"What do you an?"
"Fifty million... huh! Are you serious? Buddy, if you’re trying to con us, at least be professional. You didn’t even bother to find out who we are. If you knew our background, you wouldn’t just ask for fifty million. If you want to live a few days longer, you’d better stop playing with fire." With that, Ling Chen hung up the phone before the other party could respond.
Damn! Do they really take us for fools, thinking our money is that easy to swindle?
"There will be more of these incidents, you don’t need to be too afraid." Ling Chen said to the staff present.
One staff mber anxiously asked, "Mr. Ling, how do you know they’re conning us?"
Ling Chen patiently explained, "There are plenty of people like this. They see us as easy targets, making up so reason to scare us. They think we’ll settle things quietly for the sake of the venue’s safety, so they don’t ask for much, make a quick buck, and leave. You could call them opportunists. After encountering them more, you naturally gain experience."
After speaking, Ling Chen started eating his boxed al heartily.
After finishing his al, a staff mber approached and said, "Mr. Ling, there’s soone looking for you outside, claiming to be your friend."
"Okay, I know." As he stepped out of the command center, he saw Nanrong Wanqing, Nanrong Hao, and Jiang Hao all there.
"Chen, hanging out here alone is boring. Co, let’s go for a walk together."
"Where do you want to go?"
"Anywhere lively."
Ling Chen asked, "Didn’t you just watch the match?"
"We did," Jiang Hao chid in, "But now it’s break ti; the next one won’t start for another half hour. Chen, you missed it earlier. So guys were really strong, taking down their opponents with one move."
"Among martial artists, it’s normal to have a few experts." Ling Chen replied with a smile.
"Hey! Did you hear sothing? It seems like soone got hurt over there."
"Really? Where?"
"Right at the duel ring, soone’s almost beaten to death."
At this mont, a sudden exclamation arose from the crowd, and soon, a large number of spectators rushed towards the duel ring to see the spectacle.
"Chen, what’s going on?" Zhao Zhengxiong asked, "Isn’t it supposed to be a civilized competition? How could soone get hurt?"
Ling Chen frowned slightly and shook his head, "I’m not sure, let’s go take a look together."
Imdiately, the group followed the flow of people towards the duel ring. In no ti, when they arrived, they found the area surrounded by tens of thousands of spectators. Ling Chen looked closely and saw that the contestants in the ring were a Huaxia man and a foreign man.
The foreign man had blond hair and blue eyes, wearing a tight vest, with bulging muscles all over, exuding a powerful presence. In comparison, his opponent was much more petite. The fight was nearing its end, with the blond man holding an overwhelming advantage, while the other had no ability to fight back and was already covered in bruises and bleeding from the mouth, a pitiful sight.
Seeing this bloody scene, Ling Chen’s expression turned grim. The blond man had clearly won but was relentless, seemingly intent on killing his opponent.
Unable to bear watching any further, Ling Chen squeezed through the crowd.
"Chen!" Everyone followed closely behind Ling Chen. Quickly, they reached the ring.
"Stop!" Ling Chen shouted, rushing onto the ring, dragging the barely conscious man aside, stopping the blond man from further action.
"He’s almost dead. Why won’t you spare him?" Ling Chen questioned coldly, staring at the blond man.
The blond man sneered, "We agreed before the match: no retreat, no surrender. If I die, it’s my own lack of skill. If he dies... huh! It just shows that your Huaxia martial arts are all show and no substance." Saying this, the blond man casually walked to the side of the ring, looked at the audience below, and loudly declared in clumsy Chinese, "See that? Your so-called martial arts are just flowery and useless. If anyone else here is not convinced, feel free to challenge . I’ll show you what the world’s best martial arts really are."
Hearing the blond man’s words, the beaten man struggled to stand, gritting his teeth, "Let go, I can still continue."
Ling Chen sternly said, "Are you crazy! Are you not afraid of dying?"
The man shook his head, "My life ans nothing, but I won’t allow him to insult our Huaxia martial arts."
Hearing this, Ling Chen was taken aback for a mont, seeming to understand sothing. For so, martial arts are rely for self-defense or comparing strengths. But for others, Huaxia martial arts represent a belief. Like this man before him, in his eyes, the reputation of Huaxia martial arts is more important than his own life.
Seeing the man’s determined expression, Ling Chen patted his shoulder gently and smiled, "Thank you for being a supporter of Huaxia martial arts. Go rest, I’ll show that guy what real Huaxia martial arts are."
"Really?"
Ling Chen nodded heavily, waving to so staff to help the man off the ring to rest.
"Hey, buddy, weren’t you eager to see the true power of Huaxia martial arts? Co, let play with you."
Just as Ling Chen was about to step up to the challenge, he heard a strange voice from the crowd. Subsequently, a young man in his twenties leapt high, stepping on a spectator’s shoulder, and landed directly on the ring.
Ha! Soone’s eager to step up. Well, he really didn’t have the desire to deal with such a minor character himself.
"You want to challenge ?" The blond man eyed the young man, shaking his head dismissively, "I advise you to back down. With your stature, I doubt you could withstand even one punch from ."
Unfazed by the blond man’s disdain, the young man calmly replied, "If you can land one punch on , I’ll kill myself right here." With that, the young man flicked his wrist, launching a shiny dagger onto the ring’s floor.
Upon seeing the sharp dagger, Ling Chen’s eyes flickered with interest, gaining so insight into the young man’s identity. The venue entrances are equipped with security and staff; every audience mber undergoes strict checking, and no prohibited weapons are allowed inside. So, this young man must have entered through the VIP access, where his weapon wasn’t confiscated.
Anyone coming through the VIP access is no ordinary person, thus Ling Chen felt confident and intrigued about this young man before him.
