Jian Dan cradled the fair-skinned baby boy in her arms, a smile unconsciously forming at the corner of her lips. Looking at the way he stared at her, she felt an indescribable emotion within her heart.
By the time Jian Dan finished everything, it was already afternoon. She hadn’t even had time to eat lunch before heading off to see Yuanyuan and Xi Rui.
"I have to say, you guys are really something." Jian Dan finally spoke as she arrived.
"What?"
"I mean, the two of you sharing a ward like this? At least I don’t have to run back and forth."
"But what’s with you? Why are you so out of breath?" Yuanyuan noticed Jian Dan leaning against the wall, panting heavily.
"Don’t even ask. I just ran up here."
"Why would you run?"

"I know being late is my fault, but it’s not like you two have had your babies yet, right? I just helped deliver a baby myself a moment ago!"
"What? Since when did you switch careers and bee a doctor?" Sizhe teased.
"Of course not. I just happened to e across it on my way here. There was a traffic jam, so we had to deliver the baby in my car."
"You?" Sizhe pointed at Jian Dan, his voice full of disbelief.
"Of course it wasn’t me doing the actual delivery! There was an OB-GYN nurse on-site at the time."
"But you just said you delivered the baby." Sizhe pressed further.
"I was responsible for calming the mother down, okay? Emotional support is very important too!"
"Yes, yes, very important! Extremely important!"
"But I have to say, you’re ridiculous. Even ing to the hospital manages to turn into an adventure for you."
"What do you mean by that? It sounds like you’re describing Conan—trouble just follows wherever he goes."
"Isn’t that exactly how it is?" Sizhe once again made a cheeky ment.
"Sizhe, are you itching for a beating? Should I help you out with that?" Jian Dan cracked her knuckles while exchanging hands.
"I’ll shut up now. I’m off to fetch some water~"
After Sizhe left, Yuanyuan grabbed Jian Dan’s hand. "Jian, as my due date gets closer, I’ve been getting more and more scared these days. I don’t even know why I’ve bee like this. Did you feel this way back then?"
"Of course, I was scared the first time I gave birth to Xiaoxin and Xiaokai. It’s perfectly normal to feel afraid during your first delivery. Just relax—it’ll be fine."
"But how is she so calm?" Yuanyuan gestured toward Xi Rui.
"I’m not as useless as you," Xi Rui said with a smirk.
"Jian, did you hear her? Isn’t she infuriating?"
"Everyone’s experience during pregnancy is different, Yuanyuan. Don’t let it get to you. Besides, your husband is Shang Sizhe—if he’s assisting with the delivery, what’s there to worry about?"

"Then you should have married me instead of Sizhe!"
