Now reading: Chapter 1065 - 1056: Kiss Marks (2) from The Best Actor Insists On Living With Me!, a Comedy novel by Desolate Jasper.

Actually, this was Xia Siyu’s first breakthrough on the path of acting. Now, as she sat in the audience reviewing her performance, she could sense so of her shortcomings.

Her acting was sowhat "surface-level." Her feelings for the male lead were about physical desire—it wouldn’t even be appropriate to call it love. More accurately, it was two people drowning in despair, seeking solace from each other.

Toward her enemies, she was aloof and decisive, striking with brutal precision. For instance, the icy look in her eyes when she smashed the troublemaker’s bald head with a bottle. Toward her subordinates, she carried the casual indifference of a big-sister figure.

But, how to put it... Despite all the flaws—her emotional transitions not being fully seamless or precise—it was already a remarkable breakthrough. In so details, you could see she had put thought and effort into the role, giving her performance layers and depth.

It was no wonder that during post-production, Wang Ju elevated her character, the female supporting role, to the sa prominence as the female lead. Her performance was simply too extraordinary, too dazzling. Whenever she appeared in a scene, it beca impossible to look away from her, and that, in itself, was a rather cruel reality.

But the plot moved forward, and the inevitable interactions between the male and female leads increased. If being with the female supporting character felt like mutual destruction, then being with the female lead was where you could sense the male lead’s soul gradually softening. He found joy. He imrsed himself in the world of music. He began to overco the shadows of his past and slowly embraced the future.

One character drowning in despair, the other warming up as they unlocked emotional knots. If it were your choice, which would you pick?

Of course, in the story, the male lead chose the female lead. When the female supporting character realized the male lead’s affections had shifted, she wasn’t particularly surprised. It was as if she knew from the start that one day he would leave her, so from the very beginning, she had already defined their relationship.

And yet, she couldn’t stop herself from digging into the female lead’s life. Even if she didn’t do it, her subordinates would have done it for her.

Then ca the scene where the female lead personally confronted her—that scene the reporters caught a glimpse of during their on-set visit.

In truth, Shang Feifei’s performance throughout the movie was also very comndable. Even amidst widespread admiration for Xia Siyu’s beauty and acting, her hard work kept the story balanced, preventing it from being overly biased. Her looks and qualities were convincing enough to justify why the male lead would leave such a stunning supporting character to be with her.

However, Xia Siyu was simply too outstanding, especially in terms of her presence. When the female lead and the female supporting character t, the mont Xia Siyu stood there, without saying a single word, picking up a glass of wine, she exuded an air of scrutiny and world-weariness.

This had nothing to do with physical appearance—it was purely the aura she, as an actor, carried. Soone like Xia Siyu didn’t seem like soone who could play a subordinate role in life. Even though she was just the supporting character, the one abandoned by the male lead, audiences couldn’t help but empathize with her. The more tragic her ending, the more sympathy she garnered.

Then ca the part where the male lead learned that the female supporting character had caused trouble for the female lead, so he stepped in to help. The female lead hit the female supporting character—and also hit the male lead.

It wasn’t the movie’s ultimate climax, but Xia Siyu’s expression in that one mont was truly heart-wrenching. One look at her eyes, and you could tell how deeply she had invested in this relationship—filled with pain, struggle, regret, and love. And Wang Ju didn’t even cut the line Bo Yan delivered after getting slapped.

Bo Yan said, "When will you finally learn to grow up?"
