Xia Siyu hardly interacted with him; they rarely t on set. After the short films of the five nominees were shown, it was finally ti for the award to be announced.
Unfortunately, the supporting actor didn’t win.
On site, the caraman deliberately focused on the supporting actor. It was evident that his expression was a bit stiff, his clapping hands paused mid-air, and there was an unmistakable glint of disappointnt in his eyes. The host smiled, first greeting the crew, especially Director Wang Ju: “With several major awards you’re nominated for, aren’t you nervous?”
Wang Ju, used to grand occasions, easily deflected with polite words. The host then ntioned Bo Yan and Shang Feifei before “naturally” shifting to Xia Siyu: “Oh my, I wasn’t expecting you, Siyu, to be here today.”
She had worked with this host before—not very familiar, but the host was quite reputable in the industry. She nodded, “Yeah, they gave a ticket to make sure I ca, right?”
She refused to play along or show politeness to the organizers. So artists choose not to attend knowing they won’t win. She, however, insisted on attending.
The host chuckled, “You’re as stunning as ever tonight.”
Xia Siyu coolly replied, “When do I not look good?”
For interviewers, Xia Siyu is a mix of love and hate. They love her straightforwardness, never beating around the bush. They hate it because she speaks too bluntly, making it hard to respond.
The host kept up the professional fake smile, “Do you hope your crew wins an award tonight? For instance, Best Actress.”
Harming each other, who can’t do it? Xia Siyu’s pain point is being nominated but not winning, while her constant rival, Shang Feifei, has the nomination in her hands.
