess sat back down and raised her brows, asking, “You knew there was sothing wrong with the tea—why drink it?”

Long Fei replied with composure, “For soone already dying, it’s rely a question of ti. What’s there to fear in drinking a questionable tea?”

“You’re quite straightforward.”

Yaoji Saintess looked at him with a touch of surprise and then said, “Since you’re so willing to face death, there’s no harm in telling you. The tea you drank is called Soul-Devouring Bewitching Tea. It contains a drug that specifically dissolves the Nascent Soul. Within three hours, the Nascent Soul will completely dissipate. Your guess is correct—we do intend to use your body to resurrect the master who was just here. We’re trapped here with no sunlight and have no other way to return to the Human Realm.”

Long Fei’s fingers drumd lightly on the table. Staring at her with a smile, he said, “There’s a legend that Emperor Fla had a daughter nad Yaoji. After her death, her body transford into Yao Grass. Consuming it could restore one’s youth, making it one of the most sought-after treasures by won desiring Heavenly Immortal beauty. I wonder if Yaoji Saintess has any connection to that Yaoji?”

Yaoji Saintess’s heart trembled greatly—she had no idea how Long Fei knew so many ancient secrets.

She asked coldly, “How do you know all this?”

Long Fei continued sipping his tea and pacified her, “Look at you, getting all worked up again over a couple of questions. I’ve already nearly finished this tea—you still have nothing to worry about!”

Yaoji Saintess exhaled sharply to calm herself, sitting straighter, feeling as though she was being led by the nose.

Long Fei set down his tea and continued, “I know little of your affairs, but I do happen to know so worldly tales about rare flowers and grasses. If you’re unwilling to say more, I can venture another guess. It’s said the Ghost Emperor Palace opens once every thousand years, and that it stands on the ruins of Emperor Fla’s domain. Your Heavenly Sound Workshop has existed for a millennium—could it be you ca out of the Ghost Emperor Palace during the last opening? Are the occupants of this pavilion not living beings, but Resentful Ghosts from ten-thousand years ago?”

The room filled with a biting wind, and the temperature plumted to freezing.

Despite her restraint, Yaoji Saintess couldn’t keep her composure at Long Fei’s riddles and stared at him in disbelief, “Our Heavenly Sound Workshop has stood for over a thousand years, and this is the first ti we’ve t soone as clever as you. If it weren’t for your valuable body, I’d truly not want to kill you.”

“I’m flattered by your complint, Sister!”

Long Fei laughed, clasping his hands in salute, before downing the entire bowl of Soul-Devouring Bewitching Tea. He extended his hand and said, “This tea isn’t bad. Sister, could I trouble you for a refill?”

Yaoji Saintess loathed the feeling of being manipulated by him, but sensing that this man harbored many secrets, she still refilled his tea.

Anyone else who drank even a mouthful of this tea—even the most powerful—would suffer unbearable headaches within an hour as their Nascent Soul dissolved as if made of ice.

Yet Long Fei had finished an entire bowl. Yaoji Saintess believed he wouldn’t last more than the ti it took to burn a single stick of incense.
