But the new stage play’s male lead is Bo Yan.
The fans of Bo Yan were heartbroken once again.
Actually, when the rumors about Xia Siyu and Bo Yan first surfaced, Bo Yan didn’t say anything. This silence was already a kind of "tacit approval". Nurous big fans and fan clubs started causing a ruckus, hoping Bo Yan would co forward to clarify and deny the rumors, but he said nothing.
He didn’t respond nor did he refuse to comnt, playing dead all along. Fans got infuriated, leading to so withdrawing their support and so turning against him. The ones who turned against him even insulted him, calling him "not a man, lacking responsibility".
Yet, he still played dead, doing as he pleased, only posting advertisents and nothing else.
Bo Yan is an actor, unlike other idols who need to be consistently active. His advertisents have always been about take it or leave it. He made it clear early on that he wouldn’t have fans boosting sales or exploiting them for money. So even if the fans boycotted, it had little effect because he never pursued that path, nor did he casually take up endorsents.
When they wanted to give him bad reviews, his films were all genuinely impressive, and he didn’t participate in many variety shows. Thinking it over, so of those who turned against him and the hackers went to give "Storm" low ratings. The reason being, "Damn it, these two show love in the film but distance themselves outside of it, and then they turn around and stab us by saying they’ve been together all along. Plus, it’s supposedly a perfect match? Just end it already! If you’ve got the guts, just be straightforward!"
The film "Storm" beca the most tragically affected by this. It was supposed to be a sure contender for the Golden Phoenix, a prestigious dostic film award akin to the Gold Oscar, due to its quality. Bo Yan, Shang Feifei, and Xia Siyu were undoubtedly supposed to be nominees, but Xia Siyu was forcefully squeezed out of the selection for "violating public order and morals", leaving only Bo Yan and Shang Feifei nominated.
Xia Siyu was once again left without any awards.
Since its release, "Storm" had seen a continuous rise in ratings, but after rumors of Xia Siyu and Bo Yan’s relationship surfaced, it quickly plumted by three points, transforming from an 8-point great movie to a 5-point failing score.
It got so bad that the leading actress Shang Feifei personally went to the rating website to give a five-star review and even bought trending topic marketing to sound pitiful: "I beg everyone to be lenient with their ratings. A movie is the collective effort of all the filmmakers. Please recognize the hard work of many."
With the leading actress’s effort, the movie managed to climb back to around six points but still fell far short of the previous eight. Perhaps, only when the movie receives an award and the public opinion turns positive, can it slowly reconcile with the hackers.
"Youth 2" was completed, but they didn’t dare to report it, fearing audience boycott, so it’s been held back. "Spring Light" got stuck in censorship, never getting approved. For it to be released, there would be a lot of struggles and setbacks. Sun Wujiu was unwilling to make extensive edits but lingered on the edge of getting it approved, constantly facing difficulties.
As for Director Ji’s two other films, they were doing alright. Filming finished this year, and they were both martial arts action films, though post-production would take a long ti. But looking at the current situation, it would take one or two years at least to ease the impact of Xia Siyu.
Despite the bleak situation, Xia Siyu remained calm. Chen Fan finally finished his recuperation period and ca to Yancheng to see her. Her studio also started operating, and Xia Siyu specially hired a makeup artist to train him, even covering all his living expenses. Knowing he might be a bit afraid of exposure, she didn’t let him work at the studio but arranged for him to live near her ho.
